With all that is going on in the world and my priorities over football have taken a change, I wish we could concentrate more on changing the game for the better to help make enjoyable to watch for all. My priorities would be
1. Eliminate bad fans who cause disruption, bad language and racist actions
2. Tighten the laws for players who cheat, waste time
3. Have a 90 minute game, no added time for anything
4 If a player is injured he is taken off the pitch as soon as possible and not for all the players to have afternoon tea!!!
5,A player who commits a foul, whereby, the fouled player has to go off field for attention or substitution then the offending player has to go off for the same amount of timeWe need to be very, very careful about club ownership views and comments. The same people who complain are probably the ones that buy daily from the countries they would denounce. We cannot take a moral high ground if you look at history and I suspect most stems from the fact that some clubs have benefited greatly from investment, other clubs wish they had it, and some clubs waiting for it. Fans hide behind moral issues rather than football ones because they have not been as fortunate.but things will and do change in the course of time. I would like to see somebody investing in the likes of Preston N.E, Sheffield Wednesday etc etc instead of the glamour clubs. Then you have a situation of how do you define Investment. It was interesting what Van gall recently said about Utd being a Commercial club, although you could level this at most, not just Utd, but the fact is some investments are taken for the commercial success only rather than football. There is an end game to this because it will never be financially sustainable
Well, that is my pennyworth accumulated in my absence and you may well say..depressing..stay away longer
Finally as to the Premier Title this season the team that wins it will deserve it…as simple as that. None of us have control on how it will turn out but if you look back at my post when City had an artificial big lead I stated then they could be caught and overtaken, you just had to have belief in your team, City, mostly, have not played badly, even in defeats, but the there is little or no difference in the leading two contenders in my opinion. For City, Burnley will be a bigger game than the Liverpool oneTake care everyone

30th March 2022 at 2:49 pm #195172Thanks all, I am in better shape at moment but still have some problems health wise. I will try and contribute a little more. I cannot comment on the International Friendlies because I did not watch or was interested in. That said, our cricketers did nothing to cheer me up, I am sure my frail body but stronger will, would have done better. Only one word describes them…Pathetic.
Adlab, yes different era’s but I am pleased I watched the real footballers, I am sure I have seen some of the current crop, in a play somewhere.
I still do not see where the next Pep/Klopp is coming from, City and Liverpool fans have been fortunate to have these two, they have uplifted the game in England significantly.
I think that plans for next season are under way for some. I do not think Harland is the right answer for City upfront and Kane will not be either. The only reason they would go for them is if it made financial sense because I would prefer someone less high profile plus Rice plus another. Next season we will be without Bernado, Fernandinho, maybe Sterling and/or Jesus…some holes to fill but we do have some youngsters coming through as well who I think will make the grade. This year. I think we will finish. PL-1/2 CL- Semi FA Cup. Winner, I hope, but I am hopeless at predicting these things, have a tendency to think worst scenario. I will be happy, whatever because we have served up some really entertain games, we have done well over recent years and the team will need a re shape for the next few years ahead of Peps departure, I am sure he will have put a good foundation down for whoever follows and City will only go for a Manager that goes with the foundations being created
Well. that is my take on the City future

31st March 2022 at 1:46 pm #195178Some mental ideas there.
1) Eliminate bad fans who cause disruption, bad language and racist actions- Agree with the disruption and racism bit, but swearing is part and parcel of football.
2)Tighten the laws for players who cheat, waste time – Valid point, but how?
3) Have a 90 minute game, no added time for anything – madness – this will cause more time wasting not less.
4) If a player is injured he is taken off the pitch as soon as possible and not for all the players to have afternoon tea!!! – The player might be seriously injured and cant get off the pitch quick.
5) A player who commits a foul, whereby, the fouled player has to go off field for attention or substitution then the offending player has to go off for the same amount of time – just a ridiculous suggestion.

31st March 2022 at 4:10 pm #195180Tugay..I am not saying I am right but that would be my way
1. Swearing should not be part of the game to me, particularly from fans, it just heats up a situation and is not family friendly
2. Nobody is making an effort to find a way and there should be, for the good of the game, or we are going to see it get worse. Does anybody actually enjoy it?
4. We all know the majority of the fouls are not serious but when they are the Ref is there to make a judgement. How many times do we see a player “injured” then get up after a rest and sprint away? I do take the point though, there are serious injuries as well and in general I think players on both sides know when this has happened and call a halt. We have to stop the all forms of cheating
5 Why should a team/player benefit from a foul if a player is taken off?
There are plenty of “maybes” in this scenario I was just putting forward a view. I would not say your views are “ridiculous” just your view, which I respect.

31st March 2022 at 4:30 pm #195181One change I would like to see is that no player apart from the captain can speak to the ref just as it is in rugby union. If the players try it . It is a yellow card.
Will it happen? No._____________________________

31st March 2022 at 9:17 pm #195184Good to hear from you Brian.
In any competition you are obviously to have a rivalry which is going to spill over with emotion when the adrenalin is running. What I think has worsened things is the big money and owners in the game whereby you don’t just have to beat the opposition, you have to obliterate them. A loss at a big club now is not just unacceptable, it’s almost a crisis. And the media I think plays its part here too. As well as that our general cultural decline and worrying drug use further exacerbates fan behaviour. As I’ve quoted here before, a psychiatrist/journalist was once asked to do a story on a football match between Italy and England quite a few years ago now – when he asked the England fans (many of whom were well educated professionals) why they were chanting obscenities at the Italian fans, their general response was, “Well, you’ve got to let your hair down every so often haven’t you?”. And therein lies the problem. Most think these things are an acceptable and normal way of de-stressing.
You can try and put a lid on it, but it won’t get to the root of the problem, which is a top down cultural decay. Most of the other issues are pretty much linked to this. Regrettably I think all you can really say is that things are going to get worse before they get better.

31st March 2022 at 9:46 pm #195185Mikus…such a good response. I do think the Journalistic hype and ex Pro’s do not help, Too much self analysis, statistics and tribal rhetoric. I just want it simple and enjoy a game of football, of course, I will support my team and wave my scarf, long ago it would have been a wooden rattle but I guess “elf and safety” would have shut that down quickly. The cultural decay, as you say, is alarming in society to day. Unfortunately we do not have any politicians, any party, strong enough to reverse it….too busy worrying themselves about parties and giving themselves another rise.

31st March 2022 at 10:10 pm #195186I will be interested to see how this new , young striker from Argentina fits into Peps plans, reports say he is very good but like most when joining a new club and a strange language and culture will take some time to settle/ Jesus fitted very well but he is not really a striker. Then we have Delap who has an opportunity…will he make it???? He will at another club because if Harland does arrive he will have tough competition. I am not sure , for all Harlands talents, if he is robust enough. Next season we will not be short of strikers but our game will have to change as well.

1st April 2022 at 10:58 am #195187Not directly related to football, but came across this article and agree.
Maybe there is a correlation that looms not too many years down the line with football. One obviously commonality I see is the overbearingness of commerce that has taken away the purity of the game.
I read an article involving Paul Parker on how he labels the Glazers as just one big ATM Machine and nothing else.

1st April 2022 at 7:57 pm #195191Nike…I also read this article…he had a point but it applies to other teams as well It is a guaranteed outlay in Dividends by some clubs no doubt that is why the commercialisation of the game has taken over. sad but true, cannot see it getting any better

3rd April 2022 at 10:57 am #195237Satisfied with that performance, although I expected Burnley to be a little tougher it was magical moments that undone them. I have to say that I thought Ake did a great job, as he does every time he is called on but it was a good team performance, just need to sharpen up on finishing
