City ladies unlucky, “hand of God” incident beat them but to be honest they should have won the game long before that. They will recover because they are good enough and when they get some players back. No pre season for them as well.

15th September 2021 at 9:58 pm #185165Cracking game, it had everything. Red card, own goal, hat trick great goals and KDB back, Foden also late on. Did not like giving them three goals at home though but they were well taken and credit Leipzig for trying to stay in the game.

16th September 2021 at 4:59 pm #185215I wouldn’t worry about the 3 goals conceded, Brian – no Stones, Laporte or Walker.
What is more of a concern is where is John Stones? Was he on the bench last night or did he pick up an injury in Poland?_____________________________

16th September 2021 at 6:53 pm #185227Think Stones was on the bench with Laporte My guess is he will play against Southampton or Wycombe a few days later, Needs some game time because some tough fixtures coming up. PSG, Chelsea and Liverpool. all away

16th September 2021 at 8:50 pm #185240I was wrong. Stones/Laporte NOT on bench, Watched the match to night, I must have misheard when I listened to GMR commentary last night. I still think he will be back sooner rather than later but have a feeling he will go for Dias/Laporte against PSG

17th September 2021 at 11:29 am #185250As to Peps comments, I think it was poorly misplaced but I also think he had a genuine wish for fans to turn up as well. There are mitigating circumstances for this but no excuses. It is difficult to understand any fans fickle mentality after all City play very attractive football every game they go into, you cannot win them all but on the flip side, I like many City fans of the past endured years of dire football, yet we still turned up, I believe it can be repeated with other teams. It was not that long ago when even OT had large empty spaces, more noticeable with a large capacity stadium. This is nothing about the club but the way fans re-act to events. If it is football related, if you are a true fan, it is questionable. If it is in any other way related. Affordability, Covid, family. it is justifiable

17th September 2021 at 2:34 pm #185255In fairness to city Brian mate they do fill the pl games. I thought capacity was 60k buts it’s 55k for pl games.
Also I read season ticket holders have to pay extra for champions league game so that’s a big extra exspense for the every day working class fan

17th September 2021 at 3:07 pm #185256Sean, that is true but in some ways it makes it more difficult to understand because City’s are a long way off being the dearest on a seat position basis. However, I think this one game has been over dramatised, after all, it was not a bad turn out either. we do fill other grounds though. The absence of 6K away supporters made a difference also, that is where most of the empty seats were. No logical answer to this Sean other than….”it happens” and will continue to do so, City will not be the only one in this issue

17th September 2021 at 3:13 pm #185257Sean…I stopped going to European games because the Eurocrats took my seat and they wanted to move me somewhere I did not want to go and pay more money. Like all teams, we have to give seats to European ViPs and entourage….hence my lack of support for Euro games and played mid week in the evenings. They should abolish the International friendlies and play them at week end. Why do they want them anyway, we do not have friendlies before more important EPL games!! Sorry Sean…just me having a moan again because I cannot get to the match!!

18th September 2021 at 1:55 pm #185304Southampton…not really looking forward to this as much…they have a habit of unsettling us. Depends on the CB pairing to day and get Walker back in. I am not sure about LB, nether Cancelo of Zinchenko can defend I would be tempted to use Ake but I guess we will know soon enough.

18th September 2021 at 7:34 pm #185354The game went just as I thought, a draw was a fair result in the end. We were just not at the races to day, the effort there but the quality was missing. KDB and Foden improved things and injected some desire but too little too late. I hope Pep does not fill the team with youngsters on Tuesday, I would not underestimate Wycombe who will have a go unless we get on top from the start/. Few attempts on goal to day also means we lacked midfield control and passing quality. Grealish had a good game though

18th September 2021 at 7:37 pm #185355Cityboy. as you know , I am not a Sterling fan when it comes to finishing so I would agree. Just too wasteful to day and nobody organising the passing, not even Fernandinho which is unusual. We move on and have to accept two points dropped at home.

21st September 2021 at 9:41 am #185481I do not know about resting players, we need to build a rhythm again. I think he will play between 2/4 Academy players at some point though. I also remember Wicombe beating is at Maine Rd!!!!! Stones/Laporte have to be got ready, the next three fixtures , all away Chelsea, PSG and Liverpool are probably the hardest trio to play on the bounce. If we get through this I will be more than happy.

21st September 2021 at 9:43 am #185482PS to last….The rhythm is important to City play…when we have it….no need for a striker …when we do not have it…we need one

21st September 2021 at 4:55 pm #185487If you listen to the words and the explanation it is self evident. Some City fans, surprisingly have jumped on a bandwagon too soon and without understanding what was said. I thought it was perfectly understandable…he has asked for fans to show up for Wycombe as well…we will be lucky to get 10K though and maybe more Wycombe fans!!!! The point has not been missed by Pep…just listen to the explanation

21st September 2021 at 9:54 pm #185515All the youngsters did us proud to night, a full Academy defence and young Palmer scoring his first City goal after he subbed Torres. No surprise to me since I have been following them but I see McAtee making the team at some point, reminds me very much of Foden who was MotM to night
