Just to illustrate the point. I watched City v Birmingham youth teams in action to night and it was a credit to both teams and officials
Yes taclkes went in, no play acting, just get on with the game, no arguments with Ref although I thought some decisions, not many, a little harsh against both teams. The game was really entertaining, only stopping for team changes….I then thought…this was how it used to be, just a pity that these lads will be sucked into the pantomime game as we have it now
Ialso noted 3/4 City lads we will see in the first team in 2/3 years. Delap I was dissapointed with to night, although he scored 2 goals he should have played better considering has trained with the first team and even played a cameo part, passing poor and just did not do enough for the team. I think he needs to be out on loan and gets some hard experience his potential is there but even at young age he should be more of a threat in this league_____________________________

12th March 2021 at 9:21 pm #176523“For the second month in a row, English football club Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been named Premier League player of the month, the league announced on Friday.
“Proud to win the @PremierLeague Player of the Month award again β but I am most proud of being part of this amazing team @ManCity. Thanks to everyone!” Gundogan said on Twitter.
Gundogan, 30, became the first Manchester City player to win back-to-back Player of the Month awards after winning the prize for February.
By scoring four goals and one assist in the month, Gundogan became the first German to win the accolade more than once, the Premier League added in the statement.”
Well deserved lads Gundogan is a pleasure to watch.

13th March 2021 at 12:03 pm #176528Nine, always liked what I called a “schemer” from way back. City have had some really good ones, not always playing with the best team but I do rate Gungdoghan up amongst them. City had Broadis, Hannah, Black, they had a style of play. Utd had Johnny Morris, Henry Cockburn then there was Raich Carter Wilf Manion, Frank Soo, Willie Hall and Eric Thornton.etc etc..all worth the entrance fee to watch what they could do with the ball. They would fit into any modern day team, different to strikers and wingers but a team would always try and stop them playing first.

13th March 2021 at 12:07 pm #176529Nine…just to add, teams in older generations did not have the mobility of modern teams so the art of the schemer was important for the era, not quiet the same to day but nevertheless the Silvas etc would have run riot in bygone days if they could avoid the tackles!!!

13th March 2021 at 9:58 pm #176550A very disjointed first half, probably due to the unusual set up and players Pep put out but good improvement in the second half. Another clean sheet, I think that is more than last season now. I am expecting KDB, Zinchenko to be back in place of Mendy for Tuesday Augerro on bench again. Mahrez back for Torres. Gundogan back.

15th March 2021 at 11:38 am #176604Aguero to Barca on a free transfer seems to be a rumour gathering pace in Spain and now over here with Messi staying?

15th March 2021 at 2:30 pm #176608I am sure that will happen, as you say. It thanks Augerro for his service and gives him an opportunity to play with his pal Messi. Just hope we do not meet those two next season!!!

15th March 2021 at 2:55 pm #176612Wonderful player Brian, brilliant career at City. Looks like under Laporta Barca are beginning to get the train back on the tracks again.

16th March 2021 at 7:45 pm #176628Well, Pep has surprised me again with the team selection for to night. That bench looks pretty good though if things are not working out. I prefer Cancello at RB not LB though but the left side looks useful with Cancelo, Bernardo and Foden. Mahrez and Walker on the right

17th March 2021 at 11:18 am #176630Did anybody notice how the referee last night allowed the game to flow not blowing up every five seconds for non fouls as we get in every game in the EPL.
Two players challenge for the ball one falls over. No fouls last night. Oliver et al can’t wait to blow._____________________________

18th March 2021 at 4:36 pm #176650Adlab…just shows youdonot need VAR if you have a good Ref and assistants!!! Now they are talking about X-Rays limbs!!!!! Yo cannot make it up….all to do makeing it more entertains for TV and statistic people. Get back to the simple game, better officials through bettertraing…mistakes will always be made…even with VAR!!!!!

19th March 2021 at 4:47 pm #176679Tough CL draw. If we beat Dortmund we face the winners of PSG and BM. Do think we have a decent chance as defence is much stronger this season.

19th March 2021 at 7:50 pm #176683GI….well I think none of the teams left will fancy playing City either in current mood but I always fear the unexpected. There are no bad teams left and all equally can lift the trophy. I do think the mental toughness does play a part but for me it is hard not to think of the odd wonder goal or sending off that will decide some games and then there is always VAR!!!!! I also suspect too many British teams left!!!

20th March 2021 at 7:49 pm #176711That was hard work to night. It is always difficult playing against defensive formations but we still did not have a cutting edge until Pep changed his tactics and brought on subs. I still do not understand why defensive formations are used in a Cup game. Everton prooved to night that when they attack they are good, they just do not do it often enough. Fernandino…what can you say about this player, at his age and playing like he was 10 years younger….Brilliant. MotM for me

21st March 2021 at 12:52 pm #176733Totally agree about Fernandinho, Brian. Just think his passing is more accurate and quicker than Rodri’s, he is more mobile and his drive from HMF is phenomenal, even at 35 yo. Wonderful player and in the position he plays, he just gets better with age. With managing his playing time, I still think he could do a job for us for at least another season, maybe two. Wish he were 10 years younger.
When we talk about City legends, we naturally think of Silva, Komps, Aguero, Yaya, Zaba, etc, but for me Ferna is right up there with them._____________________________

21st March 2021 at 12:56 pm #176734Cityboy, yeah Foden had a great game. He really is going to be some player and honest as the day is long too. I know he’s a very good player now, and this is a very bold prediction but he could become one of the world’s best in the next 2/3 years.
