Ruben Dias is a good signing for City, the only decent signing so far this season.

2nd October 2020 at 11:38 am #167912Just what we wanted, a good re bound performance. Laporte easing his way back, moor good youngsters emerging. EVEN…MENDY. having a good game….wish he would build on that but still have reservations

3rd October 2020 at 7:35 pm #167962A good game played in difficult conditions. Credit both teams for effort. Disappointed in draw but plenty of games left yet. At the moment we appear to be starting OK then ease off. That needs to be sorted but it was difficult to night and Leeds are good value for a point

3rd October 2020 at 11:21 pm #167983Win,draw,lose – it’s a bit like the old City although draws were fairly rare against Leeds. Leeds played well, City need a striker – that’s about it.

4th October 2020 at 11:49 am #167989Surrey Blue…I know what you mean but do not think it is as bad as that, The City of old were dreadful in many aspects, then world beaters the next, always found it difficult to adjust to that. Apart from the odd game you will always see effort put in now, I would be tempted to say and start scoring but that will come, I feel sure about that. We do not possess a real striker in Augerro mould. Sterling scores but have never considered him as a striker. Jesus, works his socks off and keeps defenders busy for 90 minutes but again, not a striker I think pep wants mobility and say 6/7 player that can score 10 goals or more from the system he plays Agree or not, he has a point because if you have a system that creates the opportunity a professional footballer should be able yo put his boot through the laces and score more often than no….at the moment…it is not…but the chances were there. I’m more concerned about the easing off after 40 minutes or so

4th October 2020 at 6:40 pm #168034Brian, saying itβs like βold Cityβ was my attempt at irony. I clearly remember what it used to be like and comparisons are to no avail. The likelihood is that matters will improve short term as players return. Nevertheless, it appears that all has not gone well in the succession planning game with Kompany, David Silva and Aguero the prime examples.
cityboy54 – call me old fashioned but I think the absence of goals comes from the absence of a striker. I think thatβs at least as big a problem as weakness at left back. As mentioned above, I know itβs difficult to realise plans in most businesses, but I occasionally wonder if all parts are not quite gelling as they might just now at City. Perhaps thatβs to be expected as it deals with demanding expectations._____________________________

5th October 2020 at 7:57 pm #168171True, we are not buzzing inthe same way, well, we do for about 60 minutes of the game, it is when they ease off is my concern, shows lack of focus. I am hoping the new signings at the back will change that, given a bit more solidity but KDB needs some help with the workload, I see Bernandho being that player more than Foden, who still needs to find his feet, but he is young and good enough to do that eventually. I do see a turn over of players coming though

5th October 2020 at 9:26 pm #168175Hope youβre right on the remaining Silva, but he seems to be on pause and has a way to go before he contributes in the same way as David. Speaking of which,I also could never understand the stuff about Foden taking on the D Silva role, certainly in the near term.

6th October 2020 at 8:56 am #168185Foden..I agree with you, he is a wonderful prospect but never in a Silva role, different type All together. Bernando also will not be the same but he is capable of better link play and does communicate with KDB better, just like Silva in that respect.

6th October 2020 at 9:54 am #168187Good news – Aguero back in training.
My God do we need him back. It’s all fine spreading the goals around the team and yes, we are probably the best equipped team in the PL to get goals regularly from all our front six. However, it’s those ‘poached’, six yard box goals that we are missing.
In respect of the defence, Ake needs to be given a run at LB – Mendy, as demonstrated again on Saturday, makes far too many basic errors. Even his attacking ability has deteriorated – when he first signed, his low, pacey crosses created so many opportunities, which to some degree ‘masked’ his defensive shortcomings. I do, however, think his injuries have contributed to this.
The PL picture has changed quite a bit over the last 12/18 months and now there are more teams capable of creating problems for us. As a result, there is a greater emphasis on defenders being able to defend as well as being able to attack._____________________________

22nd October 2020 at 3:25 pm #168869Generally pleased with last two performances but we are not near our best yet, probably due to an unsettled team but these day you have to cope with such things. I watched the EDS match against Leicester and was rightly impressed with No4 at CB, sorry, at time of writing my memory gone blank but looks one for the future along with Harwood Bellis. Missed David Silva but Gungdoghan played well and the player I have criticesed most, Kyle Walker, is having a new lease of life. The five cards for City was a bit harsh

24th October 2020 at 2:43 pm #168965The chances were there but we did not take them. West Ham played a strong defensive game and worked it well. Cancello..had his best game for City, so I take that as a plus from this game but Gungdoghan and Bernardo are excellent midfield players but not goal scorers. Augerro getting back but he is far from his best yet, somebody will suffer eventually. Pn the above basis a draw was probably a fair enough result, Fabianski MotM

24th October 2020 at 2:48 pm #168966go blues…I would say Ake would be the best choice at LB but Cancello is improving, Zinchenko I doubt will make it and Mendy, sorry..he needs to move on. Ake is not quick but no slouch either but he can tackle and reads game well, he would be my choice at the side of Laporte and Dias

25th October 2020 at 2:04 pm #169114cb54 – yep, that’s been apparent for quite a while now. But an Aguero replacement (like for like) is probably impossible so presumably City spends the next few months working on a new approach, or maybe that process continues into next season if Pep moves on in 2021. It’s too early to call, but the Club is likely to have to improve materially from now on to make top 4 this season. This is probably not what the owners were expecting….

25th October 2020 at 2:51 pm #169117We have not kept the standard up but I think we have had a lot of disruption with injuries, loss of form and some players cannot play out of position as expected, simply not good enough.
Pep will always try to entertain and win a match and I would not like that to change with him or any successor Augerro, well i think it is the demise of our talisman, so sad to see him struggle like this but he does give it a go when on the pitch and keeps defenders busy. I feel sure he will want to put in some performances before he leaves. I cannot understand playing Garcia, I thought he was one for the future but his mind is elsewhere and his performances to date are no better than Stones. Laporte worries me a little because he does pick up injuries as wellwhich leaves a big gap to fill. Dias will take longer to adapt to premier but he is a good player who will be solid later. Apart from the Leicester fiasco, we have just ticked over but I am still optimistic we shall finish well, doubt we will win it but should to pick up silverware I would also give this young lad Torres a run and rest Sterling/mahrez. KDB back should make a difference as well_____________________________

25th October 2020 at 6:15 pm #169134AnonymousSaw this stat in the BBC match report between Everton and Southampton.
“Everton’s defeat means this is the first English top-flight campaign since 1967-68 in which no sides are unbeaten through the first six matches.”
The wiki page entry is really quite nostalgic for a number of fans on here.
Manchester City won the league by 2 points ahead of runners up Manchester United.
Manchester United won the European cup.
West Brom won the FA cup through Jef Astle who’s family are currently campaigning agains head injuries.
Leeds had a good season, winning the league cup.Anyone old enough to recount some stories of the victory parties up north that summer?
Would anyone begrudge Leeds winning the league cup this year? Or what are the chances of the same two teams doing what they did back then this year.
Hope everyone is well.
