1st July 2020 at 2:42 pm #1259739s-If I were Lamps I would sacrifice the 2 most most overrated players in football today,in Jorginho & Kovacic, and go for Havertz. But I have a feeling he already has signed for Bayern.

2nd July 2020 at 10:46 pm #126074I don’t think City have lost a game by more than 2 goals in the last 3 seasons which is pretty impressive. You never see a drubbing of them. Even in an off season, they still score for fun. Get the defence sorted, and they’ll be right back up there next season.

3rd July 2020 at 8:56 am #126080The daily mail this morning gave a very negative view of City, playing on the fact we have a poor defence, well, it is certainly not as good as it should be but to get things in perspective we are 8 goals worse than Liverpools but look at the goals scored side as well. A very blinkered view and if the writer believed we had such a poor defence and with a rookie 19 yr old at CB it should have spelled a field day for the Liverpool attack. These things happen in football, it does not make Liverpool or City a bad team and the rest will have to pull there socks up next season to keep up with them

4th July 2020 at 8:30 pm #126146Re City defence….I would be the first to admit that our defence, including the keeper have made some bad mistakes, , not all down to CBs either, our full backs have gone missing at times, so, the clamour for a CB is over stated, OK we do need one because Otamendi will be going and Stones will not feature much and probably move on. Then again for those that like statistics over the 32 games to date City have let let 8 goals more than Liverpool and scored 11 more but we are still second, due to the lapses as mentioned I am not a lover of statistics however they are concocted because the only one that matters is the points column. I do believe City defence will improve and that should make us a better team, we will probably go for an experienced CB and a striker, from that point i would have confidence in our emerginging youngsters.

5th July 2020 at 9:19 pm #126231Started to slow to night, messed about in defence and our plan to put high balls into the box against tall defenders when you have small attackers is more than puzzling to me. Too many off there game to night and needed youngsters with a bit freshness about them, no excuses. The only thing that pleased me to night was David Silva efforts to change the game and young Garcia got another 90 minutes against a top scorer, Ings , and did Ok We need to find a striker…quick.
Mak…now you see what I meant previous post

6th July 2020 at 10:01 am #126246Another case of ‘typical City’ – itis v Soton, but I somtimes wonder if City has the record over several seasons of top level competition in England for most instances of:
1. opposition outfield players scoring on their first appearance/this season/for a hell of a long time and
2. opposition goalies who make most saves ever under similar circumstances as in 1. above.
Unlikely that such stats are kept, but I’d wager City has walked it!_____________________________

6th July 2020 at 10:50 am #126250Chelsea are nowhere near the level of City but watching the Southampton v City game yesterday reminded me very much of numerous Chelsea games I’ve watched this season an unlikely goal by a hard working team that City total dominated with chances to score wasted.
Yesterday further confirmed as as good as Jesus might be he’s no replacement for Aguero.
It’s going to be an interesting Summer.

6th July 2020 at 11:09 am #126251Surrey, I remember a Cup game with my Spuds away to Everton, with Spuds winning 2-0 with about 20 to play. Everton brought on a striker (can’t remember who it was now!) but I do remember the commentators almost laughing when the mentioned the striker in question hadn’t scored for 14 games or something… anyway, 1 x 8 minute hattrick later and we were knocked out 3-2… beat that for a “weird stats against my team award!”

6th July 2020 at 2:49 pm #126286Pep is still the Benchmark and the one to beat in my eyes. There is a lot of high quality talent with technical ability, aggression and versatility, plus more choice. Something I feel Liverpool slightly are lacking in depth.
The League reminds us that in my eyes, it’s in it’s best position as far as competitiveness goes where anybody can beat anybody.
Pep’s got to find (once everyone is fully fit), the right first 11 and allow these players to establish themselves. Naturally some players are getting on and in the next 1 to 2 years will need replacing – perhaps a new era too.
I hope he sticks at it and would be interesting to see him being allowed to rebuild.

6th July 2020 at 2:50 pm #1262883×9 – sadly Jesus is no SA and up front is just one section of the City rebuild that must be attempted.
SoS – I reckon I’ve seen the odd game that Arsenal haven’t dominated over the years but admittedly there can’t be many!
Yep, I know all teams wonder how they lost a particular game from time to time, but I still reckon that the ‘new’ City (say post Mark Hughes as manager) would take the record for the most combinations of the two criteria I set out. But unfortunately I can’t prove it so it has to remain as a general impression._____________________________
