Adlab, I’m not sure what “I agree. Put it to bed.
If it lingers on those who have gone very quiet will have some explaining to do.” means? But just on Jose and Jose alone he misunderstood. The fine was purely for not cooperating with the investigation alone.

14th July 2020 at 5:34 pm #128309I’ve gone very quiet as I don’t have much more to say. Guilty as charged, got off on a technicality, and basically stained for Γ©ver. I’ve read the e-mails, saw what they contained, and for the life of me don’t understand how City fans can claim innocence on the basis of the e-mails being obtained under questionable circumstances.

14th July 2020 at 6:27 pm #128310Yeah really nothing more can be said on this one. Nobody who has read the emails can honestly say they’re anything but guilty. You can only congratulate them on winning the legal case though and getting away with it. Certainly not a reflection on the fans, who going by the City fans on here, are a decent bunch!

14th July 2020 at 10:11 pm #128363I have to come back one last time to answer Chuky’s point. The e mails were illegally obtained, further , the e mails were subjected to added comment which put a different interpretation on the whole thing.
The guy that did it for UEFA is now under house arrest awaiting trial.
as to the time limit, even with time allowed, the probability would have been UEFA would have won it.

I honestly canβt say Iβve read anything about any of this as Iβm
Really not bothered
But IF emails have been obtained illegally and then edited to look bad isnβt that wrong?

14th July 2020 at 11:18 pm #128417AnonymousBrian, I don’t mind at all that the emails were illegally obtained. Why should that matter at all? Our opinions don’t nor shouldn’t have the same kind of restrictions that a court of law must have. There are situations where it matters how information is obtained but this isn’t one of them.
Damning evidence of City’s guilt, is damning evidence of City’s guilt, illegally obtained or otherwise. I don’t know about you but I am not following this sport to judge the virtuous/nefarious acts of some nameless entity, who broke the law to obtain the smoking gun. I follow and care much more about the goings on in this sport by the major clubs and parties within. My team competes in these competitions and these competitions must have integrity, before we even discuss the integrity of someone who’s identity that I’m not even aware of.
If you asked which side I lean to, I’d say that I can see the virtue in someone who’s willing to break the law in order to expose the corruption within the sport. I guess for easier understanding, you could draw lines to the likes of Batman. Long may such people exist, if you ask me (the email leaker, not Batman :P). Beats the hell out of continuing along with lawful order on the surface and corruption below it.
Those are just my set of rules and we’re all welcome to have our own.
Now lads, the reason I came here to post at all in the first place was to mentioned the managers responses. Again, I am pleased to see what Klopp said. If i ever heard bad news, I’d want to hear it from Klopp. Jose, although I can see what he was maybe saying, was illogical about it. It is however Pep’s response that sparked this. The absolute cheek of him to ask for an apology. I will hold back my true thoughts on the matter in order to not draw the City fans on here, who are already a bit sensitive about this but he can stick his pathetic demand for an apology where the sun don’t shine.
Bring on next season is the last thing I’ve got to say.

14th July 2020 at 11:32 pm #128425I would congratulate City for winning their appeal. that is good for the Champions League. managers like Pep and players like KDB and Aguero are star attractions. without offending Leicester, I would rather have City representing the PL than Leicester.

If your only defence is an objection to how you got caught, swiftly followed by “Anyway, that’s not quite how we did it!” I’m can only suggest you simple celebrate getting away with it.
I certainly wouldn’t be asking for an apology like certain people, the balls on the man!! π

15th July 2020 at 5:42 am #128616AnonymousChucky, I was really surprised by Pep saying that, as he’s usually a very sensible, honourable, self-aware man. This response was none of those things. I have never considered Pep to lean heavily on the victim mentality, like I do feel the City fans can do (sorry, just being honest… and it’s not like Liverpool FC live in a glass house here either). He’s done so here and come out blasting, even though we know for a fact that City were actually guilty. This isn’t conjecture, we know this… So why would we ever consider apologizing?
My only thought on this is that what we’ve heard here from Pep is a releasing of a lot of pent up stress. We can only guess at his thoughts, while they faced 2 years out of Europe, or the conversations that had been taking place. To the public, Pep was defiant and himself and the team showed no cracks in their resolve but maybe this says something different. That’s my only guess at it and if I’m correct then a part of me is pleased for Pep, as I respect him as a coach and even as a man but I think he should have kept his mouth shut here, of course.

15th July 2020 at 7:59 am #128690AnonymousWhen reporting on hacked emails can go wrong. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/dm-deleted-syria-story/
But in the case of the city breaching FFP rules…. they did it and got off on a technicality, probably because City’s legal team dragged the process out knowing it would hit a technicality. Way to go City’s legal team.

15th July 2020 at 10:39 am #128781Whatever your views on this whole city mess are. “UEFA is a Protection racket for a few” is the truest statement i’ve read on this thread. FFP has nothing to do with fairplay, and is meant to preserve the aristocracy in football. I can think of 10 things straight off the bat that would better introduce fairplay into football, than limiting an owners spending power. Ie Max Transfer Cap, Max Salary Cap. Independent Panels to determine the value of a player. This would be messy to introduce but things would iron out in a season or two. Of course this much like FFP would be open to exploitation and corruption, but sadly that’s elite level sport these days.
