6th February 2023 at 10:39 am #203870“Manchester City have been charged by the Premier League with numerous alleged breaches of financial rules.
The charges relate to financial information regarding revenue, details of manager and player remuneration, UEFA regulations, profitability and sustainability and co-operation with Premier League investigations.
The Premier League has referred the alleged offences – which date back to the 2009/10 season – to an independent commission”

6th February 2023 at 10:41 am #203872BBC offered more clarity on dates than Sky
“It has referred the club to a commission over alleged breaches between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.
In 2020 City had a two-year ban from European club competitions overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas), after Uefa had ruled that City committed “serious breaches” of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations between 2012 and 2016.”

6th February 2023 at 10:42 am #203873But Adders has already declared them innocent and that those emails we all read were a figment of our imagination… somebody best let the FA know… π

6th February 2023 at 11:20 am #203874I think I’ll keep quiet until both arguments have been heard, right now we have only heard from the FA, I’ll wait till City comment

6th February 2023 at 11:33 am #203875‘It will be expensive and will drag on’ – analysis
BBC Sport’s Simon Stone“On the basis it has taken the Premier League four years to get to this point, do not expect a resolution to this case any time soon.
Manchester City have always denied financial wrongdoing. They always said the detail published by Der Spiegel when it was passed information by Football Leaks was incomplete.
When Uefa launched its case, City said they had no faith in that investigation and, when it went against them, they went straight to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where they were cleared of what they regarded as the substantive allegations, even though some were timed out.
They will be armed with the very best lawyers, looking line by line at every element of the Premier League’s case.
The charge sheet includes five years of allegations that City have not assisted with their inquiry – which is all of it.
The whole thing will be expensive and it will drag on.
City manager Pep Guardiola has always said he was assured by his employers that they have done nothing wrong. Others – La Liga president Javier Tebas is one of the loudest voices – argue vehemently the other way.
Should City win, legally, they will be clear, even if the sniping will continue.
Should they lose, all manner of punishments can be handed down. The Premier League’s scope in that sense is completely open-ended and we are in uncharted territory.
We are now beginning a very long end game. City’s reputation – and the reputation of those who own it – is on the line. The outcome, whenever it comes, will be fascinating.”

6th February 2023 at 11:36 am #203876Come on Shiney… they’ll deny everything, employ 6 million lawyers, claim it’s witchhunt, and use every “tie it all up in knots” tactics known to mankind…
This is all going to come down to how can afford the biggest bill when it comes to the legal eagles, and we who know who’s got the deeper pockets…
I’ll be amazed if they’re found guilty at the end of it, regardless of whether they’ve actually done it (which they have) or not!!

6th February 2023 at 11:39 am #203877I would love to know how the “emails” were considered “incomplete”… claiming it is one thing, obviously, but I would love to see the evidence proving it… which we will never see obviously…
And I very much doubt their “reputation” can be tarnished any further… π

6th February 2023 at 11:39 am #203878Although I have seen none of the evidence I think itβs pretty clear that city should be docked points immediatelyβ¦ 15 should do for now π

6th February 2023 at 11:46 am #203880+1 for sending them to the Scottish 5th division π. Just as with the Uefa one, I expect absolutely nothing to come of this.

6th February 2023 at 11:48 am #203881I think worst case scenario for city is relegation listening to talksport but how many of the charges stand is to be determined

6th February 2023 at 11:59 am #203882If they go down, would happily take Foden, De Bruyne, Ederson and Rodri so they don’t have to move from Manchester. They can keep Haaland as I am curious to see how many goals he can score in a 46 game season.
Joking aside, City fans need not worry. They’ll have the best lawyers money can buy and this will swiftly be swept under the carpet.

6th February 2023 at 12:02 pm #203884Doesn’t look very good. Most of these so called charges are relatively minor.
I think this will be a long drawn our legal battle.
But just us? I think not.
We will see what happens. If this is followed up as it looks like then other clubs finances will have to be scrutinised, City will make sure of that. But time will tell._____________________________

6th February 2023 at 12:05 pm #203887Adlab, everyone is being scrutinised. This is not a result of the authorities deciding to focus on city and ignoring everyone else.
You are right, all breaches of rules should be investigated no matter the club.

6th February 2023 at 12:10 pm #203889Of course they will wiggle out of it. There’ll be some weird technicality that the mega rich City lawyers will find and even though the evidence will point to cheating City fans will tell us it was made up and an agenda against them. Or somehow its Liverpool and Utds fault. Or the London based press. Or some anti Arab thing.
