Ed I agree and admitted as much on this thread. Must be anoying for you watching Burnley play football on such a small budget compared to united under Mouriniho who so often choses not to. Would anoy the hell out of me.?

3rd February 2018 at 1:53 pm #14547AnonymousI absolutely stand by what I said and the “ciao” part isn’t that he’s leaving Utd, it’s that he’s no longer the medias darling. They backed his shit for so long, even all the times when he was a complete psycho, because he was entertaining. He’s fallen from “grace” now.
I wonder if he were to jab another manager in the eye today would the reaction be so muted? He’s a despicable little piss-midget and there’s no better place for him I guess.

3rd February 2018 at 2:11 pm #14553Not watching to be honest Jim but fair play to them if they’re playing well.
Does it annoy me that a few games every season we play to not lose, in a few big games away from home? Yes of course. Again, I’m happy to accept my manager’s flaws without hesitation. But, as long as he’s winning trophies like last season where he won 2, who am I to question his methods in such a few amount of games? If we’re not winning trophies it’s another matter. How spoilt would I need to be to not be happy winning trophies but insist on us going all guns blazing in every game while doing so?
Arsenal play much prettier football than Utd but find me a happy Arsenal fan and I’ll find you a liar. City played some great stuff last season but loads of City fans were disappointed with Pep as you didn’t win anything.

3rd February 2018 at 2:48 pm #14564True Ed, but comes to a point where surely you cant just accept everything your manager does just because hes winning trophies. I said it before I can’t see Mouriniho coming ahead of Pep in this league, our style of play is so much better and will get better still next season with the age of the squad. Mouriniho is being out thought and despite spending massively more than the rest of the chasing pack you are effectively still fighting for a top four spot. Imo Pochetino is doing as good a job on a fraction of the budget, and Spurs are playing better football. Sure Pep has spent a fortune but it shows on the pitch and in the results! Jim

3rd February 2018 at 2:55 pm #14566Jim, to be fair Poch has been at Spurs since 2014 and Mourinho at United since 2016 another two years down the line and I suspect United will be a lot stronger and had Mourinho inherited the squad Pep did at City things might be very different.
Don’t spoil it mate you City lads have been humble and thankful for what you were witnessing don’t go all Billy Big Boots on us.?

3rd February 2018 at 2:58 pm #14569Granted Jim, it currently looks very unlikely that Mourinho could manage a side to finish above City. Wouldn’t disagree there. However, when you consider that he did just that with his Madrid side while Pep had probably the greatest club side ever, with arguably the greatest player ever, it’d be a tad naive to suggest he couldn’t do it again, particularly considering the size of budget he’s likely going to be given to do so.
I’ve yet to hear anyone mention a viable alternative to Jose who has a proven track record in the top levels of football. Poch is at Spurs and has things good there. He’s not won a thing though, so it’d be a massive gamble to go for him, if we could even prise him away. Ancelotti is way too nice to manage Utd. You need a certain arrogance to manage Utd and doesn’t have that. Any other ideas? We can’t just continue to change managers every year in the hope we eventually get it right, especially after decent progress under Mourinho from the LVG era.

3rd February 2018 at 3:08 pm #14573What I do not understand about Mourinho’s latest comments
“City will win title, City have been lucky”. Has he given up with plenty of games and points. I would not like to think of a City collapse too much but nothing is settled until it is mathamaticaly certain and we are a lot of games away from that point. Utd,Arsenal (twice), Chelsea, Spurs and Basle coming up in February there are no give away’s in that. I would also loose faith in Pep if he had commented like that

3rd February 2018 at 3:11 pm #14574Haha nine no intention of ruining it mate But let’s be honest about things nothing would please me more aside from winning a trophy than Mouriniho and United team having to clap City onto the pitch at the Etihad. Its football rivalry at it’s best. I’ve had to put up with decades of united dominance and I never thought I would see the day when we would win something let alone be competing at the level we are now. If I can’t pull the United lads and the Eds legs abit on this forum now I never will have the chance. It’s nothing personal. I certainly don’t hate or loathe United like some and even some in my family, I drink with a mate whos a United fan, my neighbour also a friend is also a red and I have employed several United fans but never a City fan? My brother in law a massive blue would never do that lol. Infact we offered a job a few years back to a City fan and he accepted then changed his mind and went to Australia the tosser lol. Where I work we have two Liverpool fans, a United fan, a Stoke fan and me! The rest sadly don’t follow football and the banter and wind ups are all good. Jim

3rd February 2018 at 3:16 pm #14577Jim, all good mate and all the City guys humility you included in doing what you’re doing in the way you’re doing has been a joy to behold imo.
Nothing wrong with a little bit of banter though especially after living in United’s shadow for so long. ? Cheers 999

3rd February 2018 at 3:56 pm #14583I think Banjo probably spoke the wisest of words when he proclaimed that all managers are asshats. Mourinho didn’t exactly cover himself in glory in the past. But Pep isn’t a saint either. Wasn’t he once caught juicing as a player? And his quote about not spending when you could be promoting youth seems a tad hollow his time at City so far considered.
I’m happy to admit Pep is a very good manager. One of the best around.
But so is Mourinho. Football and the way it’s played is also a matter of personal taste. I never was entertained by tiki-taka. I always preferred a more direct style of play. Mourinho’s previous sides could be entertaining in My opinion. This side has the potential to be. But we still have shitloads of deadwood, and you can’t replace them all at once._____________________________

3rd February 2018 at 4:05 pm #1458890 mill to Juve, 40 mill to his agent, or did the agent take his cut from the 90, meaning Juve only got 40?

3rd February 2018 at 4:12 pm #14589No that’s incorrect. The fee was €105mil Eur of which a big chunk €27mil was paid to the agent. From Mr Marotta himself :
