28th December 2019 at 4:04 pm #57519Simply just funny to suggest refs are costing City the title. I mean it’s Jim Carrey making strange faces funny.
If a team that wins 17 out of 18 games is above you how can you blame anyone?
Liverpool are just a pretty well above average team. End off.All teams come to the end of the cycle at some point. Look at City: Otamendi, Fernandinho, Silva and Aguero all over 30 years of age. Mahrez, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Walker all 28 or older. No wonder the team is on the wane. 5 defeats in 19 games. Don’t blame the ref from the Wolves games for not being in the title race.

28th December 2019 at 5:08 pm #57521I think this site is blessed with some very decent and gracious City fans. Adlab let’s himself down but what he is saying seems to be a general consensus amongst many City fans it seems. This self entitlement to success and when it doesn’t go your way blame anyone and everything is embarrassing. I also find it very funny.
Adlab it would serve you credit it you stepped away from this attitude and show more grace towards a rival.
By the way, Sean’s right asking about the pen. No way, yellow card to a blatant dive in my opinion, yet VAR gave it to you. And even then when your player failed from the spot you got another go! So how does that stand with your theories that refs and VAR are helping Liverpool?
I actually think you need to get used to not being top dog for a bit. A lot of your team is old and needs replacing. Pep could go, he usually does when it gets tough, so a new man would need to change everything that was already in place to keep Pep happy.
Apologies to other City fans on here if I cause any offence.

28th December 2019 at 7:29 pm #57522Threeps, I shouldnโt really be applying to adlab. Iโve had my say on him many times
After var gave a penalty for Brighton when Keane stood on connollys foot unintentionally, the commitee said it was the wrong decision and no pens would be given for it
Many city fans have said the exact opposite to adlab

28th December 2019 at 7:43 pm #57524United have been the only team to my knowledge to win 3 League Titles in a row so that achievement alone is something in unique as special.
To win back-to-back League Titles in my book considering how tough and competitive the Premier League has become is Special too to credit to Manchester City. They have won 4 League Titles in this whole decade. I’d be absolutely over the moon and blessed.

28th December 2019 at 8:04 pm #57525I think what weโre seeing at Man City is the downside of the modern short term manager, most of these impact managers come to a club, invest in the team, have success, and then it all goes tits up and they get sacked. Pep has done a brilliant job and as such will not be getting sacked anytime in my opinion. However he has outlasted his initial spending, and the players he bought, trusted in, and, probably now has a bond with are getting older, approaching the tailing off of their career and in some cases probably becoming a bit complacent and more difficult to motivate.
Clearing out those players that he has probably got a bit of an attachment to and have been loyal servants to him is something most modern managers never have to do. For me it will be interesting to see what he does, and what Klopp does a few years down the line, they both come across as decent likeable characters which will probably make the task difficult for them……Pagan

29th December 2019 at 8:09 am #5752717 from 18 and what about the run before this season, the head and head battle with City to try and win the title last season or the fact they won game after game to win the Champions League. One loss in 50 something (and I disregard the Villa game in the Carabao Cup for obvious reasons). It’s currently Liverpool first and daylight second but City will be back to challenge big time next season.

29th December 2019 at 10:03 am #57532Some bizarre var decisions yday. Itโs totally ruining the game for me now. You just canโt celebrate a goal. Itโs taking away that first few seconds of euphoria when your team scores
They are contradicting themselves with so many decisions. They are finding ways with the bizarre drawing of lines to call players offside
Itโs a farce.

29th December 2019 at 10:35 am #57533I don’t see the point of “City will be back” What does that even convey? They were never down in the first place albeit challenged authentically, and last season too.
That’s the key the factor in all this. If you take yourself back to 2011 and 2019, 4 League Titles, plus numerous other Cups for me is effectively a Decade Of Dominance.
October 2011 beating Manchester United at Old Trafford 6-1 and winning that elusive PL Title for me is where they first made their name as one of the big boys. Robinho was bought long ago, but that didn’t count for anything because there was no showing of any consistency and challenge to Manchester United.
They will be back, however, the reality check is transition isn’t too far away. Players like Aguero, Silva, Fernandino will reach the end of their careers sooner than later.
If Pep through his own choice decides to stick around, his job effectively is to dismantle and rebuild.
In fairness, the only proven Master as this over a number of years is Alex Ferguson and he in fairness to him didn’t have at his disposal those type of Transfer funds like Pep.

29th December 2019 at 10:37 am #57534Sean, it’s things like Penalty retakes that spoil it for me mate. If you celebrate a Goalkeeper making a save, but then within seconds, the play stops and it gets ask to retake, you don’t know whether you’re coming or going.

29th December 2019 at 11:09 am #57535Pagan, itโs all about being somewhat ruthless and preparing for tomorrow. I think DirtyHarry mentioned on TT the other day about us needing to be prepared to potentially lose one of either Salah or Manรฉ in the summer, who may simply want a new challenge somewhere. But either way, if you keep buying new up and coming players who will start to push out the established players, that is the best way to maintain success and is more of a natural replacement of the squad as opposed to waiting until everyone gets older and having to replace the whole lot. It may be you have to move on players who are still around their peak to ensure you give tomorrowโs man a chance. But the problem with football as we all know is that it, like many things in life, is governed by fear. Fear of losing ground to other teams. So many teams donโt see the wisdom of doing such things, they get transfixed by the short term.

29th December 2019 at 12:18 pm #57538I am not blaming Refs injuries or anything else, we are where we are. We have lost games mostly to self inflicted mistakes that is the reality. No good crying over spilt milk but I do expect Pep to address the situation. I also do not think age of players is such a factor after all these are very experienced players and even with all the faults they were still a threat until recent losses, down to schoolboy errors, you only have to look at Sterling pass and Mendy dithering to see that. These were YOUNG players. Liverpool will win the title deservedly so and I hope they do it in style and not fall off the pedestal. As a City fan, despite our shortcomings it is a good team and people who write them off, and Pep, will have to watch the future unfurl I am happy Garcia and Foden be given more playing time, I expect them both to be starters next season

29th December 2019 at 12:56 pm #57540They need to get rid of this ‘Armpit’ as some sort of a Measuring Point. This is ruining the Offside Rule and Disallowing in my view A Goal. The only Positive I could say about this in fairness to the officials is that they have been consistent.

29th December 2019 at 1:14 pm #57541Nil, “I donโt see the point of โCity will be backโ What does that even convey? ”
I guess that was me mate.?
I just don’t think City have been at it in the PL this season for a variety of reasons and they’ve dropped well short of their usual high standards.
Even if City were at it this season they would have probably struggled to keep up with Liverpool but I don’t think they would be 14 points possibly 17 points behind.
Personally I think City will address their problems in the Summer and be competing for the title again next season but time will tell. Cheers 9’s

29th December 2019 at 2:15 pm #57545Nine, that thought never crossed my mind mate, I think it was just the comment question in itself. There’ll probably others putting forward the same thing on various other mediums.
It’s effectively just a case of being a victim of your own success and it’s harder in this day and age to sustain such dominance.
Cheers ๐

29th December 2019 at 2:24 pm #57546I believe that the FA,UEFA and FIFA should be penalising teams for playing a rubbish game.1st the game Everton vs Arse a few days ago,and now Burnley vs United, both games were painful for the eye,and each team should have 5 pnts deducted,@ least.

29th December 2019 at 2:27 pm #57549Nil-Unless the Spudsies pick themselves up and improve immensely next year, there wont be a team challenging Liverpool for the title but City. They are still the 2nd best team in the league as I dont see the Foxy ladies keeping it going, and most importantly, keeping all their best players either.
