I would expect this team to have a serious crack at back to back CLs considering their prolonged form this season. They have to be close to the best club side in Europe right now. The conistency is out of this world and that follows on from more than 4 months of relentlessly trying to run City down last season. Phenomenal football side and this run really does reopen the age old debate as to who is the better manager Pep or Jurgen. I tossed it around for a bit and voted for Jurgen back then as I reckon he would be an outstanding man manager and motivator, possibly more so than Pep and nothing has changed to make me waver only got stronger. Tactically there probably isn’t much at all in it.

27th December 2019 at 9:52 am #57439City will be a different team with their key players back and strengthened in the Summer and I’m sure Liverpool and City will go head to head for the title again next season.
The CL is a different kettle of fish clearly Liverpool can win it but good fortune plays a part in the CL and there are 3 or 4 potential winners left in the competition barring the unexpected.
But with the comfort of their lead in the PL if Liverpool get a bit of good fortune in the CL from February onwards they’ve got a real chance of defending their title but the best teams aren’t always the ones that win the CL.

27th December 2019 at 10:51 am #57441Good win for Liverpool. They exposed Leicester just as we did the week before. I think thats it for the title. The 30 year wait is over. We cant catch up that many points even when we get our long term injuries back.

27th December 2019 at 11:19 am #57443Wow! What a display by the Liberools! Devastating football, and tore Lesta to shreds and it wouldnt surprise me to see Liverpool go the entire season unbeaten.I can see Liverpool beating City away, easy.Thsi team is simply unplayable and have the best manager in the world of football.

27th December 2019 at 11:33 am #57444I think Klopp has actually conceded that it’s because of City raising the bar over recent seasons that it’s forced Liverpool to raise it too. Even drawing games now isn’t good enough. Had City not done so, I doubt Liverpool would now have such a big lead. Competition drives competition.

27th December 2019 at 1:15 pm #57447gj – you’re right! Thta was our most complete display this season by a distance. We just bossed the game from Minute One. Allison barely had a save to make as VVD and Gomez shackled Vardy totally, and going forward we were frightening…until we got in their box. We should have been out of sight by half time. Every player did his job almost to perfection. Hendo, Gomez and obviously Trent were simply outstanding.
Hendo is a player who divides alot of fans, not least our own fan base. What is the general opinion of him amongst those on here? For me he is the perfect captain for this team – never stops running, constantly barking orders to his team mates, constantly in the referees ear (something we haven’t had in recent years) and able to thread through some sensational passes to our front three. It could be argued he is one of our most creative players! The only area of his game where he does need to improve is in his finishing and shooting. He is Klopp’s general on the pitch – thoughts?
I do believe that if Wolves beat City tonight, it is all over. It should be now probably, but tonight’s result could seal it!

27th December 2019 at 1:43 pm #57448HH – I do think an awful lot of what Henderson does as captain goes unnoticed. He doesn’t have the hollywood moments of Gerrard, which seems to draw him some criticism, unfairly imo. Gerrard was a captain that would win you a battle or two, but Hendo seems to be a captain that might win us the war.

27th December 2019 at 2:10 pm #57452No, don’t worry, Harry! All opinions are welcome! I agree that it is only Liverpool fans who seem to appreciate his qualities, and as I said earlier not even all Liverpool fans, and I just don’t really understand this. I honestly believe he is one of our most important players, for many reasons, not least his leadership qualities.

27th December 2019 at 2:21 pm #57453Hightown, I think Henderson is a good player but I don’t think he would be at the top of most opposition fans wish list to sign whereas a lot of other Liverpool players would be.
But Henderson is doing a really good job for Liverpool in a variety of positions and that’s all that really counts and by next May Henderson will have a full set of the 3 best medals to win in football too.
I can’t believe the debate re Henderson on the Liverpool site, how long it’s been running and the some of vitriol it’s caused.

27th December 2019 at 2:38 pm #57454HH – I watched the offtheball roadshow where Roy Keane and Gary Neville were guests. Keanes views on why Man Utd became the dominant force in English football are very interesting. He obviously mentioned the talent that had come through the ranks etc, and Fergie being given time, but ultimately the point he made, was that it came down to professionalism. He said the liverpool lads at the time loved a drink and believed their own hype, and weren’t taking the game seriously. That is a complete contrast to today, where our captain and vice captain are t totals. This is a great example to all the younger players and new additions, and sets the tone for what the club is about at the moment.
9 – That thread is beyond an embarrassment. I made my points a few pages back I think, and it’s being going in circles even since. I do wish people could post without the personal insults. It’s so easy to disagree with someone without personally digging them out. It’s a lesson that needs to be learnt on these boards, and in wider society.

27th December 2019 at 2:40 pm #57455Just a general FYI. I will dig someone out if I feel they are trolling, but it seems to be non existent on this site, so no need.

27th December 2019 at 2:45 pm #57456totally right DH, tho with certain posters who are essentially trolls it can be very tough not to react sometimes when a discussion is ruined…the vitriol on that thread is immense, its the Pool version of AFC TV!
Hendo is a strange one, doesnt score much, and as i dont watch pool often its hard to comment, but you clearly arent playing with 10 men because of him and he therefore clearly does an important job for the TEAM…being apart of the current all conquering side should be enough to validate his imprtance
in a different way i think he is like Gilberto was for us, not eye catching but does an imprtant job and hard to be eye catching with the front 3 doing what they do and VVD getting the plaudits the other end!

27th December 2019 at 2:47 pm #57457Henderson is a player that always puts a shift in and does what the manager asks him to do. Which is the basic reason why Klopp relies on him so. I think he’s a very good passer of the ball, has the energy to press and when the team is on top, and there’s more space, he can look a very good player. It’s when the team isn’t playing so well or we’re up against a defensive side, that he then seems to go under the radar and then the criticism comes regarding his “playing safe” style at times. But then I suspect that’s not really why he’s in the team – he’s in the team because as I said at the start, he follows to a ‘T’ what the manager wants. And anything else he can do on top of that is a bonus. That’s the way to view Henderson for me.

27th December 2019 at 2:53 pm #57460HH-I agree,Liverpool should have had 4 or 5 in the 1st half alone, especially Mane could have had a hattrick alone, such devastating were Liverpool.Gomez is a fantastic player, and TAA is ridiculously good.

27th December 2019 at 3:07 pm #57461999 – that’s my point…Henderson wouldn’t be at the top of other club’s fans lists of players, but my argument is that he should be. There is not one iota of prima donna in him, and equally importantly he knows his strengths and weaknesses. He hasn’t got the finesse of a David Silva, he hasn’t got the shooting ability of a KDB or the goal scoring ability of a Dele Alli (??). But he’s very good at an awful lot, so I just don’t understand why he’s not better appreciated by others, including some of the idiots on the Liverpool TT pages.

27th December 2019 at 3:54 pm #57462I wish to create a Jordan Henderson Thread – I truly like Guy!
He has been known though to be a bit on the casual side and is better in his own role when he’s complimented by very good players around him. With that in mind, he’s growing in maturity and he is Special to us 🙂

27th December 2019 at 3:59 pm #57463Rodgers has been humble in defeat and has made a point about a ‘Reality Check’ for Leicester. To be fair, they’ve been a good side this season. They just weren’t at the races or the Reds were just too much for them.
The players showed us a lot of respect. Their fans seemed quiet today. They seem to think they can just walk into 2016 like yesterday. You have to be of quality, and you have to work hard and be consistent.
For the first time this season, I thought we used all our gears and played to our true potential. Granted, there have been games where we’ve been lucky and probably deserve the wins, but those experiences and outcomes are what gets you over the line to be Champions.

27th December 2019 at 4:17 pm #57464NB – it was a great performance, and very good to see. Maybe our trip away has turned into a bit of a revitilsing warm weather camp, with a trophy on top. Atm it really feels like nothing can go wrong, and I don’t know whether I like or not. I think I do haha
