Is this one where we just go through the motions of a punishment, an appeal, a reduction of the punishment and/or further fine?
Or will the punishment stick? If I was a Chelsea fan, part of me could live with it, particularly if it forced the club to turn to some of its youth players. Would Abramovich see it that way though?

22nd February 2019 at 11:43 am #33943The Club have already announced it will appeal Mikus on the basis they don’t think they’ve done anything wrong? It will go first to FIFA and then to CAS. The FA have been fined by FIFA too?

22nd February 2019 at 11:44 am #33944“Chelsea FC has today received a decision from the FIFA Disciplinary Committee concerning alleged breaches of the FIFA Regulations that relate to the international transfer of players under the age of 18. The decision imposes a transfer ban of two consecutive registration periods and a fine of 600k Swiss francs. Chelsea FC categorically refutes the findings of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and will therefore be appealing the decision.
The club wishes to emphasise that it respects the important work undertaken by FIFA in relation to the protection of minors and has fully cooperated with FIFA throughout its investigation. Initially, Chelsea FC was charged under Articles 19.1 and 19.3 in relation to 92 players. We welcome the fact that FIFA has accepted that there was no breach in relation to 63 of these players, but the club is extremely disappointed that FIFA has not accepted the clubβs submissions in relation to the remaining 29 players. Chelsea FC acted in accordance with the relevant regulations and will shortly be submitting its appeal to FIFA.”

22nd February 2019 at 1:59 pm #33952Sean, I don’t think anyone on here understands the ins and outs on all this it’s interesting though that the FA have also been fined alongside Chelsea which suggests whatever Chelsea may or may not have done wrong it was done with the FA’s approval?
It will go to appeal firstly back to FIFA and then to CAS as you suggest it could be overturned of reduced depending on the outcome of the appeals particularly the CAS appeal.
If it’s a negative outcome Chelsea will just have to deal with it it might be a cloud with a silver lining because it might force the best young players into first team reckoning and there are a number of those out on loan additionally as I understand it it doesn’t mean Chelsea can’t sign anyone they just can’t register them until the ban is over which if it were reduced to one Window window would mean any players signed in the Summer can play from January 1st if the ban was for instance reduced to one window.
More likely perhaps is that the appeals take time especially the CAS appeal which frees up the Summer window for Chelsea to do any transfer business lots of water to flow under the bridge yet imo before we know the final outcomes in relation to this. Cheers 999

22nd February 2019 at 2:46 pm #33957Chuckles, Chelseaβs use of the loan system is an innovative solution to the FFP regulations, you can question the morality of it but it is effective….Pagan

22nd February 2019 at 3:23 pm #33967Peggy…. absolutely, not for one minute suggesting they’re breaking the rules, just “abusing” them (when it comes to loans… obviously underage boys is a whole different matter!)

22nd February 2019 at 4:33 pm #33976AnonymousYa, while they appeal, the ban will almost certainly be put on hold , so you’ll have a window to prepare.
If that’s the case, Sarri won’t last kissing time. Chelsea will want to offer a big transfer window to a prospective new manager. It would be too big a risk to head into a 2 window ban with a manager who might not last to see either of them.
What would you then say to a new one “manage us bur yoy cant sigb anyibs fir a year…”
