You’ve lost me threeps you can’t have it both ways either “it was a remark Klopp shouldn’t have made” your words or it was “the only clubs that can confidently spend are the ones backed by very wealthy owners, the point I think Klopp was trying to make.”
Best left there buddie as as Sean said above “Any logical fan knows Chelsea have money to spend from the sales of players.”

12th September 2020 at 7:00 am #166007I think pretty much every club in the world would want N’Golo Kante. I have seen those reports as well. He is an incredible player and person and I certainly don’t want to lose him. He’s fundamental in terms of what I’m trying to do.
“We can obviously talk about the attacking players we have but someone like N’Golo and the work he does in midfield…
“It was a difficult year for him last year because of the injuries. He came into the season with an injury and it was a domino effect through the year. It was probably a culmination of four or five years of games, so I’m really excited to have him fit. He looks fresh, he’s a big deal to me.
“Of course I want to keep N’Golo.”
It’s not just about who we sign it’s about who we keep as well so it’s good to hear Frank’s positive views on Kante.😊

12th September 2020 at 7:13 am #166010Nine, I think the point theeeis is trying to make is, that klopp should have said nothing. Hate when managers come out with stuff like that as it’s really hypocritical.
The other point was that 3 clubs can really Spend what they want Even during a pandemic. That’s city, Chelsea and utd. Of course fffp comes into it .Liverpool can’t compete with that but don’t moan about it.
As I said I’ve absolutely no problem with how these clubs spend their money. Liverpool’s hands are tied. We have a new training ground etc. A new training ground wouldn’t effect city or Chelsea’s spending. So there is a massive difference even though klopp should not say it.
We literally cannot buy anyone unless we sell. That’s a huge problem when trying to stay at the top. We have used our money very wisely and the owners have ran the chub well. They run it as a business but our keen sportsmen aswell and want to see the club do well but we don’t have the mo ye the other 3 clubs have and we really have praised the opportunity of utd and Chelsea going through transitional periods. It’s remarkable what klopp has done in 5 years considering were this club was at

12th September 2020 at 7:55 am #166012Couldn’t disagree with any of that Sean although what Chelsea are spending this Summer is based on who Chelsea have previously sold and Chelsea have long been a Club that predominantly has to sell to buy too.
Had Chelsea not had a transfer ban they could have spent a large slice of what they received in transfer fees last Summer but they couldn’t then because of the transfer ban which is why they are spending what they had already received from sales out now.
Had Liverpool for instance sold Mane to Real Madrid for a lot of money do you think they wouldn’t have tried to replace him with the large fee they received or do you think they would have said no we can’t spend any of that money because of the pandemic? Very unlikely I would say.
I never intended to bring up what Klopp said about Chelsea because I didn’t want it to become a point of conflict with the Liverpool posters on here only after it popped up on the site did I comment. Cheers 9’s

12th September 2020 at 8:36 am #166013This side should be able to account for B.H.A.
Caballero; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger, Chilwell; Havertz, Kante, Kovacic; Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic.

12th September 2020 at 9:45 am #16601467, unfortunately both Ziyech and Chilwell are still on the injured list. Pulasic is in training but I suspect Frank may not want to risk him and he might start from the bench.
Silva only started training with us from today (Saturday) so he’s probably unlikely to be selected and Kovacic is suspended for this game due to us Red card in the Cup Final.
Given the above I think the team may look something like this: Kepa, Azpi,Zouma, Rudiger, Alonso/ Jorginho, Kante, Harvertz/ Mount,Werner,CHO.???
Have a feeling Frank might go with Kepa too ???

13th September 2020 at 8:11 am #166116West Ham have got the wrong owners and the wrong Manager and will do well to stay up this season however with Moyes as Manager they may well be tempted by Barkley plus £40m for Rice.
Is Declan Rice for that kind of money really necessary? Probably not but if Frank and Jody think he is and want him…….?
Need to get Mendy over the line asap.

15th September 2020 at 2:53 am #166185AnonymousI think they could spend 40m wiser. Buy some mid tier La Liga or Seria A players for 10 or 15m a pop. If you’re just looking to stay in the Pl then you can do better. Surely only a club who are looking to fill the gaps should be spending that amount on individuals, unless they are high quality attackers etc.

15th September 2020 at 8:58 am #166190Sean, the fact that Sullivan and Gold reappointed Moyes 7 months after sacking him beggars belief.

16th September 2020 at 8:07 am #166207Worryingly the Mendy transfer appears to be stuck witn Rennes allegedly wanting Tomori on loan for a season included in the deal?

16th September 2020 at 10:54 am #166209Anonymousi think including tomori in the deal would be sensible. chelsea need to replace kepa urgently. tomori is at best 4th choice now and whilst he would learn a lot with silva there as a mentor, he needs game time. chelsea never really had an issue sending players out on loan before.

16th September 2020 at 2:09 pm #166210Totally agree Paxton on all points. I can only think that either Tomori wants a loan move to another PL Club rather than a French one or Chelsea think his further development will be better served at another PL Club. There is an urgency though in getting Mendy in asap imo.

16th September 2020 at 10:42 pm #166241AnonymousI’m absolutely living on the edge now that Mendy’s transfer hasn’t been completed yet. we are facing the best team in the league with arguably the deadliest attack also. and we know our defence has been suspect for while now. even before the arrival of Frank, there were signs that our defence could struggle against tough opponents. in 2018/19 before the arrival of Frank, we faced Liverpool, had a 1-1 draw, then away lost 2-0. then faced Spurs lost 3-1 to the first game, before we beat them, 2-0. faced Arsenal beat them 3-2, then we lost 2-0, faced United drew with them on both matches 2-2, 1-1 and we lost them 2-0 in the FA cup. faced City and beat them 2-0, before we lost them 6-0. on top of that, we lost Everton 2-0, Bournemouth 4-0.
Now, Frank has a job in his hands to counter Liverpool. will he go toe to toe with Liverpool? I think that is not a good idea! he would rather play tight and look to hit them on the break. we now have speed in our attack. I would bench Loftus Cheek and play Hodson Odoi on the left-wing, then move Havertz in the no 10 or the farthest forward of our midfield trio. I feel that is where he can do the damage more than the wing. with the pace of Hodson Odoi and Werner, plus the threat of Havertz, we can at least have a chance.
So here is the team i would select if fit. 4-3-3, Kepa, Reece James, Silva, Zouma, Chilwell/Azpi, Kovacic, Kante, Havertz, Hodson Odoi, Werner, Pulisic._____________________________

17th September 2020 at 10:07 am #166259Be suprised if Pulasic is fit to start best we can hope for imo is he’s on the bench.
Wouldn’t be suprised to see Giroud start with Werner moving to the left Harvertz ideally in the No 10 role behind Giroud with Mont of CHO on the right.
Can see Silva maybe starting but maybe not Chilwell and Kovacic coming in for Jorginho.
Some big decisions for Frank to make for Sunday.

17th September 2020 at 3:38 pm #166274AnonymousRe Kepa, hope frank plays the same back four against Liverpool… the chopping and changing in front of him isnt ideal… currently he’s inna vicious circle. no confidence from those in front of him, they have no confidence in him. (there’s no leader between him and any of our defenders possibly except Dave… who is too short to play in the middle to organise. I hope we see silva. Kepa is a decent keeper lacking in confidence. First season to last season… the difference was a stable defence in front of him.

17th September 2020 at 6:05 pm #166283“The two parties have come to an agreement. All that’s left is the formalisation. It could even be done tomorrow, if all goes well.
“Afterwards, the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination.”
-Djily Dieng; ( Mendy’s Agent) source: Stade via Metro
Looks like it’s getting done at last!

19th September 2020 at 3:12 pm #166382AnonymousI don’t think it’s a good idea to play Giroud against Van Dijk. because Van Dijk can handle the physical strikers. but what he struggles is the quick strikers. that is why I would like to see Werner play upfront. and Hodson Odoi replaces Loftus Cheek in the team that started on Monday. move Havertz to central and bring Hodson Odoi on the right flank. with Mount playing on the opposite flank. we need to have as much pace up front as we can. also bench Jorginho in this game and move Kante and Kovacic at the base of our midfield. bench Alonso for Azpi. the rest of the team picks itself.
