13th November 2019 at 11:30 am #52758Going to a very interesting game. I think city will be really hurting after Sunday and I can see them beating Chelsea
Chelsea are in a great run but thereโs been no top 6 team in there in that run of games but there have been some tricky games and they have won them all
Now is the real test. Utd beat them but Chelsea actually played well in the game at old tarford. They drew with Leicester and really shouldnโt have lost to Liverpool
Thereโs a huge team spirit there. The players would run through a brick wall for Lampard.
Now is the real test for Chelsea. Some big games coming up. They are keeping clean sheets aswell. Iโve been very impressed by them and the city game be really interesting

13th November 2019 at 2:37 pm #52771Sean, hear what you say mate and I think a tough game for Chelsea has got a lot tougher following the events at Anfield which will have just added to City’s motivation for this game and I expect Ederson to be back too. Hopefully we can do a bit better than last time though!?

13th November 2019 at 2:41 pm #52772Whether the transfer ban is lifted in January or not it’s time for Chelsea fans to think about transfers both in and out
Obviously the Winter window still remains a question mark and dependent on a successful appeal to CAS and even if successful itโs a tough window to trade in and get the players you really want.
Immaterial as to whether we do or donโt get the ban lifted in January we could still do a Pulisic and set up deals for completion in the Summer.
I know thereโs a level of sensitivity about signing players and blocking the path of our young players but firstly Frank seems commited to want to trade in the transfer Market and Fergie was smart enough to add both Keane and Cantona to his Class of 92 and they donโt come much better than that group of youngsters.
Before thinking about where we might need strengthening I think we need to asses where gaps in the squad might exist due to age, lack of opportunity, contracts running and certain players wanting to move on.
The obvious ones that fit the above categories are Giroud, possibly Michy, Pedro and possibly Willian as well as maybe Alonso?
Which suggests although not necessarily in January that we may well need to sign a striker or two a wide player or two and possibly a left back. I would also add to those a personal view that a creative midfield player to unpick stubborn defences might add to our weaponry.
Obviously everyone will have different opinions and I agree signings need to be carefully considered in order not to undo what weโve already got going for us with the young players we have in the squad already out on loan and coming through too.
Lots to consider and I’m sure that’s what Frank and the Club are doing.

13th November 2019 at 2:47 pm #52774Whilst youโd expect a strong response from City, at the same time you can see their vulnerablties. Iโd expect a high scoring game.

13th November 2019 at 4:53 pm #52782I’m looking forward to the game. Our players go in with no fear and rightly so. This City defence is there for the taking, especially if Bravo is in goal. That said, City will know that our back 4 is shaky. Zouma and Tomori need to concentrate for 95 mins as City like to play through the middle. Norwich did a good job of forcing City out wide and packing the central areas of the pitch, something we need to do.

13th November 2019 at 5:03 pm #52791Chelsea are doing something that I thought was impossible, they are starting to become likable! ๐ Frank is doing a great job and the youngsters are a breath of fresh air to the league. Whilst going to City is never easy, as Mikus said they have vulnerabilities and something doesn’t look quite right at the moment. I think Chelsea are going there at just the right moment.
2-2, with Abraham and Mount scoring to aid my Fantasy Football team.

13th November 2019 at 8:46 pm #52815Nine…I think you are right, I think your youngsters will be serious challenger in two years, maybe even next year. City do not have a defence, lets make that clear, we play a fluid game that unless everyone is tuned in they will get beat. Interesting Kompany stated at week end City do not need a CB, well I think we need two but only if they play the system, which we do not have at the moment. We will go through a transition stage now, after this season , Liverpool will also. Next season I expect Utd to be stronger but it depends who is managing them and which 4/5 players they bring in. They have some useful youngsters like Chelsea but not as good imo. We will loose at least 5/6 players at the end of the season,2 possibly 3 will be replaced by youngsters and a couple of marque players. I am very confident about City management to get us through next phase City should be fired up but unless they start re producing there best game again it will be hard going.

13th November 2019 at 9:40 pm #52818Brian, I think things are looking very promising going forwards for Chelsea and that Chelsea have a significant group of very promising young players, a clutch of exciting youngsters currently out on loan and coming through as well as that Frank has a significant war chest for transfers.
But I’m smart enough to realise that both City and Liverpool are currently a long way ahead of Chelsea and it’s going to take some time, some smart transfer business and a fair bit of good fortune to catch both City and Liverpool up but of course that has to be the objective.
Whatever happens against City in the next game things have probably gone better than any Chelsea fan dared hope for so far this season given all of the circumstances Frank inherited but realistically we’re still at Base Camp and there’s still a very big mountain to climb.
By the way the predictions of Chelsea being title challengers within a season or two came from Glen Hoddle not me I’m just hoping he’s right.?

14th November 2019 at 3:27 am #52823AnonymousTypical that the post that seems to have failed, I was right in. I said Chelsea might be ahead of City and here we are. There is something very special going on at Chelsea now. It might not all be right and set but the quality of football that they can play is above the standard that City can. I was genuinely shocked at how good Chelsea were in both games so far this season. There are weaknesses and maybe Pep will exploit them masterfully, making me look foolish but I just don’t think so.
Football fans these days love to play it safe and say “oh we’re not quite as good as our position suggests”. I know, we’re the kings of it. This is definitely the case with Chelsea and I would also add Leicester to that, only I don;t have confirmation from any of their fans.
Both teams are in the title race and of course so are City.
Chelsea will beat City though. This post will go through and you will remember I said it first.

14th November 2019 at 7:58 am #52824“Chelsea will beat City though. This post will go through and you will remember I said it first.” Hope you’re right Mak.?
I’m not sure whether you’re being too kind to Chelsea or a tad unkind to City in your assesment of how good they both are.
City’s problems currently are they are not good enough defensively partly due to Pep not strengthening when he should have strengthened and partly due to injuries.
Garry Neville summed it up perfectly imo with his City have a top of the table attack and midfield and a middle of the table defence.
I suspect Ederson will return next week which will help and Laporte will return after Christmas as will one or two others and I expect City to have a strong second half to the season whether that will be enough to catch Liverpool I think is unlikely.
I also suspect Pep will look to right his defensive vulnerabilities in the Summer too which will make City a much tougher proposition.
You’re right though Leicester who like you I’m very impressed with and Chelsea are points wise in the title race as still are City especially with so many games to go but realistically Liverpool have lost one game out of the last 50 and that’s the form of Champions and they hurt from going so close last season and not winning it which is why given their 8/9 point lead on their rivals imo it’s very hard to look past Liverpool for the title now.
The only place I can see Liverpool potentially slipping up is in December and early January because of the harshness of their fixture list, if thry get through that without surrendering too many points and I think Liverpool are in the home straight then and that they will probably win the title comfortably.
But next Season and or the season after you just never know.?

14th November 2019 at 8:02 am #52825Mak, Iโll bet you a cyber pint that Chelsea wonโt beat city mate.
City are vulnerable at the back mate but look how good they are going forward. I think they will beat Chelsea as they will be really hurting after Liverpool game. Chelsea havenโt played any top six teams on their great run so itโs going to be very interesting to see how they get on
I wouldnโt write city off so quick. I tvibk they will beat Chelsea, utd, arsenal and Leicester. People think these are the games city will slip up in but I fancy then to win them all.
Threeps, lol thatโs it mate and I think Chelsea are now likeable because of Frank Lampard. As a player, my respect grew from year after year because heโs a player who had to work really hard at his game to become world class. He wasnโt like Rooney who was naturally gifted. Lampard worked his balls off and kept improving.
His stats are unreal. Anyone see the video of Harry redknapp defending Lampard at a West Ham meeting when one particular supporter was saying Lampard who never make it? Good watch and Frank was only 17.
I like listening to him. No bullshit. Top man is frank
