Did I make a comment before the games today saying how I think Chelsea are in the title, how ye might actually be ahead of City in just over a weeks time etc etc? I types it out but cant see it for whatever blind reason.

10th November 2019 at 12:02 pm #52250Mak, ” I types it out but cant see it for whatever blind reason.” Me neither mate not this season but as Glen Hoddle says in a season or two Chelsea will be a great team and back chasing the biggest trophies again.
Realistically achieving top 4 this season given all the circumstances will be a great achievement but like the majority of Chelsea fans I’m not counting my Cockerels yet!?

10th November 2019 at 2:46 pm #52257Some players are on a good form. Zouma and Tomori are example. the return of Kante tightened the defence also. we had been attacking with 5 players and defending with 5 players. but Reece James was excelllent, i don’t think he will start againt City as we may need Azpilicueta’s experience in that game. i won’t be surprised if Frank switches to 3-4-3 with both Reece James and Azpi featuring Reece at RWB and Azpi at RCB.

10th November 2019 at 3:38 pm #52259AnonymousGoing so well forward, cant remember the last player to look so impressive in a blue shirt, he was small, quick, change of feet… what was his name, Arjen Robben or something… perhaps im missing someone. Either way, im sure Real and Barca will come sniffing around for Hazards replacement fairly soon. but https://www.givemesport.com/1520279-chelseas-christian-pulisic-is-seriously-outperforming-eden-hazard-in-201920
Chelseaman? Long gone are the days Dave is a centre back. Wishful thinking… Palace didnt have a sniff because Zaha was put into James back pocket and bullied off the park. I actually thought at points zaha was about to burst into tears he was so comprehensively executed every time he touched the ball. Limbs flying everywhere. Thought Wan Bissaka was made of bricks in the challenge, Recce James looks like a terminator with a golden gun playing rugby.

It’s too early to write off Azpi at Chelsea. and his experience will be vital to us against a free flowing City._____________________________

10th November 2019 at 5:13 pm #52307Reece James is going to be a massive player for Chelsea.
It’s tough on Azpi but bar injury I wouldn’t change the back 4 v City. Frank’s difficulty will be in midfield now Kante is fit as tough that it would be on Kovacic Jorginho has to come back into the team alongside Kante imo.

10th November 2019 at 5:19 pm #52313AnonymousChelseaman, Dave is phenomenal. But I simply wouldn’t play him centre back when we have options. I suspect his experience will see him in against city… has a massive role to play this season and next if he stays in guiding the young team. his character and ability are essential.

11th November 2019 at 7:45 am #52484CM, that’s true but we also have to add in who we have played in Palace,Newcastle and Brighton.
City away will be even tougher now as they will still be smarting from that Liverpool defeat.

11th November 2019 at 12:23 pm #52535“In the first week i was worried about them. and now i’m still worried about their capabilities of playing against top teams. Frank has done fantastic job, but they were beaten twice by United, they lost at home to Liverpool, and they conceded 4 at home against Ajax. i would be interested to so how they approach. because they have some great players like Willian, Kante,Azpi and Kovacic. and the Young players are slotting very well. if they can get a balance between the good football they are playing and the pragmatism needed to play against top teams, they will have a great team. they cannot finish in top 2, because that is a step too far, but they can seriously finish in top 4.
Jose Mourinho about Chelsea.

11th November 2019 at 1:38 pm #52553CM, fair enough from Jose imo and I would happily take the 4th place that Jose says we’ll achieve.
I do think a very tough game away to City has got a lot tougher for us on the back of yesterday’s result and City’s frustrations with it all.
Hopefully Frank will study the tapes of City v Chelsea at the Etihad from last season and City v Chelsea in the League Cup Final.
Sarri got the away game v City all wrong by going into the game too open and he learnt from that and went into the Cup Final in a much more considered way. Hopefully that’s the way we go and I wouldn’t be surprised barring injuries to see a midfield three of Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante v City.

11th November 2019 at 2:30 pm #52567Tammy Abraham has had an impressive start to the Premier League season and his goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday put him level with Marcus Rashford’s best ever goal scoring season.
The Chelsea striker was picked by Frank Lampard from the start of the season and he’s proved his manager was right to put faith in him by scoring 10 league goals so far this season.
His opener against Palace, as the Blues won 2-0, took him to double digits and also put him level with Rashford’s best season so far for Manchester United, with the United man scoring 10 in 33 appearances last season.

11th November 2019 at 6:43 pm #52602That Morris jab at Mourinho was an ill advised one. Mourinho was genuine with his opinions when he made those comments and he was right. i wholeheartedly agreed with on there. sometimes we need to be pragmatic about our tactics when facing quality opposition like City. and Mourinho is one of the best coaches in the world. and was a former Chelsea coach, may he was giving Lampard a coded message about where he needs to improve who knows? Morris shouldn’t have ridiculed him.

12th November 2019 at 8:33 pm #52703I am really looking forward to the Chelsea game. I am really impressed with some of the younger players but the one player I think would give us the most problem is Willian….may surprise you Chelsea guys…..but is the type of player that does trouble City. I think Pep will be working extra hard for this game though

13th November 2019 at 7:55 am #52724Brian, I’m just hoping we can give you a bit of a better game than the last time we visited the Etihad.?
Tbh with you I’m a bit fearful about this game playing City at the Etihad is hard enough playing City at the Etihad after the Liverpool game with City a bit of a wounded Tiger makes it a lot tougher.
Overall though whatever happens I think we are now going in the right direction as per Glen Hoddle’s comment below and I don’t think that was the case the last time we were at the Etihad under Sarri.
“The one key thing is, when you put youngsters in theyβve got to be good enough, and these guys are good enough.
Thereβs five of them there that I think in two years time theyβre going to be ready to win the league.
βI really do feel that thereβs a foundation, building blocks there to really go on and become something special.β Glen Hoddle.
Cheers 9’s

13th November 2019 at 8:20 am #52727AnonymousIf there is one thing about this game in favour of both teams, its time to prepare the players. Some might come back from niggling injuries but there is a week to get the sides drilled… And I can imagine this being an all out attack game. City’s defence is wobbly as is Chelsea’s. 4-4 draw anyone? That would be a cracker wouldnt it… lots leaving the ground with less hair, nails and more grey patches. Shame its two England games in between.
