“Jorginho has to do nothing different [to earn selection],” Lampard added. “He trains well, he is good for the group on and off the pitch, he is vice-captain of the club.
“It is purely my choice at the moment with what I see and the games in front of me and how I like the make-up of the midfield to be.
“Sometimes it can be affected by the other players that are in that midfield where I think we need more defensive attributes in the game. He doesn’t need to do anything, it is purely my choice.” Frank Lampard.

7th July 2020 at 8:50 pm #126368Good win for us and a much-needed one after our last away game. Pulisic is turning out to be some player this season. I think Frank is thinking of selling his entire back four and keeper. you have to feel nervy every time a team attacks Chelsea. I’m not comfortable with Christensen there. he is prone to moments of a lapse in concentration.

7th July 2020 at 9:01 pm #126369Good to hear from you CMan.
You’re right we have to spend some money on the defence just like Liverpool did which was a game changer. Cheers 9’s

At this minute Frank should restore Rudiger and bench Christensen. I think Rudiger has a good understanding with Zouma. with Kante to return, we will have some security. Reece James was also caught off guard at a times, but he is still young and learning so I have no complains there. pleased for Abraham, the lad has been out of form, and all of those injuries, I hope that goal inspires him to regain his scoring touch. I’m also pleased for Loftus-Cheek. but Pulisic is begging to remind me Hazard. although he is not there yet. but there are some promising signs he is on the right track.Giroud is very important for our attacking right now. and I don’t think Frank would bench him. also, a big shout goes to Willian, I have always defended him and he has been my favourite player. but he is justifying the faith that Frank has on him now.

8th July 2020 at 11:06 am #126377And Kepa’s save 67 right at the end but I thought he should have done better with the Zaha goal. I think he’s a bit too short and lacks the physicality for the PL. Be suprised if we don’t buy a Keeper in the Summer.

8th July 2020 at 12:54 pm #126384What about Pulisic Chelsea lads? Seems the leagues form player since the restart. A lot quicker than I think many realise and with an end product.

8th July 2020 at 1:02 pm #126386He’s only 21 threeps and I think he will get better and better as he becomes more experienced and develops further especially with the introduction into the team/squad of the likes of Ziyech and Werner etc.
Exciting times at Chelsea as Frank continues to build a new and exciting Chelsea team for the future.

8th July 2020 at 8:31 pm #126407I’m a huge fan of him, this guy is the dream of a coach. people make comparison with our best player of all time Eden Hazard, and I feel it’s a bit premature given that Pulisic is in his first season and Hazard has come and conquered the league in his own. but Frank has highlighted where Pulisic beats Hazard,
“I think with Christian he is possibly more direct in his style in terms of how he goes past players and runs off the ball, which I like”“Eden would come and get the ball and take it past players a lot. I think with Christian he has the real ability to break a line and run forward which is a really great trait in the modern game”
The only concern I have from now and then is the rough treatment he will receive, and his injury record has been bad. if he stays fit, with Wener and Ziyech coming in, he will have help, and can even develop better.

11th July 2020 at 8:28 pm #127434Congrats to Sheffield United I was out and I haven’t watched the game and I won’t now but seemingly we got what we deserved.
Top 4 is really touch and go now even 5th place is if it does become a CL place is in the melting pot.
As Frank said “I’m not one to cry our eyes out over it for days. We know where we’re at – we have the opportunity to fight for the top four, which not many expected us to do at the start of the season. We’re nowhere near a finished article, I know that and we have to improve.”
Telling quote from Frank? “You analyse all season and review and move forward. We need to put that to bed quickly and fight for the top four. I learned a lot and I won’t forget that.”
We need to get back on the bike and do a lot better v Norwich on Tuesday night or we can kiss a CL place goodbye!

12th July 2020 at 10:14 am #127771That sucked and on the back of the West Ham loss, we are not in a good place. How did we beat Manchester City? Strange old game football.

12th July 2020 at 2:35 pm #127847Problem is Frank can only play the hand he’s been dealt with.
What Frank inherited defensively just wasn’t and isn’t good enough and there needs to be a major focus on putting that right this Summer in the transfer market if Chelsea are going to move forward.
No point in just solving the offensive problems if you have to score 3 goals to take a point at places like West Ham and Sheff Utd and 3 points at Palace.
There needs to be a serious sort out in the Summer to help make the above happen right now I think Chelsea should be prioritising a Keeper, a Centre Back or two and a left back over any other positions to be strengthened that will undoubtedly mean moving players on to raise transfer funds and probably more than just the players that need moving on and fringe players.
“I learned a lot. You tend to learn more in tough moments and tough games – and that’s for me to work with and deal with as we go forward.”
The quote above suggests Frank might be looking to make some serious changes this Summer but we’ll see.

12th July 2020 at 11:27 pm #127982Bournemouth might just have opened the door for us again.?
One game at a time though and we have to beat Norwich on Tuesday night.
Liverpool away and Wolves at home are two tough games but Leicester’s fixtures aren’t easy Sheffield United at home, Spurs away and United at home.
I feel much better tonight than I did last night anyway.?

13th July 2020 at 11:00 pm #128275Well, I’m not one to give their reaction in the heat of the moment. but that performance was the worst I have seen since Frank has taken over Chelsea. but the goodness is that we are very lucky that the North London teams are having their worst season for while, Leicester is crumbling at the perfect time, although we have. However, we have a resurgent United, we still have it in our hands. but I’m not still comfortable.
I would say Frank should revert to 3-4-3 in these 3 matches, and in the summer strengthen our defence. there is no reason in slating players here and there. our goal is to finish in the top 4 which we still have in our hands whilst we are having some slump, but thankfully our opponents are giving us a free ride.

13th July 2020 at 11:07 pm #128276United dropping two points in the 96th minute v Southampton. Is this a replay of last season when every team around us vying for the top four positions crumbled. Appears that way.

14th July 2020 at 11:01 am #128286Let’s hope so 67.?
That’s all part of it and how Clubs react to the pressure of the run in, unfortunately we’ve lost to both West Ham and Sheffield United in the run in too and no one else in the race for the top 4 has surrendered 11 points to West Ham and Bournemouth. So we’ve thrown away plenty of silly points ourselves.
Liverpool at Anfield up next following the Norwich game is a task on the night they present the PL trophy to them too..
Norwich tonight is a must win game.
Not many Chelsea fans had us as 3rd and competing for a top 4 place with 3 games to go at the start of the season given all the circumstsnces.
I certainly didn’t I thought even a EL place would be a challenge. Fingers crossed for the top 4 though buddie.?????

14th July 2020 at 4:06 pm #128303At this point in time our strengths like in utilizing Alonso and Reece James as wing backs. both have very good crossing range, both are attack minded fullbacks, both are not comfortable in defending in a back four system. so why not play to their strengths. Also include Azpi in the back three with Zouma and Rudiger. in Rudiger’s case whilst he is offline, at least he is better suited to standing to the physical challenges of Pukki than the weak Christensen. part of our defeat to the Sheffield team was down to the fact that we lost the midfield as Jorginho isn’t Kante and our players expected too much from him. and I now realized why Frank prefers Gilmour instead of Jorginho.
Keep Willian and Pulisic rested for the weekend Game, both are running on an empty tank. and instead play Loftus-Cheek and Barkley behind Giroud. 3-4-2-1 formation is our strength at this minute. we seriously need to win this game to put pressure on Leicester and United. i still can’t figure out how we are still third despite our problems. I would give Frank A+ in that case by managing to keep that defense in the top 3. our defence is the worst in the top 10.
