Paxton , Abraham has been injured since the 21st January v Arsenal.
It’s his first season in the PL and he’s scored 13 goals in 25 games v Harry Kane’s 11 goals in 20 games 2 of which were penalties and Kane is England’s number one striker and not in his first PL season.
You’re entitled to your opinion of course personally I think it’s far too early to rush to judgement on Abraham who imo taking everything into account has had a decent first season in the PL.
I would rather wait and see how he goes going forwards and the signings of Zilyich and potentially Werner could be very beneficial to him. Time will tell.

5th June 2020 at 1:36 pm #113696Ed “Don’t get me wrong Sean. I think he’s a decent player. Just don’t feel he’s good enough for Chelsea as the main man.”
I guess that’s how Frank saw it and why he’s been trying so hard to add further goals to the team/squad.

5th June 2020 at 1:54 pm #113700999 – Interestingly Werner is at his best wide left and coming inside so there’s room for both Tammy and Werner in the team ” Timo and Tammy” has a nice ring to it. ?
Yes also an interesting signing with CHO in a touch of strife. Could tell us something about his future at the club. Is there any up to date news there?

5th June 2020 at 1:57 pm #113701Thing is Puppy, you mention Sir Harry’s stats when compared to Tammy, yet I think you’ll find most of us Spuds think Sir Harry is having a dogshit season this season, and hasn’t looked anywhere near his best when compared to previous seasons.
To early to tell how great Tammy’s career is going to be, but I think mid-table at best, and I going to suggest he wouldn’t even be at the club now if it wasn’t for the transfer ban. As Paxo mentioned, look at the teams Tammy scored his 13 against (and have of them were in the frist 3 games of the season… if that’s not a difinition of a “Purple Patch”, I don’t know what is!).

5th June 2020 at 2:08 pm #113702Chucky, fair enough but in Kane’s first season in the PL at Spurs he played 10 games and scored 2 goals. Writing players off in their first PL season in the PL is both unfair and foolish imo as Harry Kane has gone on to confirm.
As I said in respect of Abraham “I would rather wait and see how he goes going forwards and the signings of Ziyech and potentially Werner could be very beneficial to him. Time will tell.” Cheers 9’s

5th June 2020 at 2:09 pm #113703You can’t just pull out the goals scored stat to determine who is a good striker or not. If we do then Chris Wood, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Teemu Pukki and of course the man Tammy himself are all better strikers than Firmino.
I don’t think anyone is saying Abraham is rubbish just that he isn’t good enough (yet at least) to be the main striker of a top team. Hence why Chelsea have almost signed Werner, but that doesn’t mean Abraham’s Chelsea career is over.

5th June 2020 at 7:20 pm #113711Nine, sorry mate, I just saw your response on chilwell.
I think Leicester will look for silly money but he’s a fine left back mate.
Akways liked him. He be a very good addition.
I like Alonso but only as a wing back. He’s fine when he has people covering for him but gets exposed in a back 4.

5th June 2020 at 8:02 pm #113717Sean, couldn’t agree with you more on all points Sean. It seems Frank is very keen on Chilwell I just hope we don’t pay the silly fee that Leicester might demand for him based on previous history.

6th June 2020 at 11:41 am #113736he probably is mak mate.
He’s English and you always pay a higher premium for English players. Walker was 50 m 3 years ago???
Be interesting to see if transfer fees come down because of how clubs have been affected by C19 or will we still ridiculous fees been thrown around ???
I think it be still stupid money being thrown about

6th June 2020 at 12:17 pm #1137433p’s… good point, but even worse for Tammy, as I’d rate his all-round game even lower than just his finishing skills… just doesn’t do anything for me. Bet a Mars Bar or three he’ll end up at West Ham.
Waspy… I don’t, I’d be surprised to see anything close to last summer or the summer before’s total expenditure. Clubs just can’t be seen to be spunking cash after they’ve been pleading poverty and asking players to take pay cuts etc…
Bet anything you like Chilwell won’t be moving for 80!!

6th June 2020 at 1:39 pm #113753I think with the shortfall in income, we will see the “game 39” touted even more now (where league games would be played abroad), as clubs look to find ways to make up the lost income, as soon as things get back to normal in most places. And if the clubs see that fans can stomach watching games on TV but in empty stadia, they’ll deem that they’ll be able to stomach league games being played abroad.

6th June 2020 at 1:41 pm #113755AnonymousHmmm, I mean, if Tammy can improve in his 2nd season, Werner in off the left and the other new lad from Ajax in on the right… That will be absolutely deadly if it works out. It might take time.
To then improve the defence, I have to say that I found Chelsea to be maybe the most challenging side we played against (excluding the disaster V Watford). I really liked how they played with purpose and guile. Yep, they needed a bit more firepower and well, they will have it if Werner signs. That new winger also has a few goals in him too.
Who knows, maybe Chelsea will challenge.

6th June 2020 at 1:59 pm #113758Chelsea won’t pay silly money for Chilwell I very much doubt they will go much past £50m and they certainly won’t pay the suggested £85m Leicester reportedly want for him.
Re Tammy, all players will get better surrounded by better players with Ziyech already signed and potentially Werner too and perhaps one of two other to come there’s every chance Tammy will benefit from their arrivals as PL defenders will have more to worry about.
Tammy gets 55% of his shots on target and has 3 PL assists to go with his 13 PL goals which is none to shabby for a young striker in his first season for Chelsea in the PL and compared favourably to the majority of PL strikers.
Rushing to judgement on players that many on here have only fleetingly seen in action is short sighted there would never have been a Harry Kane had Spurs rushed to judgement based on his first PL season at Spurs indeed in Kane’s 56 games on loan prior to his first PL season at Spurs he scored but 12 goals versus Tammy Abraham’s 53 goals from his 109 games on loan.
I’m not saying Tammy will definitely make it at Chelsea and that he won’t eventually end up maybe playing for a PL Club at a slightly lower level I’m just saying he deserves a couple of seasons to prove whether he’s good enough to play at the level Chelsea are looking to play at before being written off.
But you won’t find very many Chelsea fans not prepared to give Tammy a bit more time after a promising first season which has been interrupted by injury and still has 9 games to go and I suspect that applies to Frank Lampard too!

6th June 2020 at 3:03 pm #113765AnonymousChelsea need to offload half a dozen players, squad is far too big and expensive, the older out of contract players need to go, Pulsic and Loftus Cheek will be like 2 top new signings, we don’t need any more players maybe a decent centre half that’s all.

9th June 2020 at 12:57 pm #113849More rumours today about further Chelsea signings which would further indicate a reshaping of the team the way Frank wants it to be.
Realistically there’s probably circa £50m left from the Hazard and Morata sales assuming Werner goes through and the signing of Ziyech, there’s a need to move some fringe players on which will create some monies but to sign some of the players currently bring talked about there will almost certainly need to a biggish sale or two too possibly one at least of Kante or Jorginho.
Personally I would like to see us hang on to Kante and restore him to his previous sitting role in front of the back four I think we have other players in the squad to do the Jorginho role but we’ll see.
