4th June 2020 at 9:56 pm #113670Sean, “if” Werner signs along with Zilyich and what have we should have a good chance of getting into the top 4 next season I think we might slip away this season when it restarts.

4th June 2020 at 9:58 pm #113671AnonymousI wanna hear from the Chelsea lads on here about this. OK, it’s a deal in principle, so you never know but… assuming it goes through (95% it will by my guess work), how would you lads feel about this signing. Also, I have no idea who that winger that ye signed is but the ambition shown by Chelsea here could really pay off and honestly, I hope it does cause I liked what I saw from Chelsea last season. I also have a lot of respect for Lampard. He’s a gentleman and a scholar.

4th June 2020 at 10:21 pm #113672Mak, it still has to happen but Werner was always my prefered signing. Didn’t think we would get him though and we still haven’t so I’m not getting too excited yet.

4th June 2020 at 11:47 pm #113673AnonymousTotally understand Nine, you don’t want top believe, in case it doesn’t come about but… I think he looks like an absolutely fantastic player. I think if ye can finish the deal, he’ll be a part of a big step forward for Chelsea.
It’s not that I’d have said this was a weakness for Chelsea, although Abraham misses a lot of chances and the lack of experience definitely showed as things went on… this guy will back in goals for Chelsea and the way that they play now. TBH, I’ve always maintained that Torres failed at Chelsea, largely due to how they played. Those days are gone and now chelsea play a more attractive style of football.

5th June 2020 at 12:54 am #113674AnonymousIm sooooo envious of Chelsea right now.
TBH though, I remember Utd were after him.. I’d be sick if he went to Utd. I can still appreciate a player for the likes of Chelsea. I mean as long as we’re not 1 and 2 for the league on the last day kinda thing :p
i kinda hope you guys get the deal over the line. I mean, unless we snap the F out of it and go for him. I still think we should.

5th June 2020 at 8:26 am #113675Werner is a great age incredibly quick can play through the middle or out wide in fact heβs been even more successful coming in from a wide position which would allow him to play with Tammy and he is a consistent goal scorer 31 goals in 40 games this season and 11 in 29 for Germany and at Β£49m isnβt ridiculous money.
He would be a fabulous signing having watched him in Europe he really excited me but we havenβt signed him yet and until we do unfortunately this just remains speculation.
If Werner were to eventually sign for Chelsea the reasons why might have been unveiled in his quote back in March.
“At this time in professional soccer there are two different variations. The first is to be part of a team like Liverpool or Manchester City.
“They have a good working team. The teams have also great coaches.
“But this is the question: do you want to go to that kind of team, because the situation is already that hard for each member and you want to be a part of it? That’s one point you have to look at.
“The other side are teams which need some big changes, because they just won a few big titles, “but they are not able to compete on the highest level anymore.”
“

5th June 2020 at 9:36 am #113677If he signs for Chelsea, and it looks like he will, it will be a very exciting signing for them. No signing is ever guaranteed to be a success but this lad has everything in his locker to be one in the Premier League. He will probably miss a fair amount of chances but because of his speed and movement he will probably be in positions that others strikers wouldn’t be able to be. He also works very hard off the ball too. He has scored 75 goals in 125 apperances for RBL which shows he is definatly a goal scorer.
Going to Chelsea works well for both parties, he will be the main man there and Chelsea will get a young but experienced (29 caps and 11 goals for Germany) focal point for their attack that they have needed.

5th June 2020 at 12:11 pm #113682Looks like a very good signing. As impressive as the signing itself is the fact Chelsea are, once again, getting their business done early in the window.
I remember being severely underwhelmed by Werner in the World Cup but he seems to have kicked on from there and it will be interesting to see how Abraham fits into the picture with Werner coming in. Abraham seemed to tail off in the latter part of the season. I’ve never been entirely convinced Abraham is top quality, despite a strong debut PL season.

5th June 2020 at 12:13 pm #113683On the point of getting business done early, I can already predict our window. We’ll chase Sancho all summer and end up with someone like Kingsley Coman, Douglas Costa or Ousmane Dembele ?

5th June 2020 at 12:32 pm #113685Never been that impressed with Tammy to be honest. May have had a great first 15/20 games this season, but I think was just a little purple patch. Never a striker for a Top4 team. I’ll be surprised if he finishes his career with anything more than 15 goals a season average.
No idea who us Spuds are going to get. Plenty of gosspip about the Saints Captain (Baconmuncher’s cousin??) but other than that, no idea who else. We’re crying out for some full-backs (maybe that Belguim lad frmo PSG but that’s gone very quiet too!). Just glad we’ll have everybody back for the re-start, missing Harry, Sonny, and Disco really didn’t do us any favours. Just need to hit the grouud running, win that first game against YooUtd and I fancy our chances for Top4!! I think we have a Top4 squad when everybody is fit!

5th June 2020 at 12:37 pm #113686Ed a couple of years ago every top team were chasing those 3 like they are with Sancho now. Think you’re being a tad optimistic to be honest. Isn’t Willian leaving on a free? You’ll end up with him.
Agree regarding Abraham. I actually said something similar when he was actually banging in the goals. He looked good, I just couldn’t see him making the step up to great or World Class. But he has time very much on his side.
Chelsea seem to be putting together a good squad capable of challenging if Werner signs. I think up front was their weak point along with goal keeper.

5th June 2020 at 12:45 pm #113687Threeps, I’d hardly say any of those three were optimistic considering where Utd are at the moment. Dembele is surely up for sale after a dismal start there and Barca needing money for Neymar and other areas. Coman will struggle for game time with Sane and seemingly now Sancho being targeted. Douglas Costa is surplus at Juve, too, surely? Have a very hard time imagining we’d get Willian on a free. Not in any way a Utd or Solskjaer type of signing. Sure, you could point to the Ighalo signing but that was very much a case of convenience and to help with injury problems (albeit it was extended on merit)
Yeah I said much the same about Tammy when he first started getting decent game time. I’m sure he would have struggled for game time had the transfer ban not been in place.

5th June 2020 at 1:16 pm #113690Ed, to be fair to Tammy this is his first season in the PL and he’s been badly hampered by injuries too.
I’ve very much enjoyed watching Werner in the CL he’s got excellent pace and positional sense but most importantly he knows where the goal is a regular goalscorer this season Chelsea have dominated games that they’ve drawn or lost because they needed a bit more fire power Werner providing the deal goes through can provide that.
He looks a perfect foil for Zilyich and both have pace.
Interestingly Werner is at his best wide left and coming inside so there’s room for both Tammy and Werner in the team ” Timo and Tammy” has a nice ring to it. ?
I wouldn’t rush to write Tammy off yet 13 PL goals from 22 PL starts in your first season in the PL is none too shabby more than Harry Kane from 20 games and Kane takes the penalties too.
Next season Tammy will have Zilyich feeding him too and could have Werner taking some of the scoring load off his shoulders as well. Cheers 9’s

5th June 2020 at 1:17 pm #113691AnonymousI don’t rate Abraham highly either. I wrote the following on 21st January and his goal return didn’t improve in the 5 games following.
Abraham is a strange one. he has so far scored 13 goals which is a great return but I still donβt think heβs much more than a good championship striker. that might seem like a very harsh statement based on his goal return but I will explain. 7 of his 13 goals came in the first 5 games. they were Norwich (2) Sheffield United (2) and Wolves (3). he has since scored 6 goals in 17 games and they were against Norwich (17th) Sheffield United (10th) Wolves (19th) Southampton (17th) Watford (20th) Palace (12th) Villa (16th) Arsenal (12th) and Burnley (15th). those are the league positions of each team the week he scored against them. I do think it is really important to have a player that can score against the lower teams as they can often be difficult to break down but he is not the striker to lead a team forward.

5th June 2020 at 1:19 pm #113692Anonymous999 – abraham missed 4 games and played 60+ minutes in 23 of the 25 games he played. wouldnt class that as badly hampered by injury.
