Transfer strategy – go with what weโve got, if todayโs TV showing is the barometer then the magic money pot has lost its magic, save the money as it may be worth more in a couple of seasons, then again we may need it to survive…..Pagan

16th May 2020 at 5:59 pm #113306Pagan, I think you make a very valid point but I suspect this Summer Chelsea will still be active albeit more prudent.Time will tell.
We are still awaiting the dates for the beginning and end of the transfer window.

18th May 2020 at 1:47 pm #113335Whether Hudson Odoi is guilty or not and everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but whatever the outcome this is another example of too much too soon.
A 19 year old shouldnโt be living in a luxury apartment on his own and thatโs something the Club should be thinking about.
If Hudson Odoi is proven guilty he has thrown away a potentially great career and even if he finds a way out of this he has put his career in great jeopardy.

18th May 2020 at 4:23 pm #113342AnonymousI really hate the phrase innocent until proven guilty. An innocent verdict doesnโt mean they didnโt do it. Just like a guilty verdict doesnโt mean they did do it.
I really hope he didnโt do it but Unfortunately he will be branded a criminal by anyone on social media and probably some of the written media because there was an accusation and thatโs all they need.

18th May 2020 at 5:30 pm #113345I wouldn’t speculate as to whether Hudson Odoi is innocent or guilty but if he’s charged he should be allowed his day in Court to try and prove his innocence and the British justice system presumes him innocent until then.
If the reports are true the girl and he exchanged flirtatious texts and she was asked to bring sexy lingerie and she turned up with a Luis Vuitton bag I suspect she wasnโt expecting to play Monopoly. Obviously though that still wouldnโt excuse rape if that is what actually took place.
At the minimum he’s certainly guilty of gross stupidity and I suspect it will be difficult to prove guilt or innocence either way and history proves football fans particularly opposition football fans won’t let him forget it.
But plenty of water to flow under this particular bridge yet and no one should jump to conclusions either way.

18th May 2020 at 7:57 pm #113351It’s all going to come down to “he said, she said”… but he’ll be tarnished either way.
If he’s guilty, then I think we can all agree he deserves everything and then some, and if he’s innocent, the oppo’s fans are going to have him for breakfast.

18th May 2020 at 8:33 pm #113357Don’t be daft threeps!
Why would anyone want to try and justify rape? What you suggested was highly insulting however to avoid any further misunderstandings I’ve added to my post although it shouldn’t have been necessary because it should have been be taken as a given that nobody on here would try and justify rape least of all me.

18th May 2020 at 9:11 pm #113359Nine you wrote that paragraph which sounded very much like you’re saying she was asking for it, so frankly I couldn’t care less if you are insulted. If I am somehow reading it wrong then I will wholeheartedly apologise but it sounds like the sort of thing an ignorant old chauvinist would say.
With your power of editing I would suggest you go back and do more work on it as it still reads pretty bad.

18th May 2020 at 9:31 pm #113360threeps, I’m certainly not an ignorant old chauvinist but I am a practicing Roman Catholic and given that there’s absolutely no way I would try and justify rape!
I was just highlighting the reports and picking up on what I suspect the Police would pick up on as well as Hudson Odoi’s lawyers based on those reports.

21st May 2020 at 11:29 am #113381Bring lingerie and she still turns up threeps. What do you think was crossing her mind? I, like 999 do not condone rape but, well, why did she go in the first place? A chance to frame a wealthy person is a possibility. That has happened before. The mind boggles. I think an apology to a well respected and honourable person should be forthcoming. I certainly did not read his post as you did, even removing the additional sentence.

21st May 2020 at 12:49 pm #113382AnonymousNever start a sentence with ‘i don’t condone rape, but’. Immediately it looks like you are going to try and justify it and that’s exactly how it looks.

21st May 2020 at 7:51 pm #113386It makes you wonder though, this is not an isolated case and young footballers do not learn from events in recent history. It is probably down to, too much money too soon, unfortunately that is what the game has developed to there liking and to hell with the consequences of the downside.
Football was simple once upon a time, not for a long time now though. Sometimes I wonder, did I like standing in the rain, crushed up against a barrier, the thing is though, as best i can remember you enjoyed a match more and talked with visiting fans. To day it is a sanitised version and we watch part theatrical and athletic performances but the feel of a real football game diminished. I know some will say Liverpool, City Chelsea ec offer good football but they are a minority, think football as a whole. I am sad about the women’s game, more support and encouragement should be given, apart from games on the local park they are the nearest to a proper game, No arguing with Refs, rolling over as if shot and 100% effort for 90 minutes. Quality..well it will improve given the chance and Chelsea have a good footballing team I suppose the money people will get to them eventually as well_____________________________

21st May 2020 at 8:11 pm #113387Brian, on the 15/4/2018 Chelsea Ladies played Man City Ladies in the FA Cup semi final, the game itself and the result is immaterial, what stood out for me from the match was the actual match ball, if you looked carefully at it the ball had CLFC written on it in felt tip marker, thatโs how close the womenโs game at the highest level is to grass roots footy…..Pagan

21st May 2020 at 9:35 pm #1133891967 it doesn’t matter if she brought lingerie after being asked to. It doesn’t matter if she is a sex worker going there for sex, or just someone who was after sex with a footballer. Maybe she changed her mind because he got violent, or maybe he asked for something she was uncomfortable with. We dont know, but if she said no and he continued then its rape, even if she was naked on his bed.
Of course it could be a set up. Footballers are probably one of the easiest prey for such things, being young, rich and most likely lacking in intelligence. But I’m not arguing if he is guilty or not, I don’t know the details and never will, I am saying there is not a single situation imaginable that can justify a rape. And now I have read two comments on here that to me at least seem to indicate a justification or at least an excuse and that I find pretty disgusting.
