Reaction to RLC ‘s performance for the development squad last night:
“Loftus Cheek was sublime. I know it’s just the developmental squad but boy did he look in fine form. We need him back ASAP.”
Be good to get him back playing maybe v Everton is an opportunity for 60 mins with no Jorginho?

3rd March 2020 at 6:52 pm #80432Kepa; Azpilicueta (c), Rudiger, Zouma, Alonso, Gilmour, Kovacic, Barkley, Willian, Giroud, Pedro.
Interesting team back to 4/3/3 and 18 year old Billy Gilmour starts.

3rd March 2020 at 8:52 pm #80441Billy Gilmour immense, Giroud and Pedro the opposite. Kepa a massive triple save which is good for his and our confidence.
Immediately Liverpool out 2nd half with more purpose. Look out.

4th March 2020 at 7:20 am #80480thought Giroud had a very good game for you, not the star striker type game but his hold up and link up mwas good and he does a lot of dirty stuff up top on his own, pedro wasnt great and seemed to run out of legs for his chance, Giroud did great and should have scored but greaqt save
Kepa was very very good last night, the triple save was immense_____________________________

4th March 2020 at 7:59 am #80482Agree with you on Giroud and Kepa Stevo. Shame about Pedro missing the chance for a third but overall I thought he had a good game and ran himself into the ground for the team both in attack and defending.

4th March 2020 at 1:15 pm #80500I donβt have that much to add with what my fellow blue army have already pointed. it was a performance worth to be proud. and the young Gilmour was the standout player of the night. Giroud has given a tough night to VVD, and that is what you need from your strikers, he was unlucky not to score with his shot that hit the woodwork. even Alonso of all people put a defensive shift last night. pleased for Ross Barkley, the vultures were circling at him, but last night he has shown his class, but the question is can he keep that level of performance game in game out?
I donβt know what to say about Pedro, on one hand, he has been wasteful and could have given the team under pressure, and on the other hand, he worked tremendously for the team. the one worrying factor from that match last night was the injury that Kovacic has sustained, I hope Frank took him off as a precaution rather than a serious one. he was one of the reasons why the young Gilmour has thrived as he has done all the dirty work and drove the team, and this gave Gilmour time and space with the ball.

4th March 2020 at 2:17 pm #80509I think we will probably sell Jorginho in the Summer now and add the money received to the transfer kitty. Gilmour made us look a much better side last night.

4th March 2020 at 3:59 pm #80525Hopefully Billy will get more game time, which shows our youth there is a pathway to the first team if youβre good enough and work hard, they need to be looking through Billy Gilmourβs eyes…..Pagan

4th March 2020 at 4:55 pm #80531Can I just add my congratulations to Chelsea for last night. Thoroughly deserved win. I find it hard to dislike Chelsea now. It was easy in the days of Mourinho, Terry, Cole and Carvalho, but it’s hard to dislike Lampard and his young team now, though I still have an irrational hatred (maybe too strong a word!) of Giroud!!

4th March 2020 at 5:50 pm #80533Chelsea at the moment are producing quality youth players, some of which hopefully will become long term first teasers, others will move on and again hopefully make a career in football. The credit apart from the youngsters themselves has to go to all involved in the youth and academy set ups, these people need to be valued and rewarded appropriately before theyβre be tempted away by other clubs…..Pagan

5th March 2020 at 8:09 am #80556Agree hightown. Really like Lampard
A player who had to work so hard at his game to become one of the best midfielders in the world
Says it straight aswell.

7th March 2020 at 9:01 am #81821We have little margin for error now. we have lost an opportunity to get a day light between us and the chasing pack last week and to close the gap on Leicester. but this game is much tougher that the obe we have dropped points last week. i would have taken a point in tgis game and won the Bournemouth game. but bow we are under presssure to win this game now. especially now that our biggest rivals United are playing against City.
Who will play in midfield now that Jorginho is suspended, Kocacic and Kante are injured, RLC is lacking match fitness? i saw people suggest Reece James as one possible option, and that is not a bad choice to have. i can see Frank sticking Mount to play in the wing and let Barkley carry on in the middle. and if Barkley can produce half of what he has done against Liverpool, i can see us winning that midfield battle.
Giroud is the actual choice here, but the only regret will be, if Reece James plays in the middle, who will put crosses as Azpi is poor in crossing?

7th March 2020 at 9:57 am #81846Chelseaman, I think the starting eleven picks itself based on last man standing. I saw James play in midfield for Wigan v Bristol City at Ashton Gate and he was excellent and scored a great goal.
I think he can still deliver crosses from right midfield but Frank could go 3/4/2/1 again with the same players with James as the right wing back.
