Found this stats page. Some interesting info and that 15 minute period after half time is not our worst either. I guess the Bayern debacle after half time and then this come to mind more so as they are the most recent.

1st March 2020 at 9:13 am #79493AnonymousI’m worried about Lampards puzzling ongoing selections, Christiansen not good enough for quite some time and Tomori has been out plus his too small for a centre half as far as the EPL is concerned, probably drew the game due to that. Opponents score from crosses in nearly every game.

1st March 2020 at 12:51 pm #79509What worries me most is that I expected Rudiger to solve our defensive problems when he came back and it hasn’t happened and we still look vulnerable to every ball hit high into the box.
There are some question marks against Rudiger but even more question against the other three Centre Backs all of whom have their own weaknesses.
I suspect Frank rested both Rudiger and Willian with the Liverpool game in mind and both will be back on Tuesday look further ahead I will be suprised if Frank doesn’t try and sign another Centre Back in the Summer.

1st March 2020 at 1:01 pm #79510If we really are looking to sign a Keeper we could do a lot worse than Ramsdale who has impressed me every time I’ve seen him play.

1st March 2020 at 1:47 pm #79511Looking forward to the Liverpool game.
First decision for Frank is what system to deploy. I expect Kepa, Rudiger and Willian to return but will Frank plump for 3/4/2/1 or will he go for 4/3/3 and match up to Liverpool and what Liverpool side will Klopp select?
4 at the back for Chelsea puts Alonso’s place at risk because Azpi is likely to play there if we go 4 at the back. With Pedro likely to play too if we go 4/3/3.
More questions than answers currently but probably not too many of them given whose realistically available to him ideally Frank would like to give RLC some minutes v Liverpool with no Jorginho for the next three games.

1st March 2020 at 4:26 pm #79532Spurs have lost to Wolves, United have drawn to Everton. it seems the that may have softened the blow in one way and in another way, it woud have given us a nice cushion over both teams and we would have narrowed the gap to Leicester.
Now if our wingers are contributing less goals, and our wing-backs are contributing goals, isn’t it the time that Frank uses 3-5-2 with too strikers Giroud and Abraham preferably and 3 Midfielders that includes Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho. plus our current wing-backs and back three that includes Tomori, Zouma and Rudiger. plus Kepa as the keeper. and then stick to that line up until the end of the

1st March 2020 at 4:42 pm #79533Chelseaman, did you watch the game yesterday? Tomori was really poor and Christensen of the two was the better just.?
Currently our only 2 fit strikers are Michy and Giroud and that doesn’t look a great pairing to me. Currently we are missing wingers with both Pulisic and Hudson Odoi injured.
“First Premier League performance since December and it showed early. Really sloppy and sluggish and got caught out a couple of times to give Bournemouth a chance. However, looked more comfortable when he got into the pace of the match.
Struggled a lot in the second half as well. Went completely walk about for the second goal. Not a great return. 3 out of 10” Football London’s review of Tomori v Bournemouth

I’m not just looking for just one game. if you judge Tomori for his performance throughout the season has been fantastic. amd he is better than Christensen. He has been in between two players who had been weak. on one side was Christensen the lwb was Alonso and the defensive midfielder was Jorginho. no wonder he has had a bad game, he got no help from either. and he has been out for two months.
But despite that, i have full confidence in him than Christensen.

1st March 2020 at 8:32 pm #79548Chelseaman, tbh I think they’ve all got their weaknesses Tomori is too small and weak in the air, Christensen lacks physicality and is also weak in the air , Zouma is half decent in the air but poor on the ground Rudiger is the best we’ve got but he’s been poor at times this season and hasn’t been as dominant as he should be in the air.
I honestly can’t see Frank playing Tomori v Liverpool on the back of his performance on Saturday and I think Frank will go with Rudiger and Christensen if we go with a back 4 and the same two plus Azpi if we go with three at the back but we’ll see.
Signing a dominant centre back is a must for the Summer though imo.

2nd March 2020 at 11:10 am #79577RLC to play for the Under 23’s tonight as he needs game time so at best he would be on the bench tomorrow v Liverpool but even that looks a tad unlikely given his injury.

2nd March 2020 at 2:21 pm #79647In my opinion, we don’t seem to play to the strengths of the current set of strikers we have. for example when we have Giroud on the pitch, we don’t put crosses into the box for him to feed off, and when we have Michy on the pitch we seem to put crosses into the box and that is the weaker side of Michy, his strengths lie running behind the defences, whereas Giroud’s strengths lie in the air in winning headers as well as exploiting and relishing the physical battle with the defenders. with that in mind, we tend to struggle as we don’t seem to play to the strengths of the strikers we have on the pitch. i hope Frank and his coaching team realise this and work out.

2nd March 2020 at 2:27 pm #79651Daniel Sturridge?
Sturridge is now free to join whoever he wants. Chelsea need some firepower up front, and a short-term deal could be the answer to the Blues problems. Despite the nagging injury issues, Sturridge scored seven-goals, in 13-appearances during his brief spell in Turkey.
Although the former England international has a questionable attitude, working with a former team-mate in Frank Lampard, could work for both the player, and the club. It’s a shot in the dark, and suspect he might end up in the MLS, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
With a short term punt? Mourinho might think the same?

2nd March 2020 at 2:35 pm #79662Christansen is injured and will miss Liverpool game.
“Lampard on team news: “Christensen has a small issue. We will give him another 24 hours but he is probably out.”
No Abraham, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi or Kante for Liverpool. No one is back who was injured. Loftus-Cheek is playing with the U23s tonight. #CFC”

2nd March 2020 at 6:59 pm #79832“Daniel Sturridge has been banned from “all football and football-related activity” worldwide until 17 June, fined £150,000 and his three-year contract with Trabzonspor terminated after just six months as the Football Association successfully appealed against the “unduly lenient” length of his ban for a betting offence.”
That’s sorted that one.?

2nd March 2020 at 8:50 pm #79918I don’t think things are as bad as people are making at Chelsea. yes, we are struggling and in a rough patch of form. but what they don’t take into account is the fact that we are missing some crucial players and we have lost Hazard ontop of that. Pulisic, Abraham, Loftus-Cheek, Hodson Odoi, and Kante. and on top of that, we had players who are out of form and with the ones who would have replaced them being those I have mentioned above.
I think things are not as bad as people are making, had we taken our chances full, we would have won that game comfortably. the issue is poor finishing, and it has been the case since 2016, even when we had won we had been wasting chances. i believe we have more than 8/9 win chance had we taken our chances.

2nd March 2020 at 9:48 pm #79963CM, we’ve lacked a consistent 20+ goal a season striker for 20+ years, the last one I think was JFH, and prior to that Kerry Dixon, fortunately our lack of fire power up front was compensated for by Lampard…..Pagan

I would say Deigo Costa was a consistent 20 goal striker as he has scored 20 league goals two of his three seasons at Chelsea. Drogba was the PL top scorer twice, Anelka has won once, there has been an elite number of strikers in the PL who has maintained consistent 20 league goal a season, Henry, Aguero, Shearer and recently Harry Kane who has joined that elite group. others have scored and sometimes missed. i would say our current striker was on target to reach 20 league goal before his recent injuries.

3rd March 2020 at 6:50 am #80352CM, Costa scored 20 goals in 2 of his seasons at Chelsea and 12 the other, Drogba scored 20 goals in 2 seasons and 11 or under in the other 6, he was out scored in those 6 by Lampard. Extrapolating a strikers record doesn’t work as the opposition isn’t constant.
JFH I believe was the last striker to score 20+ goals in consecutive seasons and was consistent. Peaks and troughs is where we are now game to game, Tammy may be the answer, and if he can bang in 20+ a season and with him being home grown would elevate him to legend status, let’s hope so….Pagan
