The problems at the back, are due in my opinion, not to the quality of the players we have, but the lack of leadership. One of the three there has to take command, Kepa seems quite quiet, and both Zouma and Tomori are in effect new this season, hopefully when Rudiger gets back he will show what is required leadership wise and then when he’s not playing those that are will know what is required.
Can’t be arsed to find out but I would suspect we have the youngest centre back and keeper trio in the league, which although is having a few difficulties at the moment bodes well for the future. Let’s face it if you’d been told at the start of the season that eleven games in playing the youngsters we have we would be sitting in fourth spot, six points clear of fifth and two behind second you’d have snapped their hands off…..Pagan

6th November 2019 at 6:28 pm #51983Truth be told, we should be happy with where we are in relation to where we were when Lampard took over. the conditions were not favourable to him or to us. transfer ban, our best player sold, our best CB injured, our best attacking midfielder out injured, our best central midfielder out injured, some good players that could have improved the team out injured. so to be where we are now in November is totally a miracle.

6th November 2019 at 11:29 pm #51995AnonymousCM Noones complaining why you always say stuff like that. We just trying to pin point our problems at the back cause of all the goals we let in probably more than we ever have for a long time despite our good attacking form which enables us to score goals and be in the top 4, problem is u can’t always rely on scoring you got to stop the goals coming in as well. It’s a serious affair. The goals we letting in has put us in danger of not qualifying further in the CL, anyway good night, need to go sleep now.

7th November 2019 at 4:36 am #51996AnonymousChelsea must sell dozy Pedro and goaty Giroud as they very unhappy with so little game time, Lampard must understand u can’t expect established old players as backups plus they could be blocking so many younger talented players who should be the backup as well as playing whenever possible. Too many players spoil the broth but young academy players understand their opportunities will hopefully come, Up dem mighty Blues.

7th November 2019 at 7:57 am #51998I was only stating my individual opinion like any other person without signalling anyone for criticism. so i don’t know where you are coming from. honestly we are in a season of transition both in the playing staff and management. so there will be pumps on the road before we finally talk about where we should be. but Lampard and the boys are already ahead of scheduale. and credit should be given. and the football we are playing is great even better than last season.
Last season almost every Chelsea fan was crying for an attacking midfielder, CB, a striker, a RB and a winger. almost all has been solved without a single penny spent. credit to Lampard and his coaching staff. so in that sense i’m happy with how the things are going on.

7th November 2019 at 1:59 pm #52037Facing Palace is always very tough. they always raise their game when they face us. and this time they have our former Captain at the heart of their defence. Kante’s return will be a bonus. also i would give Reece James a start and rest Azpi. Emerson returns. not sure with Mount if he misses, Hudson Odoi will be drafted in and Pulisic could move in to the no 10 or even Willian can play there.

7th November 2019 at 2:08 pm #52041Reece James coming in would make sense this lad has huge huge potential I can see Azpi moving to left back if he does.
If Mount isn’t fit I think Hudson Odoi will come in and Pulisic will move back into midfield to replace him. Kante likely to start in place of Jorginho. Other than that it will imo be an unchanged team.

7th November 2019 at 2:46 pm #52045Quality header from Mario Pasalic against Man City last night and overall he had a good game and he’s the star player at Atlanta.
Another loanee who perhaps could/should return to Chelsea next season?

I think if Emerson is fit, he will likely start. i can’t see Frank opting Azpi at Left-back. or he may be ahead of Alonso. again that is unfair to Alonso, he has been playing well until his last two games. and i hope will come back stronger and win his place back. but i can see Reece James taking over from Azpi somewhere in the middle of this season. and Frank is using him the same way he has used to integrate pulisic in to the team. i think Azpi’s contract runs out on 2020, or have i missed something here? we need pace and power to face Zaha and Reece James is the perfect. and keeping Willian on the right hand side will make sense, because Willian will help him defensively. i’m worried about their aerial prowess. they have Benteke and Ayew two big lads, and our record in set-pieces hasn’t been great lately.

7th November 2019 at 5:47 pm #52049AnonymousThe current top 4 are in my opinion, light years ahead of the rest. It’s very early and we may see late development but honestly, I’m so disappointed with a few teams who I thought would do better than Chelsea. That disappointment is countered by the exciting project that you lads have right now.

8th November 2019 at 7:39 am #52074Firstly the bad news Rudiger is scheduled to be out for another month which probably means realistically he won’t play in the first team until well into December.
On a brighter note 5 Chelsea players have been selected for the latest England squad more than any other PL team.?

8th November 2019 at 1:32 pm #52112Evening Standard’s predicted team v Palace? They’re usually fairly accurate.
Kepa, Azpilicueta, Tomori, Zouma, Emerson; Kovacic, Kante, Mount; Willian, Abraham, Pulisic
Frank says Mount in the squad for Sunday but he faces a late fitness test. Barkley is carrying a small injury and not in the squad for Palace.

8th November 2019 at 8:03 pm #52082AnonymousLove Dave…. Great news on the England call ups. all deserved, how many will end up playing for England from our Academy? who was responsible for this crop of players? Wasn’t there some poetic justice to the game this week. Two sides with homegrown players giving it a real ding dong. fantastic…

9th November 2019 at 11:25 am #52150News today that Aussie Sam Kerr is almost certainly joining Chelsea’s women’s team. Nobody probably cares about the women’s side of things but Sam is right up there in the top two or three players in women’s football worldwide.
