Great post Pagan we can only hope that the Club give Kepa help and time to deal with the split from his girlfriend leaving him living alone in London which has seemingly affected his form this season.
It’s a tough one for both Kepa and Frank to deal with and Kepa needs time and help to get back to his best. Hopefully that’s what will happen.

9th February 2020 at 2:16 pm #68327“Chelsea FC were handed council approval in January 2017 to build a new 60,000-seater stadium on the site of the club’s current home ground, but work is yet to commence.
The progress of the new stadium has been put on hold since the visa issue of club owner Roman Abramovich with the UK government.
Chelsea now have less than two months left on their planning approval from the council, which was endorsed by the London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and if not activated, the club might have to start the entire process afresh as the expiration date of March 31 cannot be extended.” ???

9th February 2020 at 2:32 pm #68328Sounds like Jorginho or at least Jorginho’s agent is angling for a move to Juve.
With hopefully a fully fit RLC next season we could probably afford to let Jorginho go and add the likely circa £50m fee to the transfer kitty.

9th February 2020 at 4:05 pm #68336Whilst a new stadium would be nice, it’s an awful lot of money to spend on something you’re only guaranteed to use nineteen times a season…..Pagan

9th February 2020 at 4:26 pm #68337Pagan, I don’t think this is about the cost of building the new Stadium it’s seemingly more about Roman’s stand off with HM Government.
Liverpool have confirmed that they are now actively pursuing new, ‘ambitious’ plans to redevelop the Anfield Road stand of the club’s home ground.
Previous outline planning permission for an extension to the stand will be allowed to expire next month in order for an alternative proposal to be put forward.
The original plans catered for the addition of just 4,000 seats – a figure that would have taken overall capacity to just over 58,000 ” Liverpool are now looking to take that over the 60,000 mark.
I get that Roman is miffed with HM Government and I get why and that it’s left him sitting on his hands re building the new Stadium but given the above the plans for a new Everton Stadium , the Etihad and OT and the sizes of both the Emirates and Spurs new Stadium it’s dangerous from the Club’s perspective if he does that for ever as if will make us uncompetitive re match day revenues v our main competitors.

9th February 2020 at 4:38 pm #683399, increasing our capacity would only increase match day revenue by what? £20m a season, that’s not a lot for a £1b investment. Roman would do better to find another couple of sponsors to make that up…..Pagan

9th February 2020 at 5:00 pm #68342Pagan, that’s one way to look at it albeit Spurs match day revenues have increased by almost £30m. But it’s not just about the revenues it’s also what a 60,000 capacity Stadium would add to the atmosphere at the Bridge and the players such a Stadium might attract.
As I said I don’t think this has a anything to do with what it might cost, Roman knew about that from the earliest stages of the new Stadium development and at that point he was quite happy to fund the costs.
The reality is that the plans to develop the Stadium were pulled on the back of Roman losing his UK visa which according to the Guardian and other media sources was purely political and related to the Skripal poisonings in Salisbury and the UK Governments fallout with Russia over it..
It’s a very tangled web and without it untangles there’s every chance that Roman will not give the green light to the new Stadium plans.
Tbh with you I wouldn’t blame him why would he make such a massive investment in the UK which would create countless jobs and opportunities for the many businesses around the ground if he’s not welcome in the UK.
We’ll have to wait and see what transpires over the next few weeks and whether the Club let’s it’s planning permission expire.

9th February 2020 at 5:12 pm #68345Allegedly?
“No direct plans to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga at the moment.
Plan is to find a replacement for Caballero but with a different strategy.
Lampard wants a young keeper who can challenge for the #1 spot and not a just any experienced benchwarmer.” ????
Might make sense though we’ll see?

9th February 2020 at 5:40 pm #68347Pagan, Why? It’s all in the public domain.
Tell you what I’ll add “according to the Guardian and other media sources.” ?
“Roman Abramovich the owner of Chelsea Football Club, could be asked to explain the source of his vast wealth before he is granted a new UK visa.
The Russian oligarch’s investor visa application is still being considered after his previous one, which was granted before tighter regulations were introduced in April 2015, expired.
No 10 said that while it would not comment on individual cases, it was the “logical conclusion” that some wealthy individuals who had applied under the investment visa route before the changes would no longer be eligible.
The government launched a further crackdown on wealthy investors coming to the UK after the Salisbury poisoning, increasing tensions between the UK and Russia.” The Guardian
For 15 years he was welcomed into London and Premier League football, garlanded as his money bought Chelsea stars and trophies, and few questions were asked about him or the source of his billions. Then last year the British government delayed renewing Abramovich’s Tier 1 investor visa, as part of its suddenly keen concentration on Russian presence and money in the UK. He appeared to have been caught up in Britain’s retaliatory action aimed at the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, following the March 2018 outrage, the Novichok poisoning in Salisbury of the former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. 9th February 2020 at 5:56 pm #68351“Stamford Bridge was not the biggest to begin with, and as their rivals upgrade and expand their stadia, the Blues are stuck in limbo.
If you’re interested in the full story on what’s happening with the frozen redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, you can check out the Athletic’s extended piece here.
It’s packed with interesting nuggets, but one date in particular caught our eye. March 31st is the final day Chelsea’s planning permission, applied for in 2017, will be relevant.
If they haven’t begun work by then, it becomes void and they would have to go through the whole process again to get it back.
So it seems that the end of next month is a significant barrier – if, as we expect, there is no progress, we can consider all of the plans off.
However, that deadline might also prompt some last minute movement on the club’s part. Let’s see if we hear a peep in the next 2 months.” Chelsea News.

9th February 2020 at 6:58 pm #68354Yet spookily Abramovich only lost his visa after the UK Government fell out with Russia after the the Novichok poisoning in Salisbury after Abramovich had readily been granted visas over the previous 15 years.
But the reasons for Abramovich not getting his visa are irrelevant to the current situation the facts are the UK Government haven’t agreed to renew his visa for whatever reason following which Abramovich pulled the plug on the Stadium plans to build the new Stadium.
Whether that remains to be the case and the Club let the planning application run out as it will on March 31st is open to conjecture personally I hope they don’t but we’ll see.

10th February 2020 at 12:42 pm #68380“Chelsea made the biggest net profit of any club in the world in the last two transfer windows, according to newly-released data.
The London club, who served a transfer ban last summer after breaching FIFA rules on the recruitment of young players, spent just €45million (just over £38million) on Mateo Kovacic but recouped €205m euros in sales (£173.7m).”
Without the £58m for Morata to come in this Summer and any sales out. Ready Steady GO! 🙂

10th February 2020 at 8:17 pm #68399Pagan,UEFA rules prohibit a Club from making more than a 30m Euros loss over 3 fy’s. On top of that there’s also an option for owners to invest 5m Euros each fy.
So £77m of profits over the first two fy’s one minus the circa £100m loss in the last fy equals a loss of £23m circa 26m Euros over the last 3 fy’s
Add to those losses the reported £173m profit from transfers plus the £58m to come in the Summer for Morata and even without further player sales which there almost certainly will be and could be added to that total and Chelsea are seemingly well placed to be quite active in the transfer market this Summer.
I think there’s room for Chelsea fans to be fairly positive that given the above Chelsea will be looking to be reasonably significant spenders this Summer.

10th February 2020 at 8:49 pm #68404Pagan, I’m not going to play accountant the Club have always adhered strictly to FFP and are on record as saying that the £100m loss last fy which had a number of exceptionals in it doesn’t put the Club’s adherence to FFP at risk and the previous years profits support that.
We know we’ve taken a lot of money for Hazard and the recent reports confirm that and that there is £58m to come in for Morata in the Summer from Atletico Madtid plus whatever we might make from player sales this Summer.
All of the above suggest that there is every reason for Chelsea fans to be positive that the Club will be fairly active in the Summer transfer market. If you don’t want to go along with that no problem that’s your perogative
The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.?
