I wonder if Chelsea’s interest in Soumare suggests we might be prepared sell Kante for a lot of money to Real in the Summer? We might of course not get him but this could be an indication?

Looking at Bakayoko’s situation at Chelsea. I will be warry signing another player from league 1. selling Kante with a huge amount at this time in his career is a good option. but we better not go anywhere near another League 1 midfielder after our experience with Bakayoko.
Good news though on the Reece James front.

17th January 2020 at 12:46 am #60779Chelseaman, I don’t think the Club will be put off of buying from Liague 1 just on the basis of Bakayoko not working out two of our greatest ever players came from Liague 1 after all.
Sky are reporting that both Chelsea and United have agreed a fee with Lille for Soumare and the player is deciding between the two.
My point really wasn’t whether we eventually get him or not but the fact that we are seemingly looking at similar players to Kante.

17th January 2020 at 6:37 am #60782N’Golo has all of a sudden become injury prone and we are less dependent on him, especially the modern day N’Golo. I’d like the player back that we had pre Sarri, doing what he did best however that may not be possible. He is signed up until late 2023. The following was his quote only in November 2019 when linked with PSG “‘Sometimes we do not necessarily know where we want to go, but we know what we have.” He said he felt good in London and had faith in the project at Chelsea.

Really good young player

17th January 2020 at 8:02 am #6078767, don’t get me wrong I want Kante to stay at Chelsea but if he was going to do so why would we be interested in signing Soumare who is a very similar player to Kante.
Also we’ve heard all this talk of him going to Real who we know don’t play with a straight bat on transfers evidenced by Hazard’s admittance in an interview only a few days ago that he had been personally phoned ( tapped up) by Zidane in 2016 telling him he wanted him at Madrid.
Hopefully it’s just me adding up 2 and 2 and making it 5!?

17th January 2020 at 8:44 am #60793RE Soumare, it wouldn’t have an impact on Kante. Soumare is one for the future and would need time to adjust to the Prem at a young age. If he is similar to Kante then great because we will get at least another 2 years of Kante, and in that time Soumare would be learning and adapting.

17th January 2020 at 12:18 pm #60800AnonymousAMZ… There is a very accomplished player in Christensen. Just needs a run in the side with a settled defence alongside him. He can ping a pass, can win headers, and gets up in good attacking areas at corners. If Lampard is in house for a couple of season then I think we’ll see him become a towering inferno. Watched him live last month and he does some really good things on and off the ball.
I reckon his game suffers from a lack of confidence, and that impacts some of his decision making. I’d pair him with rudiger as I think Zouma has more ricks in him per game than Christensen. I also think Timouri is going to be integral for a number of years so the back three going forward are Timouri, Christensen and Rudiger imo. Depends how we set the side up. Three or four and one sits out… Anyone else in the youth ranks who might step up?
sailorboy… James is a tank in the tackle and has no qualms about going in hard. Saw him elbow barge a villa player off the ball going in with arms up and out… poor lad fell bounced off him three feet. England have a number of very good options at right back over the next few years.

17th January 2020 at 1:13 pm #60803Amz, all true buddie and Soumare alongside Kante and Kovacic would form a very competitive midfield 3 still think we need a bit more creativity in there too, let’s see what develops.Cheers 9’s

17th January 2020 at 1:23 pm #60804999 my thoughts were exactly that. I believed Kante was a must keep pretty much until the injuries started rolling in toward the end of last season, that apart from his change in role away from that which he specialises in as the holding/defensive midfielder. The club have found that there is life after Hazard and may well want to cash in on N’Golo and use the funds to strengthen multiple positions including that of N’Golo himself.

17th January 2020 at 1:32 pm #60805442 Christensen had his chances and blew them. He has not improved one bit and always gets niggling injuries.
As i mentioned previously if you want Chelsea to win big prizes, we need big players and looking at our squad, CB need improving on and a winger.
Koulibaly and Sancho.
Then Werner to fight/rotate with Tammy for a starting spot up front. We also need to replace one of Emerson (my preference to sell) or Alonso.
Those 3 additions would get us nearer to Liverpool. That’s our aim right?

17th January 2020 at 1:50 pm #60809Frank’s pre match conference:
Lampard dismisses suggestions that Ross Barkley, who has been linked with West Ham, could leave. He also says Willian will be staying and that the Brazilian is still in talks about a new deal.
In terms of possible signings, Lampard says there is “nothing imminent” and he is unwilling to comment on specific players Chelsea have been linked with.

17th January 2020 at 2:02 pm #60813“Chelsea manager Frank Lampard insisted Bruce Buck was ‘joking’ when he suggested the Blues were close to bringing in a new January signing.
Buck addressed the media before Lampard’s usual pre-match press conference on Friday, taking the opportunity to announce the Blues are formally adopting the IHRA definition of anti-semitism.
But before handing over to Lampard, the Chelsea chairman said: “Who are we signing? I do know, but I won’t be telling.”
“Cheers for that Bruce,” responded Lampard, “this press-conference has become a lot harder now.”
“That was a joke,” Lampard insisted. “There is nothing imminent.” Evening Standard.
Subsequently:
“There is nothing imminent,” he added. “There are people waiting in the wings. I won’t talk about individuals. But there is nothing imminent.” Frank Lampard ???

17th January 2020 at 2:14 pm #60815AnonymousAMZ… im very happy for this side to bed in… Players to improve over a period of time. I’m prepared to give Lampard until the end of next season so dont really care what happens between now and then so long as the players we have improve.
Not sure what chances he’s blown, Rio ferdinand made mistakes at Leeds and WEst ham. Christensen is 23… United Signed Rio Ferdinand when he was 23… rio was a 30 million pound centerback too… look how that turned out for united. Any club wanting him this window will need to stump up potentially 45 million. imo, rather keep an upcoming defender than sign one who could go either way.
Really think our young guns are the team to watch over the next decade and they will win everything as they have done at junior level. That’s my wish anyhow.

17th January 2020 at 2:53 pm #60818I think everyone wants to see their Clubs win the biggest trophies utilising their Academy players and Chelsea are currently in a great position with the players that have who have recently come through their Academy but even prior to this Chelsea team the very best example of an Academy driven team was United’s Class of 92 and there’s been nothing to match it since until perhaps now but even United who have always been the very best at bringing through Academy players haven’t been able to repeat the Class if 92.
And we shouldn’t forget that Ferguson added to that Class of 92 with Eric Cantona and record buy Roy Keane who were massively influential in the success that Class of 92 enjoyed and soon after that United added record signing Andy Cole to that Class of 92 too!

17th January 2020 at 3:01 pm #60819Anonymous9’s. Its a little different now and then though but do get your point.. We have experienced internationals at the club, so imo Chelsea are kind of doing a united but in reverse where the young are coming into a side of fully fledged internationals. We will have to buy, of course.. the alternative path we could take is Arsenal circa ground move. GULP!
Arsen Wenger has still spend 1 billion dollars in the transfer market despite running his academy… food for thought.

17th January 2020 at 3:16 pm #60821Lampard on Barkley, Willian and Giroud.
“There’s no talk here of Ross Barkley going anywhere. He’s our player, he’s played the last couple of games and done very well,” Lampard said.
“Ross hasn’t featured as much this year but I’ve got a lot of faith in Ross.
“So that (West Ham’s reported interest) was just news that I heard like everybody else and I’ve absolutely no feeling towards it (Barkley going). I’m very happy with him.
“Willian is not going anywhere. We know his contract is up at the end of the season. He’s in conversations with the club, which are still ongoing.”
Lampard also said there was “nothing imminent” in terms of possible signings and reiterated that Olivier Giroud, who is wanted by Inter Milan, will only leave if Chelsea are happy with the deal.” Evening Standard

17th January 2020 at 8:40 pm #60837Well, I have to say Barkley will be crucial tomorrow if we are to unlock that stubborn Newcastle defense tomorrow. granted that Newcastle will sit deep and defend with 10 men behind the ball. and it’s these kinds of opposition that frustrate us and we struggle. I would recall Kovacic to replace Mount. as for the rest of the team, I would stick with the team that started against Burnley.
