442 & 9s-But putting aside sales of players, are we saying RA is not allowed to spend his own ££££ any more? Thats what I was alluding to,since surely he is allowed to spend his own money, right??

16th January 2020 at 11:45 am #60718442 – chelsea clearly have money to spend otherwise Lampard wouldn’t come out saying he will look to improve the team with new players.
We have had multiple outgoings other than Hazard to account for too. Plus as you mentioned, Drinkwater, Moses, Bats and we also have Christensen, Emerson/Alonso, Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Kennedy

16th January 2020 at 1:17 pm #60730Barkley has been injured and is back in the squad now.
Baka is at Monaco on a season long loan, hopefully he’s doing well there and they buy him back.
One of Emerson or Alonso we leave, my preference is to sell Emerson.
Moses will be sold, Hopefully we sell Christensen and buy a better CB than we currently have at the club.
Bats not good enough for cfc, Pedro and Giroud’s contracts are up this season so will be gone, Giroud this window and Pedro for free in summer.
Hope Drinkwater does well for Villa so they end up buying him in summer.
We have a lot of players to sell and we only require a smaller portion of players coming in.
Then we have players such as Kennedy, Nathan, Miazga, Piazon, Baba Rahman, lewis baker and Zappacosta to sell.
We have sold Hazard £90m, Aina £9m, Kalas £8m, Hector £8m, Luiz £8m, Omeruo £4m and Morata £60m. Thats £187m outgoing with Kovacic the only summer buy at £40m.
So for this summer we have made a profit of £147m in just player sales.

16th January 2020 at 1:47 pm #60743AnonymousAmz… Name me a better center back that is obtainable for a fair price at Christensen’s age in world football?
Lampard does have money to spend, but given today’s crazy prices and annual price inflation, it wont be more than two or three players max. 147 million into Sancho and one other… even championship players fetch a 20 million premium. The other question is – are those leaving being replaced by better than we have?
Mav, CFC’s business model was to be self sustaining after ten years of Roman’s investment. He dipped into his wallet last year. Didnt he give money to fordstream?
I just think the days of CFC spending mega bucks are over and we dont have an owner who can enter the UK. Hence why the academy was built and run in the way it is and has delivered five players this season, many of whom have won every single honour at youth level. (that’s an incredible achievement and needs to be backed by management) That’s like Spain’s/ Barca’s soccer academy during the Xavi ineista period. Have faith! 😉

16th January 2020 at 1:54 pm #60745Mav, as you know FFP prevents owners buying players now player probably rightly so.
Purchases have to come from the revenue the Club creates and principally for Chelsea that’s been achieved by selling players as Amz highlights above there’s a lot to come into the Club on player sales out and probably more to come in the Summer too which is why I suspect Chelsea will be busy on transfers between now and the end of next Summer’s window as Frank begins to reshape the squad the way he wants it to be which will also include the up and coming youngsters at Chelsea too.

16th January 2020 at 2:00 pm #60746Whatever is or isn’t going to happen for Chelsea in this window we’ll know in the next couple of weeks.
I’m pretty sure the Club wouldn’t have put the energy they did into getting the ban overturned before the January window if the plan wasn’t to try and sign players in this window.
Whether we can get the players we want in January who will improve the squad which is Frank’s requirement remains the question.

16th January 2020 at 2:09 pm #60747Anonymous9 – there are a lot of players chelsea need to, and will ship out but i cant see them generating much money from those players you’ve listed above. most have been failures and others are nearing retirement!

16th January 2020 at 2:47 pm #60750I’d take Mata back for £5m.
In return we’d like to sell you Barkley for £40m and Drinkwater for £35m

16th January 2020 at 3:51 pm #60759Paxton, no I agree Michy we will be lucky to get £20/30m for, Alonso probably £25m, Barkley if he’s sold probably £30m, Drinkwater we’ll be lucky to get £20m for Giroud possibly £5m in January but every little helps and there’s £58m to come from Atletico in the Summer for Morata too to add to the Hazard money.
Ideally I think we need a bit more creativity in midfield, a back up striker to Tammy a left back and possibly a Centre back too we have to trust Marina to work her magic on sales out.?
We might be forced to do some wheeling and dealing too ie Kante to Real for circa £100m bring in a Kante MK2 for £50m and use the balance to buy a Centre Back? Even perhaps promote Ampadu to the Kante role. Although I would be reluctant to see Kante go.Cheers 9’s

16th January 2020 at 3:54 pm #60762Mav, currently Hazard is injured with a stress fracture to his foot. I haven’t seen him play for a while but in the Summer he did look like he could do with shedding some timber.

16th January 2020 at 3:59 pm #60763Amz,no you’re right and I did include CL money into this fiscal year in my post @ 8:26pm yesterday although I was conservative with £30m coming from the CL this season.

16th January 2020 at 4:02 pm #60765Anonymousthere is no way any of those players will go for those values even in the current market. Barkley 30m? based on what? he’s been a huge disappointment and is constantly injured. spends more time in bars than he does on the pitch. the market is crazy right now but that would just take the biscuit. 15m max. Alonso will go to Spain and they don’t tend to overpay for the non-superstars. 10-15m for him. 20m for Drinkwater? if you think that you need to drink more water coz your clearly off your rocker! 5-8m for him. batshuayi has proved he isn’t good enough for the prem. he’s not young anymore. should be in his prime now but can’t get buy a start. 15-20m for him.
Barkley – 15 (14m of that because he’s English)
Alonso – 15m
Drinkwater – 8m
Batshuayi – 20mThey are the very maximum any team should consider offering for them all.

16th January 2020 at 4:12 pm #60767442 – Age is not the issue, we need someone that is going to lead our line and take command and more importantly, instil confidence in defence.
There’s one player that is obtainable, but we are looking at around £80m – Koulibaly. If we sell Christensen for at least £30m then we are spending £50m on him. Considering we bought Drinkwater for £35m, an extra £15m to get a world class CB is a no brainer.
