11th December 2019 at 9:16 am #56387AnonymousIt’s never been about money when building a football team, it’s how the players gel together.
City have found this to their cost this season. The fact pep has outspent Chelsea and Liverpool and united and still don’t have a defence shows that even spending 250 million wont win you trophies.
I’m starting to think pep is a bit of a fraud. He walked into a club with everything and it’s starting to fall apart under klopps league press.

11th December 2019 at 10:09 am #56388CL draw on Monday and all 5 potential opponents look tough Leipzig might be the lesser of the tough but they currently top the Bundesliga. If only Barkley hadn’t gone all biggy blue pants on the Pen v Valencia things could have potentially been a little easier

11th December 2019 at 10:30 am #56390442 it’s about spending money wisely.
In our current circumstance, we need a couple of great players to blend in with our qality youth players, as well as our need to replace Pedro, Giroud etc.
I don’t think Christensen is good enough, Alonso is also going to be sold as he clearly has dropped down the pecking order.Tammy needs help as Bats is not good enough and won’t hang around too long to play 2nd or 3rd fiddle.
Our squad needs freshening up that’s for sure.

11th December 2019 at 2:05 pm #56420Amz,Liverpool bought 4 players for £250m a large slice of it funded from the Coutinho sale and that took them from top 4 contenders to CL winners and almost certainly PL title winners.
We can follow their lead with most of what we spend funded by Hazard and Morata money etc etc as you rightly say Amz it’s spending it wisely as Liverpool did that counts.

11th December 2019 at 6:04 pm #56457“It is quite clear in the summer we lost Eden Hazard who has been a huge part of scoring and creating for us in the last few seasons. We need more competition in those creative areas.”

12th December 2019 at 3:00 am #56491CHO baulked at signing a new contract and was groomed by Bayern Munich for a potential move there. Chelsea managed to hang on to him as a result of the new direction the club was heading with Frank and Jody at the helm and the transfer ban encouraging/forcing the club to head in the direction of utilising its promising crop of quality youth players.
CHO appears to have been swayed by this however subsequently he has mainly been selected on the bench and getting 30 minute cameos.
We know that he has come back from a serious injury and may therefore be set back in his development toward becoming the player we anticipate he should/could/would become. From what I have seen since his return he may well be coming up short of expectations. Is he happy with his current situation? It would be interesting to know what is going on behind the scenes and where he and Frank are at with his progress.

12th December 2019 at 11:14 am #5650867, re Callum it’s going to take time and he’s going to have to start turning his cameos into performances especially with Pulisic playing so well. But he’s coming back from a bad injury and perhaps we all expected too much too soon from him following that injury. I’m sure he’ll eventually come good though.

12th December 2019 at 2:02 pm #56518Barca reportedly interested in signing Jeremie Boga from Sussolo 10 goals in 14 appearances this season but Chelsea have a £3.5m buy back clause. Another decision for Frank and the Scouts.

12th December 2019 at 2:30 pm #56521“I have stated several times my wish is to stay at Chelsea. I like the club very much, I feel very welcome here, as well as my family, and we love living in London.
“However, I’m in the middle of the season and I try not to think about it so as not to lose focus on the field. My agent and the club are talking and I hope we can have some good news soon.
“In transfer windows it is normal to have bids and speculation, especially for players who are in the final year of their contract. But my focus is 100 per cent on Chelsea and the season.”

12th December 2019 at 8:58 pm #56572Fikayo Tomori has signed a new long-term contract at Chelsea until 2024.
Standard Sport reported earlier on Thursday that Chelsea were hopeful of tying down the 21-year-old defender to a new long-term contract.
Tomori has impressed for Frank Lampard’s Blues this season with 16 appearances so far, and has now put pen to paper on a contract extension at Stamford Bridge.
Tomori – who has made both his Champions League and senior England debuts this season – said: “It’s obviously a very proud moment for myself and my family. I’ve been at the club since I was seven years old so I don’t really know much else other than Chelsea.
“The club has been so good to me, looking after and developing me during that time into the player and the person I am today. It’s a dream come true to sign a new five-year contract. I’m really happy the club have shown this faith in me and I’m just excited to carry on.”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: “We are very happy to see another fantastic young player come through from our Academy into the senior team. Fikayo has been with us since he was seven years old and has contributed to many Chelsea successes at youth level.
“Having enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Derby last season, Fikayo had a strong start to this campaign and we are enjoying seeing him grow into a key player for us. We are delighted he has committed to the club for the coming years.”
Good news.?

13th December 2019 at 7:20 am #56579I hope we don’t fall in to the Palace trap and pay £80m for Zaha. because i see a failure written in that deal. he is not the world class signing we are looking. i’m not even sure if he is better than Pulsic or even closer to him. all Zaha does is dribble and score a few goals. he is worth £35m at best.
Also Sancho isn’t the world class winger were looking. Pulsic is a better player in my opinion. and the quoted fee sacres me. £100m for a 19 year old player will be a sucide. i would rather pay that amount to get Neymar from PSG than Sancho for £100m. if we lose Willian and Pedro, we may need to replace them. we need one marquee sigining, and a left back. now that Rudiger is back, our best combination could he him and Tomori. but Frank likes Zouma, i don’t know what he sees in him.

13th December 2019 at 9:39 am #56591Zaha is a top player who imo would improve our squad.but he’s not worth £80m.
There’s understandably lots of rumours post the transfer ban we have to trust Frank, Big Pete and Marina on taking the right decisions on who to buy and who to sell that’s assuming we can do some business in January at all.

13th December 2019 at 11:10 am #56597I’m with CM on this. Stay well clear of Zaha. We need to improve our first team in this area, not our squad.
However i have a different view to CM on Sancho. He is able to score goals as well as create. Neymar will cost around £200m plus he is always injured during crucial times for PSG.

13th December 2019 at 1:22 pm #56599Amz, all about opinions mate for squad I really meant squad/ team.
Personally I think Zaha would add to the team but my opinion means nowt it’s all about Frank and Big Pete’s opinion and whether Marina can negotiate the right kind of deals for whoever we might be interested in.
Most important thing for me though is that thank goodness we’re now able to discuss signing players again.? Cheers 9’s

14th December 2019 at 9:33 am #56638We have a few of good and young attacking players at the club. all we need now is one or two marquee signing to compliment those young players. for instance, if we are looking to get Werner from RB Leipzig, then i’m more than happy to welcome him. we play 60+ games a season, and Abraham cannot play all of those games. our current back up strikers are non existent. but if we are looking a winger who have a very good en product and who can replace Hazard if not do better than, then that man is Neymar. i dare to dream there! who knows if we may even use a player and cash. for example Kante and cash? i know that will be controversial. but if we do, we can match City and Liverpool and race miles ahead our top 4 rivals. and that is only possible in the summer. but sometimes we need to think outside the box.

14th December 2019 at 1:54 pm #56648C man,I’m sure Frank and Big Pete etc will have a short, medium and long term transfer strategy for the Club. It’s just nice to be able to talk about potential transfers once again.
