The biggest problem that Arsenal has is the lack of commanding defensive midfielder. and they never had that kind of player for almost a decade now. the last one they had was Gilberto Silva. if you can get that kind of player, he can solve many of your defensive issues.

How about you add two zeros and he will be yours before the Valencia game?

I have to say, i’m disappointed that Mount was dropped, the guy is our best player. also i have my hand on my heart every time Christensen and Zouma start together. but thankfully we have Azpi and Kante to make up for that. plus the pace of James.

27th November 2019 at 5:22 pm #54559Horse for courses imo rather than dropped CM strong in midfield and a goal threat from Pulisic. I suspect Mount will get on at some stage and play v WHU.

27th November 2019 at 7:56 pm #54576Disappointing second once again after that City game. and again Batshuayi killed our momentum once he came on. i don’t know when will Frank realise that Giroud is a better option. should have been Pulisic who goes off and not Willian. i felt on their second half performance Valencia deserved to take all the points.

27th November 2019 at 9:13 pm #54598“We nearly won it, we nearly lost it. Itβs very difficult to come here and get something and it is a positive that itβs still in our hands.”
Probably the perfect summary by Frank.
It’s in our hands v Lille at the Bridge.

27th November 2019 at 9:36 pm #54610For me we have no leaders on the pitch, hence although we have great players we seem a bit disorganised, also we constantly look like weβre playing down hill, good going forward but slow coming back. Still itβs still in our hands, a win in the next round and weβre through….Pagan

27th November 2019 at 9:39 pm #54611We should have probably tried to shut up shop Pagan but we kept going forwards trying to get a third and paid the price but as you say it’s in our hands at Stamford Bridge in a couple of weeks.

27th November 2019 at 9:43 pm #54612Yep, we should have, unfortunately to do that you need organisation and discipline and an on pitch leader to make sure it happens. Iβm not sure where thatβs going to come from unless Rudiger has it in him, otherwise thatβs the one thing we may have to buy in….Pagan

27th November 2019 at 9:50 pm #54615Currently Pagan I think Rudiger is the only hope in that area and he will bring much needed authority to the back 4 too but even when he’s judged fit to start it’s going to take him some time to get match fit after such a long lay off.

27th November 2019 at 9:55 pm #54616I hope so, but leadership is a personality trait, our academy has been fantastic at technique and attitudes, not sure it stretches to leadership though….Pagan

I won’t worry about the leadership issue. this is a young squad who have never been this high in their career. and they have a lot to learn an grown. the oldest player on the pitch on for us in the last 10 minutes was Azpi at 29. so leaders are made and i have full confidence in Frank to identity. once Jorginho and Willian left the pitch we lost our direction. we also missed Tomori’s calm and quickness. Christensen was a bit shaky but i thought Zouma was outstanding once again. the only disappointment i had was the Kante performance tonight. he was way below his usual high standards. and also Willian seems to either be tired or out of form.

27th November 2019 at 10:08 pm #54625Leadership is in built JT had it’s difficult to find especially amongst young players. Fabulous penalty save by Kepa but I’m not sure what he was doing for the second goal which probably was a fluke. On reflection not sure Kepa could have got it though.

28th November 2019 at 7:49 am #54653AnonymousYesterday was a prime example of how we need a world class calibre CB. We should have lost that game, how many times did Valencia get in to dangerous positions? People will point to Rudiger but Rudiger is a good defender. We need a great defender who will lead the line like JT did and like VVD does.
