“Timo Werner has signed a new deal this week with Red Bull Leipzig, however it has been revealed that his contract includes a surprisingly low release clause.
The German international had been linked with moves to reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Champions League winners Liverpool over the summer.
It looked as though either club could sidgn him on a free transfer next summer had he not agreed a new four-year deal in Leipzig.
The 23-year-old joined Leipzig back in 2016 from Stuttgart and has been a stand-out performer for the Die Bullen, forming a formidable partnership with Denmark’s Yussuf Poulsen.
According to Kicker, his new contract includes a release clause of just €30 million.”
Meaningless extension if the above is accurate threeps?

26th November 2019 at 7:03 pm #54432Ah yeah forgot about the release fee of 30m, yeah seems it is there. Just means RBL get some money, he was always going to go this summer just not for free. 30m isn’t much for top teams, just expect Munich to be favorites as they love to buy up the young German talent and need to replace Lewandowski at some point.
Seems the extension was done so that RBL get some money for their star man and another year out of him, Bayern get the player they want for a price they want when Lewandowski might start to slow down (no sign yet!!) and Werner gets a big pay rise for a year before his move.

26th November 2019 at 9:51 pm #54446“sometimes you don’t know where you are heading. but you know what you have got where you are”
Ngolo Kante when he asked why he didn’t join PSG in the summer.
Juan Mata came to my mind. what he got at Chelsea and where he is now.

27th November 2019 at 8:01 am #54466“Conor Gallagher is having an excellent season in his first year of senior football on loan at Championship side Charlton Athletic.
Under the guidance of Lee Bowyer, the Chelsea midfielder has produced some excellent numbers so far.
According to Transfermarkt, the 19-year old has been directly involved in 8 goals for Charlton this season in 17 appearances across all competitions. He has scored 6, and assisted 2 from midfield so far and we haven’t even hit Christmas yet.
Yesterday, Frank Lampard described Ross Barkley as ‘showing a lack of professionalism’ after another reported nightclub incident over the international break.
Lampard on Barkley 1/2: “One is the headlines this week. Ross knows how I felt about the first headline. I backed him then and now. He showed a lack of professionalism.”
Lampard on Barkley 2/2: “I don’t want to become a dictator because he deserves some freedom. I like Ross, he is one of my players. He needs to show his reactions on the pitch.”
At this rate, if Barkley doesn’t show miracle improvements on and off of the pitch, he is likely to be out the door and replaced by Gallagher, who is showing all the signs of having a great Chelsea future.
Lampard will not take these kinds of attitudes and unprofessional-ism. Whilst he has been wise in protecting Barkley in public, this will not be sitting well with the Chelsea manager.”

There is no doubt that Barkley has a supreme talent. but his biggest Achilles heel is his attitude and his mental state. i would say if he is not careful, Mason Mount will completely take his position in the England squad come 2020 Euro. i don’t understand how a play as talented as he is cannot unlock his potential. Sarri got some good performances earlier last season. but faded once we hit the Christmas period. i think he has a fragile personality.
With Loftus-Cheek returning from injury next month. i expect him to shape or shipped out. we can’t have three no 10s in our squad all vying for one place in England. Barkley had a chance to lay a marker earlier when Mount was a new comer and Loftus Cheek was injured. but he completely blew that chance away. now he is fighting for his career let alone his Chelsea future.

27th November 2019 at 10:33 am #54476CM-Mata is finished @ the top of the game, has been for the last few years no matter where he plays! It seems he is getting a role somewhere within the club, otherwise he would have been let go ages ago. There is a rumour he already has joined the coaching staff in some capacity @ OT.

27th November 2019 at 10:39 am #54477Barkley is a very decent player and a bargain considering what Chelsea paid for him but he’s not kicking on like he should be and his distribution is often poor. Alongside that he not acting professionally off the pitch. He’s got it all to do between now and next Summer imo.

27th November 2019 at 11:14 am #54492AnonymousRoss B… Essentially, where is his best position? For me its the number ten role behind a lone striker.
Is he as good as Kovacic or Kante on the ball. No. Is he as versatile as RLC is playing deep, wide or forward on a park? not really. Is he as good in the number 10 role as Mount or RLC? debatable given how he offers up possession frequently despite being quick direct and influential.
I am a fan, he is a very good player, but the club he signed for non longer exists and I think he’ll be on his way with Willian, Pedro, Alonso, Emerson, Giroud and others signed by either Sarri or Conte. I would put Rudigers place under threat in this Chelsea side as well, by the time he’s fit, Timori, Zouma and Christiensen will be the preferred options.
Ross B will have no shortage of suitors and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him move to Arsenal, United, or Liverpool who could do with his type of skills.
Financially, getting rid of the players listed above will free up huge wages and bring in substantial transfer fees. But again, whoever comes in, needs to fit in with the crop of youngsters or they will be like ross B inn being outsiders in the squad. Very difficult for Chelsea to get the right type of players in going forward.

27th November 2019 at 11:31 am #54504Buffy-Youth is the future, just look @ what Lamps is doing and what Ole is trying to do,with the likes of Williams,Tuanzebe,MCT,Greenwood,Garner,James.Lamps has almost got an entire 11 of fantastic young player coming through,so Arse should adopt the same policy.Pay the likes of fooking Ozil to leave, sell Luiz,Socratis,Xhaka,Mustafi,Kolasinac, etc, and focus on youth.

27th November 2019 at 11:35 am #54506we have decent youth already and they are being played and doing OK concidering the environment and total lack of a clue form the manager, the CB that comes in next year is already a start, not sure holding will make the step up but maybe OK backup, but we need at least one solid commanding CB to pair with the new lad, id also add a RB personally as ours hasnt been great attacking or defending for a while…LB im happy with, then a SOLID Dm and the attackers are all in place really, then its working on tactics, an identity and mentality…
