13th July 2022 at 2:59 pm #196959“I grew up as a Chelsea fan and I made my name playing for Chelsea the club I’ve always supported,” James said. “I don’t see why that would change, I play for Chelsea now and I’m enjoying it.” Reece James
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount hopes to sit down and discuss a new Blues contract over the next couple of months.
“I’ve got two years but I’m extremely happy at this club. I’ve been here since six years old.” Mason Mount
The above two players and two new improved contracts for them are probably the two most important signings the new owners can make.

21st July 2022 at 11:29 am #197029This has to be one of the worst pens I’ve ever seen 😁. Interesting to see how Gallagher gets on this season. Could be a real chance for him to break into the first team.

7th September 2022 at 3:31 pm #198790So while we all have different feelings on tuchels sacking, I think we all agree he was not getting enough out of the team.
When Tuchel first came in we were in a similar situation to the one we are in now, but we have a markedly different squad now and when you think how quickly he solved the problems initially it does seem as though he was struggling with this squad.
Firstly, I don’t think the profile of the squad is best suited to a back 3 anymore. I don’t think we have the depth in quality centre backs for it to be sustainable game after game. When I look at the profile of defenders I think it is screaming out back 4;
RB
James
Azpilicueta
RCB
Fofana
Chalobah
LCB
Silva
Koulibaly
LB
Chilwell
CucerellaMidfield
If we have a back 4 then we need to find the best structure to defend, either 442 or or a variant of 451/4231.We will struggle to find a reliable, fit and consistent anchorman out of the players we have and so I don’t think we can play with a 6 and two 8s but would love to be wrong on that.
I think we need a double pivot, and here are our options, pick 2 of;
Kante – World class when fit, Hardly ever fit.
Jorginho – Regressing fast but still useful providing his partner is mobile and tracks back
Kovacic – Actually one of the best box to Box mids in the world…when fit. Perfect with either jorginho or kante
Zakaria – He is just a loan but we need him to be an option for us this year. If he can defend, move and keep the ball he could find himself playing a lot of games for us.
Ruben – Not decisive or effective in final third but imo a great squad player and good box to box.
I do not see Gallagher as deep midfielder.
Our best option for midfield pair on paper is kovacic and kante, but their injury records suggest we will often see jorginho with Ruben/Zakaria. Either way out of the 4 remaining spots to select for forward positions we will need 2 to be able to defend wide and track full backs.
This is where it is really tricky. If we are to go with a base of back 4 and double pivot in front, how do we arrange the remainaining 4 players in and out of possesion based on player ability?
The Front 4.
Now just looking at the quality of the players available, It would appear that Sterling, Aubameyang, Mount and Havertz are the best individual players, but can they work in a system like this?
I would think in defence that Havertz and Mount would have to be wide, sterling could do it but I think we better allowing him to stay high with auba.
So putting this together I think our best 11 would be 442 in defence and 4222 in offence with Mason and havertz coming centrally from wide positions in offence allowing space on wings for James and chilwell to get involved.
I think Gallagher is perfect to deputise for either Mount or havertz in this type of system.
I think whoever comes in will certainly need to find a new approach that better suits our squad and I think something along the lines of 442/4222 suits our players;
GK
Mendy
KepaRB
James
AzpilicuetaRCB
Fofana
ChalobahLCB
Silva
KoulibalyLB
Chilwell
CucerellaCM
Jorginho
Kante
Kovacic
Ruben
ZakariaLM/LAM
Mount
GallagherRM/RAM
Havertz
ZiyechSECOND STRIKER
Sterling
PulisicSTRIKER
Aubameyang

19th October 2022 at 8:50 am #200056New Bridge Rising!
Chelsea have confirmed a massive redevelopment of Stamford Bridge will start “in the next year”.
Just months after Todd Boehly’s £4.25billion takeover, co-owner Jonathan Goldstein promised the Blues will go “fast and hard” with their “big project”.
Chelsea will press ahead with plans to hugely revamp Stamford Bridge
Goldstein blasted the UK as “uninvestable” under Prime Minister Liz Truss due to rising interest rates.
But he promised that fear would not hinder Chelsea’s spending on their ground.
The British entrepreneur said: ‘We are looking very heavily at redevelopment.
“The planning process is something which we will start during the course of the next year.”
There’s been a few false dawn’s with the redevelopment of the Bridge/A new ground but it seems under the new owners they are keen to press ahead with a redevelopment which is the chosen route of the majority of the fans.

26th October 2022 at 10:34 am #200350Chelsea appoint Laurence Stewart as new Technical Director.
“Stewart will join Chelsea when he completes his commitments to AS Monaco where he is currently technical director, having moved to the Ligue 1 club in June 2020. During his time at Monaco, the team recorded consecutive third place finishes in Ligue 1 and was a finalist in the 2021 French Cup.
Prior to his role as the technical director at AS Monaco, Laurence was the global head of scouting at Red Bull Soccer International. Earlier in his career, Laurence was the head of performance analysis at Manchester City, senior recruitment coordinator at Everton, and was with the England national team in a performance analyst role for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
On his appointment to his new role, Stewart said: ‘I’m delighted to be joining Chelsea and excited about the vision and direction of the club under the new ownership group. I am excited to join them to help them build a world-class global sporting organisation to consistently win on the pitch at the highest levels and provide player pathways to help develop our talent.’
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said: ‘Laurence is an important appointment as we plan to build a deep sporting team that will collaborate closely. Laurence is a world-class football leader who understands talent management, data and scouting, player development and performance.‘
Chelsea wishes to thank the owners of AS Monaco and their management team for supporting the recruitment of Laurence to Chelsea’s project.” Chelsea official Club site.

26th October 2022 at 4:23 pm #2003519 what all does a technical director do? Surely they not going to instruct the coaches as well?

26th October 2022 at 5:19 pm #200352Rover, the role is different Club by Club but generally Technical Directors are primarily looking at the future rather than the present especially in respect of players.
Chelsea FC are looking to create a Group of Clubs around the World it’s possible Stewart may also be involved in that. We’ll have a better idea how it’s all going to work once Stewart is in the Club and it all evolves.
Best example of a Technical Director in the PL is probably Txiki Begiristain and how comfortably he works with Pep Guardiola.

The owners will need an early dialogue/agreement with the CPO if that is the case.

13th November 2022 at 8:56 am #200901Don’t follow Chelsea that closely, obviously, but I still think sacking Tommy Tickle was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction… and hiring Potter even more so… (he should have gone to a Villa/Everton/Newcastle size club before a “Top 6” I think, Brighton to Chelsea was a step too much, talent only gets you so far, experience is needed for Top 6 and Potter doesn’t have that.)

13th November 2022 at 10:20 am #200903Discussing Chelsea’s struggles,
Fabrizio Romano said: “Another poor result and performance for Chelsea yesterday, but I wouldn’t rush to conclusions about this new project just yet“All people at Chelsea know that this will take time. It takes time to bring in new ideas, new manager, new methods, and of course the new directors who will join the club in 2023… it’s part of the rebuilding.
“Everything is new at Chelsea, we’re only a few months into this new era. I think this World Cup break comes at a good time for them. It’s an opportunity to re-start, understand the new vision, and work hard for it.”

16th February 2023 at 7:55 am #204384Just thought I’d save our home from disappearing off the map. Hopefully there’s a few more around than just Lucky, 999 and now myself. 999 don’t say a word on Teamtalk just let it go. I will probably post on there again once we string a few wins together, three might be a big ask for the moment :))))
