What bad luck Chelsea, we need upgrades on Enerson/Alonso, Kepa and Kovacic. Plus another striker to compete with Abraham.

24th November 2019 at 7:45 am #53904They’ve got a lot of good experienced players and a lot of good young players coming through but to go up to the next level in terms of challenging for the league they need to get a few lads in.
“They have enough at the moment to be top four, but they’ll need to add to that.
“He knows they’re just a little bit short of trying to really compete for the league title, they’ll have to bring players in for that.” Roy Keane

24th November 2019 at 8:33 am #53905Thought Kovacic was excellent yday and I’m not his biggest fan. Rudiger in for Zouma. The breaks were constantly on in 1st 30mins
Tomori impresses me more every time I see him.
This a very good young Chelsea side.
I like Willian. Always have but he was poor yday

24th November 2019 at 12:29 pm #53910AnonymousYa, he was poor but it didn’t help that every second ball to him was a yard behind his stride. Chelsea have a load of quality all across the park. I hear Chelsea fans talking about getting in a better LB and I think also RB?
That’s a pretty damn good team but how many of them have to go in order to challenge for the title? Let’s pretend the squad isn’t needed and only first 11, for the hypothetical scenario, since we’re talking about the quality that Chelsea have at their disposal.
Who from that 11 needs to be shifted to the bench, with a top quality replacement coming in.

24th November 2019 at 12:41 pm #53923I think Chelsea need a left back possibly a Centre back if Rudiger can’t get over all his injuries a creative midfield player to unlock stubborn defences a winger to replace Pedro/ Willian with one or both likely to move on in the Summer and a striker because Giroud will move on possibly in January and because sadly Michy isn’t a top 4 striker.
The above will probably need more than one window.
To return to the squad at various intervals between now and next season a fully match fit Hudson Odoi, Rudiger, Loftus Cheek and possibly Ethan Ampadu and Connor Gallagher.

24th November 2019 at 12:46 pm #53924I still think Chelsea are light up top. Pulisic is starting to look the part, Abraham looks promising but is he top level now? I’d say no, but could be one day. So is that an attack to scare the bejesus out of a top defence and bully defenders? Again I’d say no, not in the way Liverpool’s or City’s do.
Frank is doing great and laying down the foundations for successful next few years, but there’s just not enough at the moment for a title charge.

24th November 2019 at 12:50 pm #53925Abraham and still scored ten pl
Goals in his 1st season. That’s a brilliant return at this stage of the season but his general play could be betterHis hold up play etc can be better but he’s doing very well

Agree with you mate but I would be both surprised and disappointed if we don’t see Chelsea challenging for the title over the next couple of seasons.

24th November 2019 at 1:00 pm #53928I’m sure you will get Champions League this season and that will be a massive success for Frank’s first season. I bet most Chelsea fans would have accepted that at the start of the season!
Normally I would agree they should challenge in the next couple of seasons but if Liverpool and City (at least City the two previous seasons) keep up their relentless form then it will be very difficult. If the title winning points total comes back to a “normal” level, like 85 or so, then definitely Chelsea will be in with a shout.

24th November 2019 at 1:01 pm #53929AnonymousThreeps, there is no answer to your question of if Abraham is a top striker. If you can say no he isnt then you can say yes he is and the evidence then would support a yes, not a no. You get me? There hasn’t been enough time, as we all know. He couldn’t be doing much better so far though.
He’s so far scoring at a Harry Kane rate.anyway, cheers for the response Nine.

24th November 2019 at 1:14 pm #53930threeps, as Chelsea develop under Frank more youngsters will be coming through and there are several outstanding youngsters still to come through and Frank armed with a considerable transfer budget from next Summer if he invests wisely then imo there’s no reason to think Chelsea won’t be challenging for the title in a season or two the likes of Glen Hoddle etc etc are forecasting that and I think they are right.
Liverpool went from top 4 contenders to CL winners and genuine title contenders with the signings of Alisson, VVD, Fabinho and Keita and it took Klopp three years to get them to that point and it took Pep a couple of seasons to get to grips with the PL.
Frank and Chelsea are probably already ahead of schedule.
As I said I will be both surprised and disappointed if Chelsea aren’t challenging for the title again over the next couple of seasons providing Frank spends wisely and adds quality to an already exciting young team/squad.

24th November 2019 at 1:38 pm #53935This may be a bit controversial, but the only way to say which is the best club (rather than side) in a Season would be to combine the standings of both the senior teams, that is the women’s and men’s sides….Pagan

24th November 2019 at 8:58 pm #54103Anonymousand ya, all indications so far are that Chelsea are ahead of the curve. Maybe their fans knew of Mount and Abrahama, Tomori etc, I didnt. So far they are playing well. It doesn’t seem like new manager bounce to me but at the same time, we will have to see how Lampard deals with bumps in the road. He comes across as a much calmer, better speaker than Ole, who always looks kinda scared or something.

25th November 2019 at 7:45 am #54161Mount and James to return v Valencia?
The games are coming thick and fast now and the injuries in the squad limits the rotation Frank can do.

25th November 2019 at 1:28 pm #54233Koulibaily (Christensen), Chilwell (Alonso), Milinkovic-Savic (Barkley), Sancho (Pedro) Werner (Giroud).
Those would be my perfect signings and in brackets those they would displace and the club would sell.
