I really feel for Chelsea fans…genuinely.
I am not surprised by this. I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago in a post. But for the fans and proper football supporters it’s not a good day._____________________________

10th March 2022 at 11:34 am #194862This will be my first and only post…. Since day one of Roman Abramovich’s take over of Chelsea I have been opposed his ownership of the club. You can see my post history on team talk. there’ll be people here who will remember, for those who dont, my username was – romansdirtypants.
I have watched Chelsea go from also-rans to global champions. who have won it all. What a journey it has been, but it is tainted by Russian money and I have reminded us fans of this to cheers and derision from fellow fans.
I’ve warned that Russian money in the UK was problematic, Ive mentioned how London was being used to launder cash, how Russian money was buying our politicians, a point proved by the release of the Panama papers and the conservative donors scandal.
“AVI” Abramovich the Israeli citizen no longer has access to UK courts, he tied up his opponents in legal red tape to win libel cases. What is now starting to emerge is that the legal cases and court rulings are probably unsafe given the UK govt has sanctioned CFC for Abramovic’s close relations to the Kremlin and the power broker of the Kremlin is Vladimir Putin. Roman didn’t have his visa renewed due to his association to Putin who sanctioned a chemical weapons attack on the Skripals in Sailsbury.
He has been targeted today because of his interests in Evraz and Norilsk Nickel
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/russias-evraz-norilsk-nickel-agree-us-deals
Now today, it looks like my beloved club is going to go out of business. So to all of you on this web board and team talk who have insulted me for my stance of our ownership, offer your apologies to the people of Ukraine and acknowledge that our owner Roman has effectively killed our club.
That sad principal to the rest of the premier league is Manchester city’s and Newcastle’s owners are far worse than Roman, they buy missiles, hire our service personnel to drop them on civilian targets and murder women and children in Yemen or dismember journalists in their diplomatic missions… The football association and Premier league must be disbanded and we need to urgently get rid of all foreign owned clubs and move to a German model of fans owned clubs or we will see more clubs being frozen out of the game.

10th March 2022 at 11:45 am #194870I pretty much said from day one of Roman’s ownership would end in disaster, here we are.
FYI: Roman no longer has access to UK courts so cannot sue for deformation or libel.
It is the end of Chelsea.

10th March 2022 at 12:19 pm #194872I hope, and I dunno how many Chelsea fans will agree, that out of this they can build a clean, community club to be proud of. it might not win everything. It might not win anything. But it was a club with a famous history before Ambramovich, and it can be again.

10th March 2022 at 12:54 pm #194874This is exactly the problem if your economy becomes heavily dependent on globalisation and foreign powers. British governments have now for several decades put everything up for sale to the whole world and lauded all the money and investment that has come in. That may seem to work out great for a while but the world is always in flux and you never know what’s around the corner. This was never going to last. Governments kidded themselves that it would, and we all went along with it. I just hope that one silver lining out of all this, is that we start investing in ourselves again and refocus our attention here.

10th March 2022 at 1:39 pm #194878Update, Roman still does have access to courts, but he needs special dispensation to make payments to individuals representing him, which is a headache for the lawyers in the city who are on his payroll.
Lets get rid of all these owners from football guys and girls. The game will be far more fair for all fans and wont be politicised for states or non state actors.

10th March 2022 at 2:07 pm #194879“The Telegraph claim the sale of Chelsea can still go through if Abramovich allows the government to take over the process and decide where the funds, thought to be over £2billion, from the deal go.
A special dispensation will be given if the sale is in the best interests of Chelsea that does not benefit Abramovich.
‘HM Treasury may vary, revoke or suspend this licence at any time,’ the licence states.
The report states that prospective buyers have not been told whether Abramovich will consider this option, but it’s claimed one suitor has insisted their ‘interest remains just as strong’ and it’s hoped ‘a solution can be found’.
Abramovich will likely agree to the terms, with the alternative threatening the future of the club he’s owned for close to two decades.”
The above is the Club’s best option to try and get the Club back on some sort of an even keel going forwards.

10th March 2022 at 2:40 pm #194882Nadine Dorries confirmed the accuracy of the Telegraph story above from the Government’s viewpoint in her interview with Sky.
“Downing Street has said it is “open to a sale” of Chelsea, after the club’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the Government over links to Vladimir Putin.
Britain included Mr Abramovich on a new list of seven oligarchs to have their UK assets frozen on Thursday as Britain turned up the heat on wealthy individuals with close links to the Kremlin.
The move has left the future of the Premier League side shrouded in deep uncertainty. Although the club have been granted a licence to continue operating, the Government has barred Mr Abramovich from proceeding with his plans to sell the club, which has reportedly been valued at around £4bn by the Russian tycoon.
However, the Prime Minister’s spokesman said that a new licence could be granted to the club by the Treasury to facilitate its sale. He added: “It’s fair to say the Government’s open to a sale of the club but it would require another licence.” Standard 10/03

10th March 2022 at 5:10 pm #194886Sean, the only way forwards is for the Club to be sold and sooner rather than later.
These sanctions aren’t normal football sanctions they won’t be overturned but hopefully the sanctions can be reworked the loss of revenue from limited ticket sales and no merchandise sales could push the Club into administration if it goes on too long.
Additionally under the current restrictions Chelsea will lose Rudiger because they can’t offer him an improved contract and currently won’t be able to sign a replacement.
I know the Government are trying to protect any revenues going to Roman but Roman has never taken any money from the Club in fact the reverse and there must be a practical way of ensuring that no monies go to Roman though I doubt they ever would have.

The Three statement above is another blow to the Club.

11th March 2022 at 12:20 pm #194892A newspaper report on last nights game I’ve just read says ‘The London club’s fans showed their support for the owner, Roman Abramovich, bt chanting his name throughout the match’
It’s a difficult one for the fans I suppose. But I would have thought extra loud and fervent support for the club rather than RA would be both more productive, and not leave an unpleasant taste in many people’s mouths. I know the Chelsea fans on here are very reasonable and fair minded and I have sympathy for the their position but I would like to know where you guys stand on it all.

11th March 2022 at 1:22 pm #194893Hightown, the fans can’t and won’t forget what Roman did for the Club over 19 years.
I’ve supported Chelsea and have been going to the Bridge from when I was in short trousers and had season tickets for the best part of 25 years too.
I can’t pretend I’m not worried about what the future holds for the Club but my concerns for what’s happening in Ukraine transcends everything.
