“I am so happy to be here. It was a great opportunity for myself and for my career,” he said.

“I had to take the chance to be here at Chelsea, and I’m very happy, very excited and really looking forward to training to start working with my coach.”

Saul won one La Liga title and one Copa del Rey medal in his spell at Atletico – but the chance to win the Premier League was his ultimate reason for joining Chelsea.

“Everything excites me,” the Spain international continued.

“Since I was a child I only had two goals – make history at Atletico or play in the Premier League. Not only because of the league itself, but because of its culture and the language.

“I want to learn the language as quickly as possible in order to communicate with my team-mates better. At Atletico I used to speak with [Kieran] Trippier, but my English isn’t good enough. I don’t dare do interviews in English!

“When a team wins the Champions League, you already know how strong they are – but when you actually face them, you realise how hard they work. I want to win the Premier League and I think I am in the best team to do it.” Saul Niguez 2/09

      Let’s hope so.😊

The more I think about this move nine the better it seems I don’t see how we could have possibly got better as a squad player it’s fantastic business, even if he doesn’t excel he will still provide the minimum value we want which is to be back up to the 3 we have for a year. Whichever way it goes with him this deal is such a good one for us.

A final summary of Chelsea’s Summer transfer window courtesy of our friend Aindro on the Chelsea site.

We were able to get a striker, where we were really lacking. And we were able to get a lot of money from selling players. Also we were able to offload Zappacosta (sold), Bakayoko (loan), Baba Rahman (loan), Batshuayi (loan) and Drinkwater (loan). Only failing point is that we sold Zouma without getting a replacement. But it seems that Tuchel trusts Chalobah. We should be well covered.

          Transfer in:
          Lukaku 97m (from Inter)
          Bettinelli 0 (from Middlesbrough)
          Saul Niguez (loan from Atletico)
          Total in: 97m

          Transfer out:
Tammy Abraham 34m (to AS Roma)
Kurt Zouma 29.8m (to West Ham)
          Tomori 23m (to AC Milan)
Marc Guehi 18m (to Crystal Palace)
          Zappacosta 8m (to Atalanta)
Victor Moses 4m (to Spartak Moscow)
          Giroud 0.8m (to AC Milan)
          Livramento 5m (to Southampton)
          Ike Ugbo 3m (to Genk)
          Dynel Simeu 1.5m (to Southampton)
          Lewis Bate 1.5m (to Leeds)
          Myles Peart-Harris 1.4m (to Brentford)
          Broja (loan)
          Conor Gallagher (loan)
          Billy Gilmour (loan)
          Clarke-Salter (loan)
          Batshuayi (loan)
          Kenedy (loan)
          Emerson (loan)
          Matt Miazga (loan)
          Drinkwater (loan)
          Bakayoko (loan)
          Baba Rahman (loan)
          Ampadu (loan)
          Dujon Sterling (loan)
          Anjorin (loan)
          Maatsen (loan)
          Total out: 130m

Why do we want the luxury of a massive squad, Hudson Odio needs to play every week for his development. Why deny him a loan. Typical German arrogance.

I guess the Tuchel knows better than someone who has never managed a club or who doesn’t understand the wisdom behind keeping large squad to compete on four fronts.

Yeah aindro is a good lad YB, agree re CHO too I mean it’s not as though I would have complained had he been loaned but if tuchel wants him in the squad then that’s where he needs to be.

Nice remarks re Aindro which I totally agree with. Top guy great poster imo.

I think Aindro would be an asset to this site too and I’ve asked Aindro to have a look in on here and see what he thinks.

However although it’s a personal choice I wouldn’t want to see Aindro or indeed anyone else from the Chelsea Site put in all of their time on here at the expense of weakening the TT Chelsea Site which I guess applies to all of us on here who are also posters on the TT Chelsea Site.

I have to say, credit to Chelsea for their transfer business this summer. If titles could be won and lost here alone, Liverpool would probably be relegated, with Chelsea as Champions.

Your top deals are really amazing. Some great figures there, I wonder how the hell you managed it and we couldnt get a decent fee for Shaqiri, who had a good Euros!.

I mean, I’ve never even heard of Marc Guehi but he’s worth 18m, according to Palace. Edwards hasnt managed to sell off the players we needed, or at least for decent fees. He also, and more importantly hasnt been backed by FSG in terms of purchases, so is it any wonder he’s leaving..

Chelsea’s one there is a rising star though. Keep onto her!

From now and Until January, Marina has three crucial tasks to do:
                          1. tie Rudiger, Christensen and Jorginho to a new long term contract.
                          2. Start contract extension with Alonso, Kante, Chalobah, Azpi and even Kovacic.
                          3. Find a new cheaper CB alternative to Kunde if by January Sevilla didn’t drop their asking price.

Lukaku, Havertz and Kante are all doubts v Villa and James is serving a one match ban.

If the 3 doubtful players don’t make it I would go with Werner for Lukaku, Niguez for Havertz, Kovacic for Kante and Chalobah for James with Azpi moving to right wing back.

Not sure saul will play in advanced positions nine, he may now and again but I see him in the double pivot and to be on bench on weekend with jorginho and kovacic starting.

Who is fit to support werner and mount? Would have pulisic, CHO or ziyech they all good enough it’s who is fittest and training best.

Think azpi to wing back and chalobah at right centre back too mate

Not sure that’s where Niguez will be utilised as part of the double pivot Lucky seemingly that’s not what he was promised prior to signing see below but we’ll see.

Chelsea has promised me to train in my position, to play we will see,” Saul told The Mirror. β€œTo return to certain customs that I do not do now, that is the most important reason for my decision.

β€œThe three midfielders who are playing are at a high level, it will not be easy to play, but if I put my mind to it and fight it, I can get it.

β€œI’ll give it a try and see what happens. Give it my all and help Chelsea so that he [Tuchel] can see the SaΓΊl I want to show. Not just a versatile player. They promised me that I would play in my position. It was very important.”

Not sure about Pulasic’s fitness but he did play for the US v Canada on Sunday. Yep Ziyech and CHO are both options too. The beauty having a big squad let’s hope the doubtfuls might make though.

From what I’ve read of what Niguez said and his reasons for leaving Atletico he wants to play in a more advanced role. He’s versatile and can play in a variety of roles including as a pivot but 50% of his career he played left in a 4, he definitely won’t want to play left wing back though. Tbh I hope we don’t need to start him but if we do I trust in Tommy.😊

You got me worried now nine! πŸ™‚ if saul has been signed with promise of playing as one of the 10’s when we already have mount, havertz, ziyech pulisic, CHO and werner competing for those positions then I am flabbergasted. We have 3 players for 2 positions in central midfield, that’s where we needed the addition and I hope to god that is where he is expecting to play. Its where he has played all his career for atletico before simeone changed system last year.
