I think there’s a debate because of the ball to hand/hand to ball thinking, the deliberate hand ball argument, however accidental contact is not taken in to account when a player runs across the back of a player and contact brings them down, it’s still a foul deliberate or not. For me the only debate is round incorporating the double jeopardy rule to instances like this……..Pagan

1st September 2021 at 8:18 pm #184244He only looked at a still? I thought I saw him looking at a replay of it? A moving replay??? I was looking at it sat if I’m. Not mistaken??
What’s his agenda againest Chelsea? Didn’t know Chelsea fans had an issue with him until after Saturday?
He’s a terrible ref in anyway so no surprise
Oliver is the best ref no matter what adlab says 😂

1st September 2021 at 8:30 pm #184246Sean honest mate he ran over to screen as replay showed ball touching arm and it froze at the point ref got to monitor, he looked no more than 2 seconds ran straight to James and gave red. He did not see the ball being struck by pool player and then bouncing off James knee or any kind of replay, it was almost exactly as Nine says in effect a still image. MOTD be on iplayer still mate you said he looked 10 seconds but your memory is wrong. Check it mate at 19 mins and 53 secs he gets to monitor, at 19 mins and 54 secs he is on his way to James issuing red.

1st September 2021 at 8:44 pm #184248Sean, ” The F.A Cup Final In 2017: In Antonio Conte’s first season, Anthony Taylor officiated the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Arsenal. In that match, Anthony Taylor failed to give an handball foul against Arsenal which eventually led to Arsenal’s first goal.
The ball clearly struck Alexis Sanchez’s hand, but Taylor ignored it. Chelsea went on to lose that final with Anthony Taylor also sending off Victor Moses.
The 2020 F.A Cup Final: In another Cup final, Anthony Taylor sent off Mateo Kovacic wrongfully.
Mateo Kovacic was on a yellow card already, but after getting entangled with Granit Xhaka, the Croatian midfielder was given his second yellow card.
Anthony Taylor’s decision to dismiss Mateo Kovacic was clearly wrong as it was seen that Granit Xhaka was the one who fouled Mateo Kovacic and not the other way round. Chelsea also went on to lose that final against Arsenal in 2020.
Maguire’s Horrible Tackle On Batshuayi: In February 2020, Anthony Taylor was biased against Chelsea again. In a match between Chelsea and Manchester United, Harry Maguire appeared to kick Michy Batshuayi in his Groin area, but Anthony Taylor did not caution Maguire even after reviewing it with his VAR team.
Many pundits claimed that Anthony Taylor should have sent off Maguire in that match. What made his decision worse is that Harry Maguire went on to score Manchester United’s second goal against Chelsea in that match.
Just three why Chelsea fans don’t like Anthony Taylor? He has given bad decisions against Chelsea many times and it has cost Chelsea in important matches too.”

1st September 2021 at 8:47 pm #184249AnonymousIt’s because the ball ricocheted from his leg onto his arm so obviously it can’t be a penalty, the rules say accidental handball cannot be penalised and even more so because it hit a legal part of his body first. It’s impossible for him to have moved his arm so quickly to intently stop the ball in such a split second, Not even Banks could have done that. No penalty.

1st September 2021 at 8:50 pm #184250Moos I think confusion over that rule severely added to the emotions on Saturday, certainly for myself as I wasn’t expecting the red.
I think it’s all irrelevant when it’s on the line mate, if ball is prevented from crossing line by hand it’s pen and red.
Like I said earlier though in these circumstances I think justice would be to award the goal and carry on 11 v 11

1st September 2021 at 8:50 pm #1842529, your starting to sound like a Liverpool fan, sometimes things happen, you can’t always blame someone else for your own failings. Are you now going to start crediting referees for victories when we win games where they make mistakes in out favour?………..Pagan

1st September 2021 at 8:52 pm #184253Sean, I know this won’t make any difference going forwards but it demonstrates the strength of feeling against Taylor that goes much deeper than just the incident against Liverpool but circa 50,000 Chelsea supporters have signed a petition to try and prevent Taylor refereeing from any further Chelsea games.

1st September 2021 at 8:58 pm #184256MistraMoos, the laws of the game are not black and white, they are open to interpretation, and refs are instructed on the current interpretation of the laws. I have absolutely no problem with a penalty being given as it probably did stop the ball going in the net, I just think the sending off was a bit harsh considering the double jeopardy law for fouls and this may be up for debate prior to next season.
Anyway I’m sort of honoured you’ve changed you name to the tag I gave you……..Pagan

1st September 2021 at 9:00 pm #184257Pagan, I think we saw on weekend, an unfortunate red card doesn’t guarantee the other side a victory, still has to he earned.

1st September 2021 at 9:45 pm #184265So with regards the season ahead it is looking to be rather exciting don’t you think? 🙂 Premier league, fa Cup, league Cup, champs league and World championship to play for with european super Cup in the bag already.
As for expectations, for me the world club Cup and 80 plus points in league I would be delighted.
Regards the other competitions I am always satisfied with getting to knock out stages in champs league as easy to go out from round 16 on, fa Cup would be nice as lost two finals lately,
Oh and of course like every one else I only care about league Cup if we win it! Otherwise it doesn’t matter really does it 😉

1st September 2021 at 9:57 pm #184268Be disappointed if we don’t finish at least in the top 3 and I would like to see us have a run in the domestic Cups and in the CL and see where that takes us. Really want to see us win the World Club Championship.🤞🤞🤞

1st September 2021 at 10:29 pm #184269Tuchel and the lads must be buzzing at the opportunities they have this year nine. Could see at anfield the mentality and belief is there.
World club Cup for me too mate would love it, I know most footie fans around the world don’t actually care for it but it is history to be made for us and would love to see chelseas name on the trophy alongside utd, real, barca, pool, both the Italian and Brazilian inters have won it too. Corinthians and Sao Paulo also past winners. All these teams are giants so it’s good company to be keeping if we can do it.

2nd September 2021 at 3:21 pm #184295I can see the excellent business we have done in the last two windows and the profit we have made at the same time has rattled some opposition fans who are now throwing the common phrases which are ‘ you bought your way to success’ and ‘ you are not liked outside your club’ all of a sudden we are the most hated team, because our team is competitive once again. I remember who in the summer of 2019 everyone was throwing compliments at us. now the same people who were complimenting us have now retreated to their usual accusatory habit.
To be honest, I don’t care who likes Chelsea and who doesn’t. As long as our club is heading in the right direction and is doing what it does best, I will be happy to take all the hate in this world. After all, if you are not hated, you are not doing well. In the last two seasons, Chelsea has assembled a very competitive squad, and also recruited one of the best bright coaches in Europe in Tuchel, and now even some pundits are sending mixed and confusing messages. Some teams will forever be in our shadows though.

2nd September 2021 at 3:35 pm #184296We got lucky YB. Both that we had such investment to get us to the top table, but also that over last 10 years everything possible has been done to maximise our chances of continually competing at top level within our income and without the need of subsidy.
Not to be taken for granted and in a fair environment other clubs should be able to get as lucky as we have.
Long may it continue but never to be taken for granted bud.
