“I have never been a full-fledged starter, but Chelsea is my club, that’s where I feel at home. It’s a club I love deeply”.
“When I was young, it’s true that I had some problems of discipline But what young person doesn’t? Today, I’m 26 years old, I can channel myself and I work at training and in the game”.
Michy Batshuayi
That is the kind of attitude that you want to have when you are fighting for a spot in the first team.

18th November 2019 at 11:51 pm #53122Cm, I don’t think anything is decided yet either way but Barca are a great Club in a great City a swansong there for a couple of seasons must be very tempting to Willian and he’s served us well.
If we overcame the loss of Hazard I’m sure we’ll overcome the loss of Willian but it won’t be until the Summer by which time apart from Pulisic and Hudson Odoi the transfer ban will be lifted too.

19th November 2019 at 2:02 am #53123AnonymousLiverpool were extremely close to signing Aguero before he went to Atletico. It’s hard to regret some situations though, even as good as he is. If we did sign him, maybe we don’t go for Torres and then later Suarez. I’m sure Aguero would have created his own amazing legacy and perhaps he’d have the staying power and desire that those other 2 didn’t. I dunno though, I think he’d have been off to a more attractive side before things went well for us, like the others.
He’s one of the few players from the entire PL that I’d consider putting into our first 11 as it stands though. Well, you’ll have to excuse me on Gomez because there is something going on there that we’re not aware of. He for me is one of the best CBs in the PL and don;’t even try and argue it with me, you won’;t change my mind. “he had one good half a season etc” I’ve heard it all before.
The only places where I would swap players outright is in midfield. Fabinho would keep his place. I would controversially keep Wijnaldum there or on the bench, he’s the most hard to dispossess player in the PL and he’s got a great head on his shoulders. He rarely does anything that is even close to jaw dropping, so I understand if people are upset about this and as i said, I’m not even sure. It’s not about forming a best 11, hypothetical, on paper team that Im talking about.. but a functioning Liverpool side.
Everyone knows the midfielder who I would replace. That said, it doesnt mean I think he’; rubbish. Infact, his stretching for that cross the last day, for the 3rd goal.. it reminded me a bit of Milner Versus Dortmund for Lovrens winner. Hendersons was technically more difficult but they both showed HEART. So Im not super quick to ship him out but there are better out there in my opinion.
i had to scroll up and remind myself what thread I was diverging on, so apologies for the hijack, it’s very boring without PL football, so if that’s a work-able excuse then nice. I will say though, there are a few Chelsea players who I would put in contention for a place and at least a sub role. Who would best be able to take over Hendersons role though? What IS his role is a more important question though. Since Fabinho came in, he’s back to being a number 8, essentially. I’m just not familiar enough with some of the Chelsea lads to make the call. When I first heard of Mount, I thought he was an 8 but he seems to be more of an inside forward or something? Pulisic is some form of attacking midfielder. Jorginho now after Sarri is what exactly? Would he be the more direct replacement for Henderson in my hypothetical?
There was something about Chelsea when we played them anyway. They had skill all across the field when on the ball. It was very impressive stuff and maybe like Klopp’s early Liverpool, maybe a little too nice. Lampards team are where they belong and they are learning all the time. They are on the path to challenge for even this seasons title. Long long time to go yet of course but that top 4 are the only teams who can play to the standard required. I’m just glad it’s not just 2. It was fun for one season but a 4 or 3 way fight would be better, as long as it ends in us finally getting over the line anyway 😉

19th November 2019 at 12:53 pm #53157I don’t think the site reflects the true strength of United’s support both in the UK and worldwide.
Chelsea’s support has grown both in the UK and worldwide on the back of being the most successful PL team over the last decade and more.

Too much of the old site on here for any kind of reasonable debate and some characters I cant stand. Its F-ing hilarious dropping onto the old site to see the same posts copy and pasted there and here, what is the point of that?
Look after yourself mate. Stevo et all, will drop back here from time to time for some banter with you lot, until the next time.

19th November 2019 at 1:10 pm #53162“3 ways Chelsea can beat Manchester City
Press, Press, Press:
Lampard has this Chelsea side working extremely hard from back to front, and the press from the likes of Kovacic and Mount has made goals out of nothing for the Blues this season.
This could be key against a City back line missing a number of their starting central defenders. If Rodri or Fernandinho are forced to play at the back again, there will be mistakes, and a high press could be extremely effective in creating opportunities.
Stay Organised at the back:
The Chelsea back line has arguably been the one weak spot this season, and even this has improved greatly as the season has progressed. However, against City, staying organized will be vital. The constant movement of their attack makes marking difficult, and players like De Bruyne can unlock any defence and will find a weak spot if there is one.
Lampard also has a big decision to make at right-back. Reece James was sublime in shutting out one of the league’s best wide men in Zaha last time out and has certainly made a claim for the right-back spot in this game. It would be a gamble, but one that could certainly pay off.
Kante:
There is no doubt that Jorginho will be a key cog if the Blues are to pull off a win, but Kante is a player who can make or break a game.
The Frenchman often saves his best performances for the big games and his incessant running will cause City’s midfield real problems. He won’t give them the time or space they so often thrive in, and a good performance from him could be the difference.
This game will not be easy, but the pressure is off for Chelsea. Many expect City to win, and arguably they should do, given their superior experience and performances last year. However, if Chelsea can pull it off, it really could be the start of something special this season.”
Fred Kirby
Good blog imo.

19th November 2019 at 1:10 pm #53163not sure i understand all the ins and outs of the issues…other than the ones ive read on here
i always find it a real shame when people do this or behave like this, no offence meant to you 442, its strange perhaps as an “outsider” to enjoy many peoples posts only for those to not like each others, if that makes sense.
ive enjoyed most of your posts 442 and hope to read some again in the future and i will delicatly add though that words posted towards 999 arent right….im sure you have your own very good reasons to you but a more balanced and friendly poster you will never find and a man who tries to play it straight, give people time and gentle reminders in his capacity as a mod here and there…..and its a very thankful task, ive tried and failed myslef i dont have the mentality or temprament to be a mod with some numpties! its one of the many reasons i have great respect for 999….its a bit like being a ref, best you can hope for is everyone behaves and you arent needed or “seen” yet when people dont behave the refs in the misddle eating shit from everyone!
its mainly chelsea and pool on here but thats no big issue for me, enough of other clubs to keep it interesting…if only we could get just a few more to broaden the chat and clubs even more, id love more posters here of all clubs and part and parcel of any online forum let alone a football one is debate, arguments and more arguments! but mostly in a good way!

19th November 2019 at 1:56 pm #53171Pat Nevin seems to endorse the blog above::
“Manchester City are like no other club in England, not only because they have some of the best players in the world, at their best they play some of the best football on the planet too. In fact their football against us last season at the Etihad was out of this world,” Nevin told the Chelsea website .
“Even so, I really feel this weekend is a good time to be facing the reigning champions, not because they are weak but because the belief within our own squad is so strong.
“Yet again Frank Lampard and the lads will know they are underdogs and upstarts against such an established outfit. Last season’s 6-0 hammering is still in the back of every supporter’s mind, but that is the case for every team that comes up against Pep’s side. They can do that if you are not careful, not organised and not at your very best defensively.
When Maurizio Sarri took us up there last season I was very concerned. I knew he would want us to stand toe-to-toe with them. I felt it might be a naive and dangerous tactic.
I can recall driving the four hours down to the game and telling my wife and son repeatedly, this could get very bad and if it is then we should all stick by the team, because that is what the travelling Chelsea fans do. They thought I was exaggerating or being negative but it was just realism.
“The question is, do I feel the same this week? Should we be wary or even scared of another thumping that might negatively affect our youngsters in particular? We have a younger side than last October and a young manager who is likely to put those lads out there with an even more open, attacking outlook than we did last season.
“That in itself suggests that naivety could once again be a concern. City are currently like a wounded animal, desperate to make amends for their mauling at Anfield two weeks ago. On top of this, the game is away from home where City only lost three games in the two previous Premier League campaigns.
“For us, this in many respects is just another test of how far we have come in such a short time. Even if we lost heavily, it would not be a disaster, it would simply show us how high the next step is.”

19th November 2019 at 4:08 pm #53175I would hate to lose Mount. people judge him because of his small body. the boy presses people like a hungry tiger. and he will force errors out of the blue. so i don’t agree with this 4-3-3 without him. on the contrary i would stay with 4-5-1 formation that includes him, Kante and Jorginho. then again i will be disappointed to lose Kovacic who i’m a massive fan. but Kante gets the team, Jorginho has these passes and he is our main penalty taker. and Mount presses better than any chelsea player. so the 3 midfielders will be Kante, Jorginho and Mount. out wide i would play Willian and Pulisic if fit, if not i would opt for Kovacic even.

19th November 2019 at 4:29 pm #53176I think we will see a good game of football, it has all the ingredients for a top game. I like the look of the Chelsea youngsters who will be well supported by Kante and Jorgihno it is then a case of how well whoever City put as a back line keeping in mind Pep does not do defensive tactics. I suspect Fernandinho will continue at CB and Rodri will be charged with doing two jobs, support the LH side and his own job leaving KDB and Silva/Gungdoghan to knit it together. Regretfully I will not be able to attend the match but I will e listening in on GMR Hope best team wins

19th November 2019 at 4:46 pm #53177Only Frank knows how he will play it but based on previous this season he has gone for Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante in midfield in the biggest games if he’s fit I expect Pulisic to start.

19th November 2019 at 5:52 pm #53181CAS hearing on the transfer ban tomorrow.
Be good to get the ban overturned but it won’t be the end of the world if it isn’t January is never an easy window to buy the players you want in and providing we are free to buy in the Summer window which we will be irrelevant of the outcome of tomorrow that will be the most important thing.

As you say it’s all about opinions and the only opinion that counts is the Lampard one. but i can’t remember Lampard dropping Mount this season.and i stated my preference there. Mount fits both sides of the argument, if we play pressing game, he is the best in doing so. and if we play quick counter attacking he is a good finisher and has the pace to run to the box. the one thing at City is that, we won’t face physical or defensive team. they will press us granted and try to force us into errors. and i hope Lampard doesn’t change the front 4 that started against Palace. Jorginho for Kovcic may be.

19th November 2019 at 8:25 pm #53199Cm, I’m not saying Mount won’t play I think he will if Pulisic doesn’t make it I just don’t think he’ll play in midfeld.
What I’m saying is that I think Frank will turn to his favoured midfield for the big games as he did v Liverpool of Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic.
If Pulisic is fit though I think he will play wide left which would leave Mount on the bench if not Mount will play wide left currently Pulisic is only 50/50 to be fit.

19th November 2019 at 9:50 pm #53221“Yeah, of course.
“When I watch them, [there is] no Hazard but it is a party”.
“They can score a lot of goals, the fans are happy, they are third in the league, it is going to be a great season”.
They just need to stay there and win games.“We all know Willian, Jorginho they are very good”.
“Also with the young players coming through, it is great to see the club high and I hope they can stay there”.
Eden Hazard
