Frank’s stint at Derby was successful but it was an easy enough initiation into the world of football management when you consider he had the likes of Mount, Timori, Ashley Cole, Marriott and Harry Wilson at his disposal yet they still missed out on promotion. Clearly he should have stayed on at Derby and tried again however it was likely that the abovementioned players would move on anyhow and he struggle there. Frank needs plenty of time learning his trade before plying it at the highest level. I think it is a fair bet that his approach to the job, clearly favouring some of the players and some decision making tactically frustrated the players and things were not right. Wish him well moving forward however Tuchel is different class and has proven it. Will Frank become as good a manager? I have my doubts. Frank the player and Frank the Manager reminds me of Zola the player and Zola the manager.

6th June 2021 at 9:26 am #180134I don’t believe Frank and Zola are not suited as top coaches, they both highly intelligent individuals where they went wrong is they pushed themselves too quickly into top clubs as managers instead of gaining valuable experience, I think Terry is on the right track gaining experience as an assistant and also where expectations are not too high. He plans to be a top manager as well but his doing it in a more sensible manner. Zola not sure he wants too anymore but especially Frank are still young enough to go that route.

6th June 2021 at 9:28 am #180135OK I just saw Zola is already 54 so maybe it’s not for him though for a manager it is still reasonably young. How time flies by.

6th June 2021 at 11:17 am #180138Time will tell with Frank. Hope he is more successful than Zola was as a manager.

6th June 2021 at 11:20 am #180139Notnice, spot on re John Terry. He’s slowly but surely plying his trade at Villa as the assistant. His progress will be interesting once he gets his first role. A bit of a larrikin though which could cause him the odd problem or two.

6th June 2021 at 11:54 am #180142Jury’s still out on Frank managerially he had a good first season with Derby and a good first season at Chelsea.
Given all the circumstances from both sides it made sense him going to Chelsea but realistically and in retrospect it was too early for him.
I hope his next appointment is the right one to give him a chance to build his way up a lower PL Club/ top Championship Club would be best for him imo only time will tell whether he’s got it in him to make a top top Manager same with JT and he needs a managerial role now somewhere probably in the Championship.

19th June 2021 at 11:45 am #180636Worryingly for Chelsea, Billy the Kid is getting a lot of press, he’s now being called the Scottish Kante, let’s hope he’s got some patience and stops at The Bridge until Kante becomes the French Gilmour…..Pagan

20th July 2021 at 3:47 pm #181872Chelsea have announced the Champions League trophy will be paraded around Stamford Bridge before their pre-season friendly against Tottenham.
The newly-crowned European champions are expecting a “near-capacity crowd” to return to Stamford Bridge for the Spurs game on August 4.
And Chelsea have confirmed they will parade the Champions League trophy in front of their fans for the first time since their triumph in Porto in May.
Thomas Tuchel’s side, who beat Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League Final last season, are taking part in a triangular pre-season tournament alongside Spurs and Arsenal.
“At the match at Stamford Bridge, the Champions League trophy will be paraded for the first time since the glorious night in Porto back in May,” Chelsea confirmed on their website.

25th July 2021 at 3:59 pm #182016Tuchel named German Manager of the Year.
Thomas Tuchel’s exploits in his first few months in charge of Chelsea have earned him the prestigious Germany Manager of the Year award from football magazine Kicker.
Voted for by a poll of German football journalists, the award has been awarded on the back of him leading the Chelsea to Champions League glory in Porto, as well as securing a top-four finish and a place in the FA Cup final.‘I accept the award very gratefully as a great honour for the entire team because I see myself as a team player,’ said Tuchel on receiving the award.
‘I don’t believe in individual awards too much, I truly believe it is a team effort, not only the players on the pitch everybody loves, but the team behind the team. I don’t do this alone. I do it with my staff, not only my German and Hungarian staff but all the people at Cobham. It’s incredible to be part of because there we have an incredible amount of quality and support.
‘Football teams can win without the coaches, but coaches cannot win without the team. It’s a reward for the team and what we did, and now let’s get on.’
Tuchel, with 129 votes, beat last year’s winner Hansi Flick of Bayern Munich by 11 votes. He earned praise from another former Bayern manager and Champions League winner Jupp Heynckes.
‘Only with this dedication could he be so successful,’ said Heynckes. ‘There are ups and downs in the coaching profession, but in the end the pendulum always strikes on the side of the person who deserves it.’

26th July 2021 at 2:20 pm #182035Crazy price for Lukaku as a back up to Haaland at that price I can’t see anything happening particularly as Inter remain reluctant sellers.
I’m sure there will be a few more names on Chelsea’s striker hit list and the Club seem mightily relaxed. Of course there’s more than one way to skin a Cat maybe we’ll look to strengthen in other attacking areas if we can’t get who we want in as a number 9.
If all else fails I would be tempted to sign Ings and retain Tammy whilst potentially strengthening elsewhere attack wise.

10th August 2021 at 10:07 am #182514If Chelsea sign Lukaku as it seems they will and then sell Tammy for circa £35m if you add that to the money they’ve already received for the fringe players then that’s almost the Lukaku fee taken care of. Good housekeeping.

10th August 2021 at 12:09 pm #182517Mak, Tammy still has to agree to the move but I think it’s a great opportunity for him.
That’s Marina for you and she’s much better looking than Michael Edwards.😊

10th August 2021 at 8:36 pm #182528“Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Tammy Abraham and are hoping to beat Roma to the signing of the out-of-favour Chelsea striker, according to the Mirror.”
Whilst I would prefer Tammy to go to Roma I can understand Arsenal being Tammy’s preferred destination not only can he remain in London but he supported Arsenal as a boy as do his family.
I can’t see Arsenal having a problem in sealing this one providing they meet the fee Roma agreed with Chelsea.
