2nd November 2017 at 8:58 am #6955Anonymousso i’ve finally come back down to earth to join everyone else. what a performance. what a man poch is! what an atmosphere. i understand that madrid havent started the season to their normal standards but when it comes to the champions league they are a different animal – it is their competition. i was impressed with the performance we put in at the bernabeu but last night was something else. every player did their job. losing toby early on didnt phase anyone. sanchez vertonghen and dier were just brilliant. kane might not have scored but he ran the show. alli and eriksen were quality. lloris was so comfortable with everything. davies and trippier were just so good going forward and defending, especially trippier. but the best player on the pitch for me was once again young harry winks. i just cant big this guy up enough. right now, he isnt filling in for dembele, he’s keeping him out the team! hes gone toe to toe with modric and kroos twice now and come out on top both times.
when the groups were drawn no one gave spurs a chance of qualifying. everyone thought we’d be in the europa league draw (myself included), but instead we have qualified from the group containing madrid and dortmund, with two games left!

2nd November 2017 at 9:13 am #6957Brilliant night, Paxo, just fooking brilliant!! Definitely buying the DVD!! 🙂
Plenty of chances at both ends but I think we fully deserved it, the only blot being Harry not getting on the score sheet (still had a great game mind you).
My house, 80th minute, the misses comes out the bedroom “How much longer does this go on for?”, before I can answer Ronny pops up with his goal, “Get back in that bedroom! Now!”… she nearly jinxed it for us but bless ‘er, she went back in and the rest is history!!
Group of Death? Not for us!! 4 from 6 against the best team in Europe? Thank you very much!!

2nd November 2017 at 10:00 am #6958Still a happy bunny but I still have to do it…. 🙂
Am I the only who noticed Englands best 50m pound RB was on the bench while Spuds “reserve” right-back was a contender for man-of-the-match? Some of the crosses Trips banged in were absolute class, he deserved more assist’s than he got last night!

2nd November 2017 at 10:30 am #6959Any truth to the rumor the Madrid players had to stand up in the plane home as their bottoms were still sore from the spanking they got? 🙂

2nd November 2017 at 12:03 pm #6960Am increasingly impressed with Pochettino, he’s building a very well balanced and, most importantly, effective side. What would still frustrate me as a Spurs fan after last night however, would be the result, as Sean said, at the weekend at OT. Yes, Kane was absent, but a team like Spurs should now be less reliant on certain individuals. I assume more money wasn’t spent in summer because of the new stadium? If so, then obviously Spurs are planning for the long term which is not necessarily a bad thing. However, Pochettino ain’t going to be around for ever (neither are Kane or Alli if they don’t win a big prize soon) and had Spurs just added one or two real world class players to their team they would be right up there as one of the teams to beat.

2nd November 2017 at 12:43 pm #6961Great night for the English clubs, though I think our night at Anfield was slightly less whelming than those at Wembley and Napoli. Congrats to the Spurs and City boys on here!
Got home in time for the highlights after the game last night and had to watch Roy Keane slag Liverpool off. Now I know our game and performance paled in comparison to City and Spurs, but we did a good solid job eventually. So for Keane to come out and say he wouldn’t watch Liverpool if they were playing in his back garden is just pathetic and insulting. We won’t win the Champions League, I know that and every Liverpool fan knows that, but last night we were without Coutinho, Mane, Clyne and Lallana all of whom would be starters if fit and available, and on our day we can play, I promise you. Keane is a knob!

2nd November 2017 at 12:55 pm #6962HH, there were some valid criticisms but Keane’s ‘bottom of the garden’ jibe was just him trying too hard to be funny and sensationalist. He does that quite a bit as a pundit for me.

2nd November 2017 at 1:14 pm #6963Mikus, I don’t really know what the valid criticisms are. We’re top of our group having outplayed the opposition in every game so far, and with nothing like a full team in any of our matches. I know we’re not firing on all cylinders yet and having had a spectacular victory like those enjoyed by City and Spurs, but we are top of our group and we also haven’t had a result like Chelsea’s the other night.
I say again, I know we won’t win it and I know our team is far from perfect but we’re doing ok. Better than our blue neighbours anyhow!!

2nd November 2017 at 1:36 pm #6964Hahaha,that twat CR7 saying goals from “offside” beat his Madrid team!.How did you win the CL last season you parasites, scoring all the goals against B.Munich from offside?!.Well done to Alli for kicking their parasitic Real arses,Spurs should won @ Bernabeu too!

2nd November 2017 at 1:41 pm #6965HH, I think the criticisms were obviously in the context of our whole season, both domestic and European, what with our inconsistencies and ongoing problems. But admittedly, Keane went a step too far and over-sensationalised them.

2nd November 2017 at 2:26 pm #6967Not wishing to take anything away from a great Spurs win but that was the worst performance that I’ve seen from a Real team in quite some time and reveals how Real ended up getting beaten by recently promoted Girona at the weekend.
Acknowledging that Real have a few injuries I can’t currently see Real getting anywhere near defending the CL or La Liga titles. The team is aging and needs investment imo.
