Brian, a football Club is only as good as its players and Manager the City squad is ageing and the big spending has stopped, Silva has gone and Pep is in his last season currently and yet to sign an extension and City have yet to make the Semi Finals in the CL.Defensively there are question marks too.
All of the above made me feel City might be coming to the end of a cycle but I hope I’m wrong because I really enjoy watching them when they’re on song..
Chelsea won the CL when they were far from at their strongest with a rookie Manager so you just never know. Bayern and Liverpool currently look very strong in Europe the other normal contenders not so strong.
Get Pep signed up to a contract extension, get Aguero fit, get Foden in the team and hope that Ake adds some defensive stability and City should be good to go again they need to be because we don’t want another one horse title race in the PL. The CL is a bit of a lottery though and difficult to predict.

17th August 2020 at 8:06 pm #153976“The FC Barcelona Board of Directors meeting has ended. For longer than three hours, board members led by president Josep Bartomeu have been discussing the necessary changes for the future of the club. As a conclusion, the board decided to sack Setién, appoint Ronald Koeman, sell a lot of players for reform in the team, and hold presidential elections in March 2021 as scheduled.
Even though fans and heavyweights in the dressing room called for ‘drastic changes’ (referring to early elections), Bartomeu did not respond: he will not resign and hold early elections, with the excuse of the Covid-19 situation. In other words, elections will be held on its scheduled time, in March 2021, and Bartomeu will be in charge until then.
Quique Setién has been sacked, as expected, and Ronald Koeman will take over. However, Barcelona has to pay a sum to bring Koeman to the Camp Nou, since he is still managing the Netherlands. The Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) has already come to an agreement with the Catalan club.”

18th August 2020 at 5:56 am #154322Lukaku finally looking like the striker I felt I was constantly defending during his time at Utd. Still, we have to question how fit he now looks. Something was clearly wrong at Utd for him to be in the shape he was in, compared to how he is now. Only ourselves to blame for not seeing the best of him.

18th August 2020 at 7:41 am #154381Don’t blame yourself, Ed! Lukaku is another of those players to completely fall out with Mourinho, and not wish or be unable to perform for him. I remember in the World Cup in Russia being hugely impressed with Lukaku. He was fit, he was fast, he could finish, and he bullied defenders, just like Drogba had done a decade before. But at United he looked the exact opposite of all those qualities, and the blame for that can only rest with Jose and the coaching staff.

18th August 2020 at 8:13 am #154401Yeah agree with that Hightown. He looks in great shape now. I think he’s behind only Lewandowski in terms of proper number 9s at the moment. Would have him ahead of Kane even. He was nowhere near that at Utd

18th August 2020 at 8:56 am #154429PS Briefly, I see Negelsmann of RB Liepzig is quoted as saying that PGs tactics were not behind City’s defeat to Lyon. Clearly just another opinion, but maybe there is something in the assertion that other factors might have had a hand in City losing the game….

18th August 2020 at 10:12 am #154475AnonymousStevo, was gutted we let him go all those years ago. He was better than what we had on our books by outscoring them when he was at West Brom and Everton. I dont think it was united, I think it was Belgium who made him bulk up and then loss of form at united. Seriously good player and Chelsea and Uniteds Loss is Inters gain.
