Nine, we have been very lucky that the front 3 and vvd have stayed fit. Origi is not A good enough backup player to come in for 2/3 months if someone injured .
Serious injury to one of the front 3 would be a huge set back
I like Shaqiri but something going on there. Heβs never fit And he might well be sold
We have some good youngsters. Elliott might be to young yet to step in for salah or mane yet. Jones is a good young player. Hopefully keita can stay fit as he is our bit of guile and imagination in midfield.
We are in good shape but things change quickly. We just need to relax

16th August 2020 at 3:44 pm #152696Mav, I think Xavi is the best appointment he knows the Club inside out be surprised though if it isn’t one of Xavi, Allegri or Poch. Pep as an outsider? π

16th August 2020 at 3:49 pm #152701Sean/Hightown…I mention 4/5 players because that is what Pep will do, however, you do not have to spend 150 million to get them, We have Foden ready to be an automatic choice next season, we have at least 2 other youngsters almost ready and should be introduced and we have already signed two
Sterling I give him A plus for work ethic, assist and he will score goals but from this point I doubt he will improve further with City and I would sell because his value is high. We know Fernandiho, Otemendi, possibly Walker, Gundogan, Cancello, Stones need to move on. Augerro will be used carefully in his last season. I expect evolution on a larger scale. probably most of this will not come true right now but by Christmas it may well do_____________________________

16th August 2020 at 3:53 pm #152704PS…I would also say City , by recent standards fell short last season, we had some tough breaks but that is the way it goes and in the end we should have done better. This is not unique to City, Liverpool, Utd Chelsea etc will go through similar cycles, you do not get it right all the time

16th August 2020 at 3:56 pm #152709Nine…Pep will not break his contract unless City agree and City have a replacement ready to take over, personally, I think Pep may look for an extension or take on a National team next step. Apart from the weather why or where would he get better support?

16th August 2020 at 3:58 pm #152713The cycle of big clubs:
1) Fresh intelligent strategy, slow and patient build up with top manager installed. New young talented players start making the first team and/or are brought in.
2) Club starts to dominate and win more and more, big trophies start coming in.
3) Manager and/or big players start to retire or leave.
4) Club starts to spend fortunes on new players to stay at the top.
5) Club continues to decline. More money thrown at new players, with a string of short lived managerial appointments.
6) Club operates in an increasingly rudderless fashion and panics. Jose Mourinho called in. Moderate success but rot continues.
7) Club brings back a still young former player to try and bring the good times back and get back to basics. Moderate success.
8) Rinse and repeat.

16th August 2020 at 4:02 pm #152718AnonymousIt’s not fair that a team that dominates a game for 75% should lose a game , I always agreed or at least explore the idea of awarding a goal to any team with a minimum of 70% possession or terroritorial advantage. It’s justice and would encourage other teams not to be so defensive making for a greater contest.

16th August 2020 at 4:11 pm #152732Mighty Moos,I can see what and why you are thinking that…always a possibility I suppose. For myself, I have stated previously, although I am a City diehard, I go to a football match to see 22 players. I enjoy watching the defensive game as well as long as it is not taken to extremes when at times we have had to watch a goalkeeper wasteing time after 5 minutes.

16th August 2020 at 4:24 pm #152748Steve..barca are in a bad position, I doubt they can even afford Garcia. They have overspent for years now everything has caught up with them, ageing players, high costs and no revenue, same goes for other clubs i suppose but it will be more difficult for a team like Barca. After City, he will be with us next season, he will go for a National team I think, why would he want the pain of starting from scratch again. According to recent remarks he has made I think he will go for a quieter life and may surprise everyone by going for a low league team with no money in some country to get the flavour of real football again. Think about it…Wealth he has, Family life he misses, Manchester weather, well lets say he will not miss it although never complains about it either, a few more rounds of golf with friends, have a game with some Seniors!!!! I would be more than surprised if Barca was even in his mind……keep with old saying….never go back to familiarity

16th August 2020 at 4:30 pm #152755I totally agree Brian
I can see him following biesla in that respect and go way down in level for the love of the game and fresh kind of challenge or maybe even just quit while youngish and enjoy life_____________________________

16th August 2020 at 4:50 pm #152773Steve…you asked who I would bring in the event of Pep going (which he is not). I would bring Arteta back or Vierra maybe. I would go for the younger end of manager.
