At least City now know what to do next match. Beat Brugges at home and they qualify simple as that and they should do. Will they win the 2 leg play off? Depends on who they get, but it’s a play off I’m sure they’d rather have avoided like Liverpool and Arsenal.
Speaking of Liverpool, didn’t realise the seeding system in the knock outs also means the top two teams from the league stage are guaranteed the 2nd leg at home all the way to the final. That’s pretty nice.

I disagree, cyber chum, last nights game between the 115 and the French 115 was the first time I’ve gone out of my way to watch a non-Spud related games this season (pity I went to bed at HT and missed all the fun, first half was awful!)…
The very last round, perhaps, have to see who’s on the bubble and who might be going home… I think it was more exciting with the groups of 4 and seeing who was out, who was “relegated” to the next one down, and who went through to the knock-out stages…
Anyway, can’t wait to see what sort of team we might be putting out tonight, might even get a spot on the bench myself if I can find me boots… π

Each “league” is seeded into 4 groups, each team plays 2 games, home and away, from each of the 4 groups, with the TOP 8 going through to the knock-out, the next 16 playing an extra round (home and away) to see who joins them… then it’s a straight 2-legged knock-out affair until the final…
But, yeah, I would agree, all a bit of “Super-League-Lite”…

If we’re thinking the nuances of a Super League, this isn’t a bad Blue Print.
All the Top Teams have been thrown in the mixer so it’s just 1 Table. It’s spread as well other domestic cup comps from the Top Flight EL have been scheduled so there’s more flexibility.
The one thing needed still is a Winter Break and we need to cut out 2 Weeks off when there’s an International Break.
