Napoli probably the best team in Europe this season so I’m not sure I agree with that Rover. If the top teams had been kept apart, people would be saying it’s a fix so it’s a better final.

It seems more or less evened out, albeit Chelsea are caught up on the wrong side of the draw (me thinks). Unfortunately, I still for them put this down to the fact that I’d have been more confident with Tuchel than Potter.

I think Napoli and Inter will progress on the other side for the Semis. If Man City beat Bayern and Real, the trophy is theirs. They’re going to need that high-press engine and certain key individuals to deliver.

Tough draw for the PL Clubs left in the competition although Chelsea have done ok v Real Madrid over the last two seasons beating them on the way to winning the Final in 2021 and losing 5-4 on aggregate last season but overall it looks like mission impossible given the semi final draw too. But then again the thrill of CL is to play against teams like Real and Bayern.

Ultimately, it’s pride and being proud the English clubs have come this far and potentially can partake in the semis. That’s definitely recognition in itself.

As long as players are conscientious and give it their best shot, that’s all you can ask for.

Patience however is tested when players think they can casually turn up and not properly apply themselves. And you can’t focus on just one part of the pitch to bail you out. There are reasons why these teams are where they are and they have quality, but ultimately professionalism in their attitude and approach.

One of the best performances I’ve seen all season from the Blue of Manchester. Perfect Blueprint. I am so impressed by this new formation that’s bringing out the best in more than one individual. What has happened to John Stones? Moved in midfield and completely different gravy.

Akanji and Rodri unsung heroes. System reinvented, but not all about Haaland.

3-0 and looks like a Semi-final place.

Yeah you’d have to fancy City to win it from here. Madrid are not the side of recent seasons. Napoli is the side who could potentially cause City problems but even there, you’d fancy City. No pressure at all on Chelsea tonight as nobody really expects them to do anything. On the other hand, they’re the side who probably need the CL win more than any other as it’s their only route back into the competition next season.

I do like BT Sport and Darren Fletcher, but a little bit of an oversight for me in only crediting Ruben Diaz, when beyond one of the obvious standouts in Rodri, Akanji and Ake collectively overall kept the door shut on the other side.

It’s not just this game but all season for me, Akanji really has stepped up for somebody thrown straight into the deep end. Pep himself acknowledged him in his post-match conference.

Thomas Tuchel post match interview last night “that was not a 3-0 match…..”
Absolutely spot on Tommy, if it hadn’t been for 3/4 excellent saves by your ‘keeper, it would have been 5/6-0.
Wonderful performance and deserved result for City – not over yet though but 3-0 ‘half time’ lead is more than useful.
