Mav, tbh I would have taken 1-1 before the game started but was disappointed with the draw particularly as we hit the post twice but we’re still in it and after Bournemouth and Watford all Chelsea fans will be delighted with the fact that we go to the Camp Nou still in the tie.
It doesn’t change the fact that it’s going to be a massive ask and that Barca areΒ obvious favourites but had Barca repeated the Bournemouth scoreline or the Watford scoreline it wouldn’t have been worth putting the players on the plane to Barcelona.?

21st February 2018 at 2:34 pm #16174Anonymousalfie – the chelsea fans on here are very precious. they get all riled up and write their responses but then put a smiley face at the end to make it look like theyre just kidding when you know they are deadly serious. 999 questioning the authenticity of Opta, probably the most used sports statistics company in the world is laughable but it Opta disagree with him so he has to question their integrity rather than accept hes wrong. surprised it wasnt followed up with ‘its funny old game saint’

21st February 2018 at 2:46 pm #16178Paxton, not precious, but players have different skill sets, Kane is a fantastic player, particularly in the box and with one on ones. Why? because he works hard at it, Willian is good at those shots from outside the box, why? because he works at it, Lampard said after the game he scores those type of goals all the the time in practice.
So in short, you have to take into consideration the player to determine what is an opportunity to score….Pagan_____________________________

21st February 2018 at 2:51 pm #16179Paxton, don’t be silly I’m not riled up there are much more important things in life than football take a trip to an Oncology Hospital if you want confirmation of that.
There’s nothing to get precious about Willian had three quality shots on goal last night from outside the box 2 hit the post and one was a goal those are the facts mate no matter how Opta classify it and shots like those three from Willian get fans off their seats no matter what Opta may or may not say.
I’m not questioning the authenticity ofΒ Opta obviously there are more goals scored from inside the box than from outside the box but a shot from outside the box especially one as good as Willian’s yesterday which flew into the goal has to be aΒ chance when it ends in aΒ goalΒ in my book whatever Opta might say.
If you Opta and others don’t see it like that that’s fine but it’s all history now anyway and not worth falling out about.

21st February 2018 at 5:09 pm #16185Cm, I said to nine, Chelsea would go through. You lot are very strong at the back. The tactics were perfect until one mistake.
Chelsea played like the away team but they were still a threat on the break. Tie us very much still on. It was a very good performance. Barca can be got at.

21st February 2018 at 5:12 pm #16186AnonymousPaxton – tell me about it mate. Laughable really. Expected better.
To take the time to find out the definition of the discussion point, only to be mocked and (I assume deliberately) misquoted is pathetic, but I will know for next time.

21st February 2018 at 5:30 pm #16187Alfie, you may put a great deal of faith in statistics, but football isnβt played on paper itβs played on grass, and as the Great Brian Clough said when asked whether he would have been a better manager had he had access to the statistical information about teams and individuals they had now, he replied βweβve always had it, only in my day we called it our eyesβ
Anyway hereβs two stats for you
33% of fatal car accidents are caused by drunk drivers, therefore itβs safer to drive drunk than drive sober.
96% of statistics are made up
There are lies, damn lies and statistics
seriously Β though, the data collected is done with certain parameters, and doesnβt take into consideration players with specialist talents as everything has to be judged against some form of control sample.
As far as stats go, Iβm with Brian

21st February 2018 at 6:24 pm #16188AnonymousThis is like pulling teeth!
pagan, my faith in statistics is not the point, Paxton mentioned clear cut chances as reported by Sky. Some did not know what that meant. I explained. No need to get upset.
For a non-statistical review – Barca came, Chelsea parked the bus. Barca controlled the match, you tried to hit them on the counter, it ended in a draw.

21st February 2018 at 6:43 pm #16189Tell me which English team plays Barcelona and dominates the possession? United played two finals which one was at Wembley and we know how that has gone. we will never match them in possession, and you can’t beat Barcelona in their own game. the same with City and Arsenal. some here are talking as if their clubs have out played Barcelona before. we know Barcelona’s record at the PL clubs. even the great Real Madrid goes on the defence when they are facing them. even Pep has to ditch his favoured possession game to beat them. that is the only way you can beat Barcelona.

chelsea man – stop being so silly, all that has been said is how Opta classifies a clear cut chance! Pick your toys up pal.

21st February 2018 at 7:14 pm #16197Thoughts from last night from Nil:
“I honestly thought Chelsea gave a good account of themselves and did actually have them down to beat Barca in my acca at 11/5, if not covered with a draw, at exact odds, 11/5. I honestly can’t fathom the how Willian’s efforts have been dismissed the way they have. Surely if you’re a Striker or an attacking player, there will be times where your attempts are either foiled by the keeper, completely wide off the mark or striking the woodwork. If anything, those attempts were on the back of genuine poise of pressure from the home side.
There’s one thing I’ve picked up from recent years is that Barca simply are not what they used to be to me, Chelsea stood up them even though they did implement spells of play where they knew they really had to be disciplined keeping it tight at the back. There is nothing negative about that at all and if anything, I would praise that approach of play.
The tie is well and truly alive and the Blues should go into Spain with the belief that they can edge past.”

21st February 2018 at 7:15 pm #16198Alfie, thatβs a fair summary, Barca had way more ball and played it around, Chelsea defended well on the whole and limited their opportunities, and as in all things you get what you deserve and the game ended a draw….Pagan
