Mike, no worries buddie and we both agreed that the CL Final should have been staged at Wembley anyway.😊
I really enjoy your posts and you’ve been a real asset to the site since you started posting on here keep em coming. Cheers 9’s

Brian, fully agree about not expecting to win; my lad is 20 and whenever we lose I have to remind him how bad we were in the dark days. I remember being at Maine Road for the first home game in division 3 against Blackpool, we won 3-0 (I think) and one of my mates said ‘well that’s us 3 points clear of relegation’ 😂🤣😂. It’s the kind of humour the younger generation of fans need to learn and wouldn’t go amiss at a few other clubs._____________________________

17th May 2021 at 10:26 am #179237Bad weekend for Chelsea
Losing FA cup and CL women’s final … could it be 3 soon or will the men’s team win it?
Still only Arsenal ladies with the quadruple 😁_____________________________

17th May 2021 at 1:34 pm #179238Yep Stevo it wasn’t our day on Saturday for all sorts of reasons but someone’s got to lose on the day.
I wouldn’t even put any of your money on Chelsea winning the CL Final let alone my money just hope we can put in a decent performance and see where it takes us it looks like an odds on City victory but look what happened in 2005 and 2012 so you just never know for sure.😊
First things first though Chelsea need to try and take the points needed to take us back into the CL on Tuesday night v Leicester 10,000 Chelsea fans at the Bridge might help.
I think Chelsea under Tuchel deserve to end up with something at the end of the season but I would say that but if the worst comes to the worst we’ll have to give winning the EL our best shot.
Shame for the Ladies but they’ve won plenty this season and I’m sure they will be back nice to hear that Roman was there and joined the players in the dressing room afterwards.

17th May 2021 at 4:30 pm #179241You are right Mike, probably a good percentage of City fans who attend games will have felt same way.I would have been at that game but cannot remember the score or the team. I started saving programmes, stopped, started again then stopped. I have a few left but mostly of more recent times. There is a football site you can go on that gives the input, must look it up

17th May 2021 at 4:35 pm #179242Nine…Chelsea will be well up for the CL game.I think City will spring a surprise selection for this game and it will be close. We need a good Ref and I am not sure about that. I do not want any cards, sending off for either side and the Ref noticed throughout the game…the reality maybe different Plus VAR hopefully gets everything right

24th May 2021 at 5:16 pm #179631“Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he “could not care less” over the choice of referee for Saturday’s Champions League Final against Chelsea as he prepares for a reunion with Antonio Mateu Lahoz.
Mateu Lahoz has history with Guardiola after sending him off during City’s Champions League defeat by Liverpool in 2018.
Leroy Sane thought he had scored during the second leg of the quarter-final tie at Etihad Stadium, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Guardiola remonstrated with Mateu Lahoz and his fellow officials on the pitch at half-time and was forced to watch the second 45 minutes from the stands.
The City boss said after the match, which Liverpool won, that Mateu Lahoz was “a referee who likes to feel different, he’s special”.
The pair are now set for a reunion on Saturday as Mateu Lahoz has been appointed as the referee for the 2021 Champions League Final in Porto.
Asked if he has spoken to him since that Liverpool match, Guardiola replied: “No.”
Then asked if it was something he can’t allow himself to worry about before the game, Guardiola said: “Not one second.
“I could not care less. I am so confident in my team. You cannot imagine how confident I am in my team and what we have to do.”
Spanish official Mateu Lahoz has been refereeing since 2011, but this will be his first Champions League Final.
He was the fourth official during the 2019 final between Tottenham and Liverpool in Madrid, while he has officiated at six matches in the Champions League this season, including the quarter-final first leg between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Mateu Lahoz has also been selected as one of the referees for this summer’s rescheduled European Championship.” Standard 24/05

25th May 2021 at 1:15 pm #179646Just a correction to the text 9’s. Leroy Sane wasn’t offside, it was a good goal incorrectly disallowed by that referee. Let’s hope we get fair refereeing this time round 😉

25th May 2021 at 2:18 pm #179653Mike, it was an extract from the Standard mate hence the quotation marks, rightly or wrongly the goal was ruled out for being offside but offside or not it obviously created a problem between Guardiola and Lahoz as both saw it differently and the Standard were seemingly trying to explain how that problem occured. Cheers 9’s

26th May 2021 at 10:57 am #179673Hey 9’s, yeah I get you copied the article for us, I’ve not lost all my marbles…yet 😂. I’m still hoping the ref does a better job this time round; his team also disallowed City a goal in the closing stages of the first leg of that Liverpool tie for offside which was borderline. We never seemed to have any joy from refereeing decisions in Europe before this season when Dortmund definitely should have had a goal for Bellingham, maybe this season we will get the rub of the green but hopefully it won’t be needed 😉. Fingers crossed for no controversy whatsoever in the final 🤞

26th May 2021 at 11:36 am #179677Mike, just wanted to make sure you didn’t think it was me making the claim mate that’s all. Obviously I don’t remember the game in the same detail as you do but if my memory serves me correctly not a lot went your way.
A Catalan and a Spaniard are not a good mix they don’t like each other for reasons much deeper than football I’m hoping the Ref still carries a grudge and gives us everything.😊
I suspect we are going to need all the help we can get.Cheers 9’s

26th May 2021 at 3:02 pm #179679“You never like to see players miss out on a major final, especially when there’s no guarantee that they’ll get a chance to play in another one.
Edouard Mendy has had a brilliant season and his story is incredible when you consider how quickly he’s risen from lower-league French football to being the number one for Chelsea.
Unfortunately, he did pick up a nasty rib injury on the final day of the Premier League season against Aston Villa, but there were reports that he could be back in training today if he continued to recover quickly.
Ultimately it looks like he will be fit to play in the final as he was spotted in training today, while there was further good news with N’Golo Kante also being fit enough to take part.” Caught Offside 26/05
Just hope so fingers crossed for both of them.🤞🤞🤞
