Just to clarify none of the Chelsea lads on here are saying Chelsea will win the PL next season all we are saying is that given where we are the squad strengths and the current Manager we have if we can sign the 2/3 players Tuchel wants in the Summer strengthening where he thinks we need strengthening with the owner seemingly onside with his views and prepared to back him then we think there’s a real chance of us putting in a title challenge in the forthcoming season.
Why that view following Chelsea winning the CL has caused so many responses only you guys know especially when the majority of replies seem to agree with the above.π

2nd June 2021 at 4:18 pm #179987Personally I think Levy and Conte are a recipe for disaster and I can only see them falling out which is what’s happened wherever Conte has managed.
But short term if Conte gets some backing from Levy I can see him having an impact.
Poch could be a little bit of bother now with the Real Madrid job gone and Conte seemingly on the brink of taking over at Spurs with Poch having told PSG he wanted to leave seemingly to join Spurs?

2nd June 2021 at 4:47 pm #179991Nine..we may not always agree but we will never fall out over a football subject. It is not limited attacking but just that whoever they were did not do enough. As to a goalscorer. well you do not want to become a Harry Kane team. It did not get Spurs as a challenger. I do not like the idea of a one man show in the team, I think Tuchel is more like Pep and thinks collective. In saying your forwards did not do enough is not to say they cannot improve next season under Tuchel

2nd June 2021 at 4:56 pm #179992Nine I won’t believe conte to spurs until I see it. Like you I feel it is a marriage made in hell if it happens because all evidence to date under levy suggests conte will not get anywhere near what is required to compete, and if conte can’t compete conte will go crazy, as sure as night turns to day.
Give him a top starting 11 and allow him to dismiss the euro conference league though and he can certainly get spurs top 4 if they have a good eleven that can play week in week out. They will be a nightmare to play under conte that’s for sure.

2nd June 2021 at 5:25 pm #179995Brian, agreed buddie you and I will never fall out over football.
I will give you just one example buddie to try and demonstrate our problems are scoring goals rather than lacking attacking ability.
Versus Arsenal at the Bridge with a squad side.
Chelsea had 62% possession, 19 shots to Arsenal’s 5, 9 corners to Arsenal’s 1.
We’re missing a striker Brian. I would take Harry Kane in a heartbeat because he would solve that problem but there’s little to no chance of that happening imo and worryingly there are very few options.

2nd June 2021 at 5:49 pm #179996So really we are saying conte is no fit for any club lads as he falls out with every board. Thatβs the truth and also levy rules the roost over all managers so spurs need a yes man????
Spurs need someon to rule with an iron fist.
He would turn spurs into a resolute side. What better options have spurs got? Heβs a manager with huge pedigree who stands for no bullshit. Iβd go all out to get Rodgers but conte is a proven winner and heβs availableProblem with levy and Jose was…..jose and playing Shite football

2nd June 2021 at 6:00 pm #179997Sean, to the contrary, why ole is getting an extension and conte is not already utd manager is a joke, he perfect for them. If levy gives him the team he wants he perfect for spurs too.

2nd June 2021 at 6:02 pm #179998But what are the chances of levy backing him with 200m plus any proceeds from kane sale? That’s probably what conte would demand and probably what is needed as minimum for spurs to compete

2nd June 2021 at 6:12 pm #179999Mourinho to Conte would be like going from the frying pan into the fire. It’s as though Levy is overcompensating the disappointment in recent years by appointing big name managers without thinking it all out. Bit like when England appointed Sven.

2nd June 2021 at 7:42 pm #180002I think Conte would be a bit like Mourinho at Utd. Would probably win a trophy or two, play defensive football and buy older players. It would be going backwards for Utd. At Utd, bringing players through the academy is really important, too. I don’t think Conte has a great track record in that regard.
I think he’s much more suited to Spurs who are desperate for a trophy, any trophy. Utd have done the quick success route with Mourinho and they’ve since invested a lot of resources into building up the academy again and signing lots of top young talent. Conte doesn’t really fit in with that.
Hence why I still wouldn’t sack Ole. Absolutely no point until there’s an obvious replacement. Same applied to Liverpool when Klopp was under pressure. Who would they have got in? Rafa again? It’s one thing if you start plummeting down the table or lose the dressing room but as long as you’re making steady progress like Ole is, there’s really no point sacking him. Utd just don’t work like that.

2nd June 2021 at 8:05 pm #180003True enough Ed historically Conte is a short term Manager that rarely goes past 3 years.
I wouldn’t discount Conte’s ability in the short term and he might well win Spurs a trophy but he’s a counter attack Manager which is not the profile that Spurs were allegedly looking for.
Given Conte’s history and Levy’s history I can see problems from year two which is the consistent pattern of Conte’s career.

2nd June 2021 at 8:05 pm #180004Ye valid points on conte Ed. The amount of players over 30 he signed for inter was crazy. I just think he would bring instant success to most clubs .
Klopp can never be replaced for me. Absolutely nobody out there I would take ahead if Klopp including Pep etc
Liverpool would never have sacked Klopp this season even if they finished 17th.

2nd June 2021 at 8:55 pm #180006Nine/Lucky,
that’s the key Gents to try and build something from your success. There is hope and potential. It’s essentially thinking broadly about the challenges faced and what plans are in place and the steps needed moving forward;
Hold on to what you have and be Proud.
Cheers

3rd June 2021 at 1:42 pm #180013“As I said this morning, and on the Podcast a couple weeks back, Chelsea are set to open negotiations with Armando Broja over a new contract, with Thomas Tuchel considering including him in the first team next season.” Simon Phillips
Nice to see Tuchel is looking wider than just the transfer market to strengthen the squad for next Season.
Chelsea have a very successful Academy with 3 Academy players in the CL winning side on Saturday and more exciting youngsters coming through including Livramento a very promising pacy young right sided player who can play right wing back as well as further forward.
