MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) – Police are investigating an attack on the home of Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward by people in hoods.
A video posted on social media showed the group gathered outside the house in Cheshire chanting threats towards Woodward and throwing red flares over the gate. British media reported that neither Woodward, 48, nor his family were home.
“At around 10.45pm on Tuesday 28 January, Cheshire police were notified of an incident of criminal damage that had taken place earlier this evening with a large group targeting a property in the Nether Peover area,” Cheshire Constabulary said in a statement.
“Thankfully no-one was harmed, and officers will liaise with security officials over the coming days to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and identify those involved”.

29th January 2020 at 10:08 am #63645In my opinion, this is a step too far. you can’t go and destroy people’s property in the name of football. yes football has passion but this is more than passion, this is hooliganism. i hope Woodward and his family are strong enough to cope with this kind of things. it will be scary for any family to live under threat and football shouldn’t be the dividing factor, it should he the uniting factor

Shame on the scum involved. Forget the shirt they might be wearing.

29th January 2020 at 10:22 am #63665It’s a handful of idiots that most likely have serve behavioral problems and/or criminal instincts that use football as an excuse to act that way. Football is passionate but for the vast majority of us we don’t feel the need for violence or hooliganism, we know how to act, but sadly for us these people football is often the spark that ignites their behavior. Never understood it to be honest, there’s far more important things than football to get that upset about.
Just hope they get caught and get everything they deserve.
