“threeps, I was just outlining Liverpoolβs alternatives. I still think they could have left a number of Senior squad players behind like and still beaten Monterrey comfortably with what will be their first team anyway.
The choice Liverpool made was probably the right choice for Liverpool firstly there will be 3 very strong sides they would have drawn in the Semi Finals of the League Cup so nothing was guaranteed and understandably Liverpool want to win the World Club Championship as they havenβt won it before and it will get a lot more difficult to win from next Season under the new rules.”
Nine think you posted on the wrong thread so I will answer here.
Yes they could of done that but it would jeopardise the WCC. There’s no real way to define how good or not Monterrey are but to give an indication Transfermarkt values their squad at 84m, pretty much the same as WBA. So could a WBA quality team give LFC a difficult game, baring in mind they are more acclimatized having been out there a week already? I would think so, although Liverpool are rightfully strong favorites.

18th December 2019 at 10:50 am #56945threeps, ha, ha, I did it from my phone there’s always a chance of a mishap there.?
All three alternatives weren’t quite right and I am understand Liverpool’s focus on the WCC they have never won it and it will be more difficult to win from next season.
As I said I think Liverpool will stroll past Monterrey and into the Final but they still probably took the right decision another game for the first team squad post Christmas followed probably by another two games and a difficult two legged Semi Final would have been unhelpful to Liverpool as they chase down the title.

18th December 2019 at 2:21 pm #56950Serious Questions for Pool fans, if you dont win the WCC for some reason would you be pissed off that you also are out of the Carabao? or would it make no odds, if you get the worse luck at the worse time, this competition (even if you win it) could de rail more than just the league cup…..but i suppose thats what winning does and other cluybs around Europe have coped….
i worry if you dont win it though

18th December 2019 at 3:10 pm #56958Stevo,Flamengo will be more of a challenge for Liverpool in the Final than Monterrey will be imo but I still expect Liverpool to be too good for Flamengo.

18th December 2019 at 3:59 pm #56960Not really stevo. Iβll be disappointed if we donβt win the wcc. Iβm not really bothered about the league cup simply because everythingβs is about the league this season.
I really want to win the wcc as we have never won it but I really hope it doesnβt disrupt the league. I donβt think we will win it as easily as people think.
Itβs a tough really mate but all these games means we are doing well

Looking at that team I think 17/1 are good odds!

18th December 2019 at 4:26 pm #56963Or does that team demonstrate the strength of Monterrey?
I can’t ever remember any team having odds as long as 17/1 in a two horse race.
Be a massive suprise even with the team announced if Liverpool still don’t win this game comfortably but One nil will do them.?

18th December 2019 at 4:36 pm #56964Van Dijk is sick. Could be a bug or something. Henderson is supposedly going to be centre-half. Lovren and Matip still out.

18th December 2019 at 6:25 pm #56965Just using this thread for the Monterrey game. They remind me surprise surprise of Napoli!
I missed the goals thinking kick off was at 6 – doh!!! I was wrapped in my wonderful new Vacuum Cleaner and got my Carpets Hoovered π
Team selection’s pretty cool. It is what it is and I hope we wear them down and do enough to get over the line.

18th December 2019 at 6:37 pm #56966Liverpool only playing in flashes I think they will need to bring TAA, Firmino and Mane on to ensure the win.
