I agree with Chelsea.man – SAF was wasily worth a handfull of points at least just being SAF. And Adlab is spot on too. United spend money. It’s just on the wrong players. Not necessarily because they were the wrong kind of players, but because they were too old. Matic comes to mind. We need to buy younger players to actually be able to build a squad that can afford the time to gel before they’re too old.
United also tend to keep the wrong players too long. Jones and Lingard, just to name two. Young should ahve gone a long time ago as well. A winger in his midthirties as left back for how long? Surely a club like United should do better than that?I don’t like City because of their owners. Never will. But there’s no denying they have brought in players and staff members in a much wiser way than United for years now. That’s why they are so far ahead. United need to define a clear club philosophy just like Ajax or Barcelona and then hire a new manager that fits the bill and then keep doing that for years to come. Make the youth teams play the same system too. It’ll take time, but in the long run I think that’s how it should be done.

8th January 2020 at 9:00 am #58002I donβt even think utds 3 new signings have been great
James has done well at times. Heβs a bit raw but with the right coaching and become very good
Maguire has been disappointing and had no idea how to defend when pulled out wide
Awb is a very good defender. Be a great centre back but heβs not a modern day full back and is poor going forwarc

8th January 2020 at 9:02 am #58003United was once an example of a well run club during the Fergie era. now they are the opposite of that. the issue isn’t how much you have spent, the issue is how wise have you spent. Liverpool is a prime example of a well run club. when they spent, they spent wisely and where they needed to spend. and the result is they are the best team in the league now. City has been also an example of a well run club. but sadly since David Gill and Fergie has left United, it has been a poorly run club.
Several clubs are now moving away from out spending strategy to one for the better organization. United spent and not with what they needed. unless they let this guy Ole rebuild the team and write off this season, short term fix won’t work for them. this guy is rebuilding, he has rebuilt, their defence already with a RB and a CB. he is trying toget the best out of Fred and he is getting much from now than Mourinho got from him. if he gets a striker, a proper winger and a creative no 10, he will be up there with others.

8th January 2020 at 10:05 am #58008Good reaction from United in the second half and Matic improved them so what do I know.?
Credit to Ole for the second half performance few sides would have lived with City’s first half display last night.
The goal gives United a bit of hope going into the second leg but it’s difficult to see past City for the Final.
I get where Chelseaman is coming from but I also understand the uncertainty of the United fans re Ole.
Tough call for the Board in the Summer stick or twist?

8th January 2020 at 3:11 pm #58049Stevo, really? Nah you’re all to smart not to join up the dots surely?
I predicted Man City v Leicester City coming through from the Semi Finals hence my “Tale of two Cities ?” ie would it end as a tale of two Cities?
I was just trying to make the thread title a bit more interesting than Carabo Cup Semi Finals.?

8th January 2020 at 8:06 pm #58073I think Utd will stay with Ole until the end of the season. There is no likely successor around…..Pelligrini, Alladyce, who????? Utd did improve in the second half but improve on what? It would be hard not to improve on the first half. It appeared to me they just hoped for breakaway goals, where is the real Utd. Walker stated City were saving there legs, if I was Pep I would be annoyed about that because if anybody wanted a rest there were capable subs on the bench that would have driven us on not rested legs. Fernandinho was outstanding and for his age he was simply amazing. Sterling needs a rest for a couple of games. Pleased that Bernado has found his mojo again, although he has not been playing badly, now , he is back to his best. Still not convinced about Mendy but he has improved a little.

8th January 2020 at 8:30 pm #58086Just turned this Boring Rubbish off my screen. Shame and lame that there aren’t any other decent Football Matches to watch on T.V. on a Wednesday Night. Rodgers is so obvious in trying to play Patient Tika-Taka and use Vardy as the ‘last man’.
Wishful think to hope Villa get anything out of the game, but Leicester will eventually win like 2 or 3 Nil – hope I’m wrong.
Pile of Rubbish.
