I’ll say it another way, Van Dijk is back to being THE best. His best? That needs the rest fo the seasons to determine, maybe more.
Didnt see the first half, so I didn’t see the mistakes that he made. I don’t agree with people outside of this game though. “Mistake in him” kind of player? No this isn’t what I’d associate with him one bit.
Best defense in the PL without playing at all defensively;ly. That has to come from somewhere.Yes we do still have an issue with goal scoring, even though we score loads but we know the amount of times the ball goes nowhere.

24th January 2024 at 9:45 pm #212146Yep, paying the price for not putting the game to bed a lot earlier. Without having Jota on for much of the game, we lack composure up top. It’s all been a bit too rushed.

24th January 2024 at 10:07 pm #212147Why does Sturridge act like a bad boy using the word ‘gassed’. Get some proper Pundits in FFS. Had to be one of the worse games watched. Spirit down and Fulham made sure of that!!!
Need digesting time for sure. The fouls oh my god; these London clubs are sure up for fouling and putting our players to injury; On Jota prime example.
Horrible Fulham.

24th January 2024 at 10:23 pm #212149I don’t blame Van Dijk. It’s just Fulham and Marco Silva/Fulham fans chose to just DULL IN ANTI FOOTBALL; BULLY!
This is why I wanted Alisson because of his Leadership and quite Simply a Living Legend and Respected. Absolute no Reflection on Kelleher.
You know what, we didn’t really have to as such bust a gut; our Midfielders and Attack though put in so many miles on the clock and didn’t get their rewards and that’s what I’m frustrated about. Fouls when we have already a long list of injuries. That’s not helping.
Sorry for my mood and bad spirits. I just wanted to enjoy this better; not sure what happened with our away fans.
Something just not quite there tonight irrespective of our goal scored first.

24th January 2024 at 10:23 pm #212150That’s probably just how Sturridge speaks. I’ve heard positive things about Sturridge and his punditry, you’re the first person I’ve seen who doesn’t like him punditry-wise.

24th January 2024 at 10:53 pm #212151I will say something on Kelleher. I say this as a fellow Corkman, so I want him to be a success more than most, but I don’t think he’s progressing at all.
I wonder if the lack of first-team football is stunting his development.
We haven’t seen as much of him as in previous seasons (I think), or at least it seems that way but when we do see him, I just don’t think he’s quite as good as the keeper who helped us win the cups.I think we’ll sell him at the end of the season but if we don’t then we really have to loan him out to a team that will start him in every league match.
Sean, ya I don’t get the VVD stuff either but it is interesting to hear what I would consider to be kinda “shocking” opinions. I guess maybe we’ve to keep an eye out but in this case, I really don’t think I’m going to suddenly be feeling this nervousness that others are getting from him.
I do subscribe to the idea that our attack isn’t quite right though.
Can I make note of Carraghers insane comment that Jota is the most natural goal scorer that we’ve had in the PL era? I only saw the heading and subheading. I refused to read further out of disgust for such an opinion. I mean, he really is an embarrassment, as a pundit. I haven’t heard Sturridge but I wouldn’t at all be bothered by someone saying the word “gassed”, as it is terminology that is used in fitness. AFAIK it’s most prevalent in boxing/MMA, and maybe Daniel is big into that scene.Jota is a natural goal-scorer and he’s exactly what we need, sometimes. I don’t think his game is well-rounded enough, or that he’s consistent enough to ever be mentioned in the same breath as some of the legends that we’ve had in the PL era. I mean, to say that Jota is a more natural goal scorer than Fowler is nothing short of criminally stupid. He even played with him FFS.
In the summer, I think we’ve got to go and get a world class striker. The lads have until then to show that they are up to it of course. what we need is someone who can reasonably consistently put them away. We create so many chances. We should be doing better with them.
Back to tonight though. We’re through to the final. It wasn’t the greatest match ever but we’re one step closer to another cup. No injuries… all good.

25th January 2024 at 10:20 am #212154Once taken the emotion and red specs out, you have to give Fulham credit. They weren’t just gonna roll over for us. I think their supporters played a massive part in not giving Liverpool any hospitality what so ever.
We’re through to the final overall so in actual fact we should be feeling a bit more spirited and of wellbeing.
Changes from Sunday really was having no Konate, Alisson, Jones and Jota starting. Not always easy to try and keep the momentum going, but we gotta be ready. The squad is forced to be utilized the way it is because of trying to manage multi-competitions and injuries.
Jota is fantastic, I am a massive fan of his.
No, I don’t like Sky coverage as such; it’s swaying a little into an entertainment show, and that’s not what it’s about. I didn’t fancy a 2022 meet up with Chelsea again, but it is what it is, though many would give their arm and leg to be in the position we are. For a Liverpool 2.0, it’s been a fantastic journey.
Be Thankful and Grateful.

25th January 2024 at 10:22 am #212155M wake, I wasn’t disputing that at all re Sturridge. He is a top guy and a top servant for us. His use of word just caught me by surprise – just found it streetwise and thinking to myself what direction Sky are going in. Maybe it’s changing since the days of Keys and Gray.
