Just to be clear, it was Mak not me who was quoted about saying the cup wouldn’t save Ole.

23rd September 2021 at 12:04 pm #185558Ah my bad Mikus. I’ve made that mistake before after a quick glance at the poster name and the lack of profile picture

23rd September 2021 at 12:13 pm #185559No worries Ed, just didn’t want to steal Mak’s praise.
What are you thoughts on Sancho so far? Few United fans I’ve spoken to a bit frustrated with him. But it’s obviously very early days. Problem nowadays is if you don’t immediately hit the ground running, questions quickly get asked.

23rd September 2021 at 12:23 pm #185560Yeah very underwhelming start by Sancho so far but I’m not too concerned. He had a slow start last season and, despite him being English, he’s obviously new to this league and still very young. I think it will help him that Ronaldo took some of the limelight away from his move and he can adapt without the spotlight on him a the star summer signing.
If he does flop though, which I don’t think he will, teams will be seriously starting to question the act of judging players on their performances in the Bundesliga. Mkhitaryan, Werner, Havertz (to a degree), Kagawa to name just a few over the years who have found that transition quite challenging.

23rd September 2021 at 12:53 pm #185561Havertz is going to be some player imo Ed and he’s already scored the winning goal in the CL Final and the The match going fans have taken him to their hearts and love him hence the song below which is sung everywhere Chelsea fans go.
“Ooh Roman do you know what’s that’s worth
Kai Havertz is the best on earth
The silky German is just what we need.
He won Chelsea the Champions League” π

23rd September 2021 at 1:15 pm #185564Havertz is the one player I would have Liverpool signing. What a header he scored against us. He’s adjusted well and I’m sure he’ll grow to be even better.

23rd September 2021 at 1:22 pm #185566I get you nine he will go down in Chelsea folklore but still I agree with Ed. Heβs done ok in my opinion but heβs very young and had all the attributes to be special player

23rd September 2021 at 1:55 pm #185568Sean, Havertz has got a great skill set and he’s really sparkled at times, the match going fans love him now and he’s getting great support from them.
I get that Β£70m raises expectations but sometimes we expect too much from a player who is new to the PL and the country and who suffered badly from Covid last season.
The Chelsea fans believe in Havertz and in the overall scheme of things that’s the most important thing. He’s still got lots of room to grow much further though imo. Cheers 9’s

23rd September 2021 at 2:28 pm #185570No way writing him off nine mate. He clearly has talent but he can certainly get so much better. Scoring more goals in the pl etc. I think he will be a huge Ayer in the next few years.

23rd September 2021 at 4:19 pm #185574Nine, yeah I wasn’t really having a dig at Havertz. I think he’ll turn out to be a very good signing for Chelsea. Just as I think Sancho will for us. I was merely making the point that all those players came with huge expectations after excelling over in Germany but have yet to (or didn’t) really live up to those high expectations. Whilst he obviously scored a huge goal for Chelsea, I’m talking more about his overall performance levels since coming in.

23rd September 2021 at 5:26 pm #185579Anonymous“Sean, I would love us to win it mate. Itβs been nearly 10 years.
Pep treats this comp seriously hence why they been consistently winning it.”
Me too Nil but it’s a luxury that pep can easily afford. In fact, I’d say that he has problems if they go out of it because it then becomes more difficult to keep players happy.
Klopp doesn’t want to be forced into rotation for any other reason other than fitness. I usually agree with this but I think he’s way too quick to throw away the domestic cups. Honestly, it’s like he’s throwing them sometimes.
I would like us to win them but not over PL and CL. If they have even a 10% chance of impacting the race for either, then you’ve got top play the kids and hope they gain something from it. We have quite a few players who need the minutes, so I guess we can only hope they have a few more rounds in them.

Ha the funny thing is, I read your correction and then went back wondering what horrible disagreements awaited my opinion! π
“Havertz is the one player I would have Liverpool signing. What a header he scored against us. Heβs adjusted well and Iβm sure heβll grow to be even better.”
I’d take a few Chelsea players now TBH
Lukaku, Havertz, Pulisic.
I’d say kante except I wouldnt replace Fabinho for anyone. The other 3 would would be amazing acquisitions. Dont ask me how Id fit them into the team but Klopp would manage something π

23rd September 2021 at 5:59 pm #185581You can generally see why the big clubs like to wait for a smaller club to take a punt on a player from another league and see how they do in the premier league, before then going for them, albeit at a much higher price. But such is the competition now, big clubs are going directly to the source of these players abroad. But the results can then be mixed.

23rd September 2021 at 6:26 pm #185582AnonymousPundits want Solsjkaer to be like Thomas Tuchel, who comes out and is honest, like when Saul was taken off at half-time, but he [Solskjaer] gives these politically boring answers. Tuchel has admitted he made an error in bringing in Saul, but Solsjkaer never admits his errors especially his continue employment of Martial.

23rd September 2021 at 6:59 pm #185583Yeah OK Moos π. You can’t have followed Solskjaer’s managerial career very closely. He always takes the blame when things go wrong.

23rd September 2021 at 8:17 pm #185584AnonymousEddie firstly it’s not me saying that, it’s the experts on football shows, 2ndly they talking about naming individual players who are not performing, most managers are scared to do that. It’s almost the same as telling ones wife she’s not performing.
