I think there is now a mindset to “balance the books” as best as possible. I feel that they will only sign Kane, if they can, provided they make one or two major sales. They wont go into debt to buy excessively. The City group have borrowed Β£400m to build a new stadium in America but this is not money to be spent on players.
But as I said we will see. Kane would be good but we dont want to be left without a striker. European clubs apart from Germany would sell._____________________________

12th August 2021 at 8:51 pm #1826179, ok, so Chelsea get 20% of the RRP of every shirt manufactured by Nike from Nike.
If thatβs the case, and thereβs then the vast retail markup, it shows how cheap it is to manufacture them and how the public is ripped offβ¦..Pagan

12th August 2021 at 9:19 pm #182618Pagan, this might help.
“The money football clubs make from shirt sales varies from club to club based on factors such as how many shirts are sold and the commission rate they have negotiated with providers.
Even the biggest clubs in the world receive a relatively small percentage of the revenue generated from shirt sales – usually around 7.5 to – if they’re lucky – 15 per cent.
There are some exceptions, of course. Liverpool’s new five-year Β£150 million ($200m) deal (Β£30m a year) with Nike reportedly sees them take a 20% commission from sales.” Cheers 9’s

12th August 2021 at 9:31 pm #182619Problem is Pagan, the public still buy them in large quantities, even at that price. Football is so tribal that people will pay what it takes to don themselves in the latest club shirts. They could stamp their feet collectively like they did with the european super league, but they don’t. But then if you’re paying Β£40/Β£50 just for a match ticket, you’ll probably pay Β£70/Β£80 for a shirt. Prices just get normalised.

12th August 2021 at 9:40 pm #182620Was just thinking, with Lukaku’s latest transfer, does this make him the most expensive football player in history. So far in his career, he has been the subject of 278m Pounds worth of transfers!

12th August 2021 at 10:56 pm #182622Anonymous105?!!!
They have slowly been bringing it up to US levels now for years. people need to stop paying this money or it’ll get worse and worse.Completely insane. I generally stopped buying jerseys when they went over 60 euro or so. i made an exception with Liverpools PL winning one from new balance. That was probably the nicest LFC jersey ever. the shit they are selling since they moved to Nike are all, bar none, disgusting.

13th August 2021 at 4:39 pm #182644Team shirts..never bought one…have been over priced for years. My son announced yesterday he will buy the new City shirt and I though I had brought him up sensible in purchasing anything!!!!! Nine, your explanation is right of course but it does not detract from the base manufacturing costs to the fans wallet is indecent. Too many fingers in the pie taking a healthy cut before it gets to the fans and it should not be so. If you look at a well made sports shirt, even better quality outside the club line it will be cheaper and in many cases better quality. I also think some suppliers have got the sizes wrong. City have a team shirt and then another team shirt with the added word “authentic” looking at them they are the same but a big difference in price, I also fail to understand how families can even afford football kits, no matter what club. It must take a big slice of weekly income and probably cost more in a week than a family shop for groceries. Football needs question how they raise money if this is the case and I think it may well be for many families.
