18th July 2021 at 11:57 am #181796Not a question of other teams winning it, it’s Moneybags to lose, pure and simple. Maybe they’ll get a bad run with injuries (not that I’m wishing it, but these things happen), or 5/6/7 of the squad all lose form at the same time (and if it happens before Christmas, they’ll just go out and buy another squad anyway!).
It’s City’s to lose, that is all.

18th July 2021 at 12:57 pm #181797Brian, It was not my intention to advocate gambling and neither am I a gambler myself.
The fun I referred to was seeing how others see the outcome of the PL via the odds and imo it creates a point of discussion.
Whilst I don’t advocate gambling I doubt too many risk too much on betting on who will win the PL title, firstly City have won 3 out of the last 4 titles and if they sign one or two of those that they are looking to sign they will probably win it again and secondly football is far to unpredictable for anyone to risk too much money on it. Occasionally you get great stories like the Leicester fan who put a tenner on his team at 5,000-1 to win the title that’s a fun bet imo as long as it doesn’t go any further than that.
In respect of the current odds whilst neither Spurs or Arsenal are likely to win the title odds of 50/1 are far to high imo and ultimately I suspect both Clubs will be around the Europa places.

18th July 2021 at 2:04 pm #181800I’m interested to see what the results will be like for teams playing at home, now that the fans will return.
Last year was out of the ordinary especially Liverpool the amount of matches lost at home that you wouldn’t normally expect.

18th July 2021 at 2:16 pm #181802Question is Nil how many fans will still be allowed in Stadiums come 1st October given the current Covid rates and the fact that they are continuing to rise substantially?

We have to start living again. Get the vulnerable vaccinated and open back up
We can’t keep going back into lockdown

18th July 2021 at 2:58 pm #181804The next 3 months will decide what can stay and what if anything has to go Sean.
If the Covid cases continue to increase as they are what might be desirable in terms of getting back to normal without any restrictions will be decided in England by whether the NHS can cope with the increased Covid cases.
Overall crowds in football Stadiums fall well behind the health of the Nation and the ability of the NHS to cope with Covid!

18th July 2021 at 3:44 pm #181805Good point Nine, I have a horrible feeling it’s all going to go belly up because of the potential increase in cases.
They’ll lock it all down again. This virus sadly won’t just disappear.
I get where Sean’s coming from though.

18th July 2021 at 7:56 pm #181808Not just football stadiums nine but life in general. So do we just stay lockdown till everyone is vaccinated? I’m
Just asking a genuine question as this is going on long enough. I’ve no idea what the answer is so just asking a question.People who are vaccinated are still catching the virus. They can still spread it so when does it stop mate?

18th July 2021 at 8:03 pm #181809I place the odd bet in a shop which is less than a fiver.
The whole thing for me has lost it’s appeal.
It’s unpredictable. Football’s changed anyway. The Markets available again are not what I would call as ‘fool proof’.
I don’t really take any notice or pay attention as such. I’ve built organically by working hours, good hours. I work hard and do right by society and that’s good enough for me.

18th July 2021 at 8:34 pm #181810Sean, I’m just talking about England as I said ” The next 3 months will decide what can stay and what if anything has to go” of course it won’t just be football stadiums and based on some of the reports I’ve been reading it may well not go the full three months.
I don’t have the answers no one does Sean but from an England perspective I’m almost certain that if the Covid rates continue to rise and they threaten the NHS then there will be a review of where we are at that time re the lockdown rules and what needs to change to ensure the NHS is protected which would almost certainly include limiting/ excluding crowds in sports Stadiums. Time will tell.

18th July 2021 at 11:33 pm #181815I honestly haven’t felt this excited and confident about my side prior to a season starting than this one. The signings we have made so far look excellent. If reports are correct and we sign Kabak and Daniel James, I would be really confident of a top 4 finish. Both players fit our criteria in age and potential. James really fits the bill as a Leicester player.

19th July 2021 at 5:58 am #181816As it stands, I’m going for…
1) MoneyBags
2) Chelsea
3) YooUtd
4) LiVARberoOol
5) Foxy Ladies
6) Who bloody knows, who bloody cares…Of course, my Spuds are completely dark horses here, keep Harry and sort out the D-Fence, maybe we might crack Top 5, lose Harry and have no idea. Toffee’s are going to be a hard nut to crack and are likely to take points from the big-dogs and drop points against mid-table teams (like the Goonies!), Goonies are the complete opposite to Toffees but in an attacking way, likely to take points from the bog-digs, and drop points against mid-tables sides (like Wet Spam!)…
Certainly see a 2-teir league this year, a Top 5 (as mentioned above) and a “Best of the Rest” with everybody else.
