Poch should not be under any pressure, it is a one team league now and winning shouldn’t be a problem. Who is in the team maybe though, nice problem to have I suppose. I just wonder what the other French teams view are, at least , here, we have a competitive league. I will be watching with interest

11th August 2021 at 11:35 pm #182575Thing is, the league shouldn’t have been a competition for PSG last season either. I mean they already had a crazy team compared to the rest of the league. Poch not winning last season was crazy!

12th August 2021 at 9:14 am #182580Be a great signing nine
I wouldnβt say they are free at all nine mate π I get what you are saying but signing on fees, agents etc those 4 would have cost a bomb but what is money to psg? Nothing, they can just throw it around and honestly, I would hate my club to be run like that. Itβs horrible and no way on a level playing field. Fffp is an absolute farce and it died when cities ban was over turned

12th August 2021 at 10:18 am #182585True enough mate but What would those 4 cost in transfer fees alone? Donnamorra circa Β£70m, Ramos Β£20m, Wijnaldum Β£25m Messi Β£100m plus and whatever PSG are spending on Messi they’ll probably get it all back in shirt sales and commercial deals.

12th August 2021 at 4:31 pm #1825919, how do shirt sales work? Surely a club only makes money from the shirts sold from their club shop, and I would think the vast majority of shirts are bought from other retailers, and I canβt see there being any kickback from the manufacturers as they are already giving a fortune in sponsorshipβ¦β¦.Pagan

12th August 2021 at 6:25 pm #182603Pagan, the top Clubs generate between 15% to 20% (ie Liverpool’s deal with Nike is 20% of shirt sales plus the sponsorship fee and generates over Β£60m a season) of shirt sales plus the annual sponsorship fee and the more shirt sales means ultimately that percentage will go up at the next negotiations.
PSG will generate more than that from Club shop sales of the Messi shirt they have two Club shops one on the Champs Elysees which has seen massive queues over the last few days plus PSG internet sales.
As per my post Messi will significantly strengthen the PSG brand and weaken the Barca brand and that will ultimately generate additional revenues for PSG.

12th August 2021 at 6:46 pm #1826059, sorry if this comes across a bit thick, so if I was to buy a shirt from say sports direct, how does the club make any money on that? I can see how they make money on shirt sales and other merchandising through the official club shop.
The only other way they can make money is if they take a cut of what the manufacturer sells the product to the retailersβ¦β¦β¦.Pagan

12th August 2021 at 6:48 pm #182606Β£97.5m for Lukaku. A good signing. No vitriolic press and media comment. All is rosy according to the press. Yet we pay Β£2.5 m more for a player and thats disgusting, awful, too much etc etc.
Why?
We now have made sales of nearly Β£70m for academy players so far in this window. Pretty good.
Also it looks like Bernardo wants to go thats Β£30-Β£40m so Β£100m for Grealish…the books are balanced which imo leaves a mega offer for Kane. I can see a bid coming of Β£130m. If so that would be it for this window but I would not rule out another major sale if we get Kane. Perhaps Laporte and or Jesus. Those two would represent a huge chunk of a Kane fee and would be well within any so called FFP.BUT who knows!!

12th August 2021 at 7:32 pm #182609I am so fed up with the hype around transfers..I give up….fans have no real influence anyway. I will enjoy it again when transfer window closes, personally, I do not care if City did not sign anymore players and play with what we have

12th August 2021 at 7:37 pm #182610AnonymousKane will go to City before the game I’d say. Expect something tomorrow. I say this not cause i know anything but because there’s no way Spurs will allow Kane to be unsure, if he’s to play any part in the match and… this upset has really meant that he’s not fit for it.

12th August 2021 at 7:49 pm #182611Brian. I agree. Most is made up. Most come to nothing. We should look elsewhere for a top striker. If we are willing to pay that much who else might be available?

12th August 2021 at 8:08 pm #182613Pagan, as I said top clubs get circa 15/20% for each shirt sold so PSG on the sale of a Β£80 PSG shirt through say Sports Direct @ 20% would earn an additional Β£16 to their 80m Euros sponsorship fee from Nike.

12th August 2021 at 8:14 pm #182614Adlab, very few if any top strikers are available currently if City don’t get Kane I can see them waiting until next season and trying to sign someone like Haaland or possibly Mbappe.
Like Mak I don’t understand why there’s a reluctance to sign Kane he will guarantee goals City got away without a striker last season it might be a bit more difficult for City to repeat that without a striker for this season.
